"Veteran" Postpones Filming For Third Installment Starring Hwang Jung Min, Lee Junho, And Chun Woo Hee
Director Ryoo Seung Wan’s new film “Veteran 3” has postponed the start of its filming. On March 11, the production team of “Veteran 3” stated, “The start of filming has been delayed due to Director Ryoo Seung Wan’s health issues.” Regarding the future filming schedule, they added, “We plan to reschedule after taking the actors’ schedules into account.” The third installment of the hit “Veteran” film series—following “Veteran” and “I, the Executioner”—had previously confirmed the appearance of Hwang Jung Min, who starred in the previous installments, as well as 2PM’s Lee Junho and actress Chun Woo Hee. The “Veteran” series is an action-crime saga that follows Detective Seo Do Chul (Hwang Jung Min), a seasoned detective who relentlessly pursues criminals. The first installment, released in 2015, drew 13.41 million viewers and was a major box-office hit. Last year’s sequel, “I, the Executioner,” also performed strongly, attracting 7.52 million moviegoers.

The film “The King’s Warden” has officially surpassed 12 million moviegoers at the Korean box office! On March 11, the Korean Film Council announced that “The King’s Warden” had exceeded 12 million cumulative admissions that afternoon, overtaking the hit 2024 film “Exhuma,” which recorded a final audience total of 11.91 million viewers. With this milestone, the movie has climbed to No. 20 on the all-time Korean box office rankings, marking a notable achievement for the historical film. “The King’s Warden” is now also closing in on “A Taxi Driver,” which currently ranks No. 19 with approximately 12.18 million viewers. Distributor SHOWBOX shared, “Thanks to the continued support of audiences, the film is currently achieving the highest box office score among Korean films released in the past two years.” Set during the Joseon Dynasty, the film centers on King Danjong (Park Ji Hoon), the sixth king of Joseon, who is betrayed by his uncle and dethroned before being exiled to Cheongnyeongpo in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province. There, he encounters Eom Heung Do (Yoo Hae Jin), the head of the local village, setting the story’s events in motion. The film “Whispering Water” has unveiled a chilling new teaser! “Whispering Water” is a horror film about a production crew sent to a reservoir named Salmokji to reshoot road-view footage after an unidentified figure was spotted in their initial footage. There, they encounter a mysterious presence lurking in the dark, deep water. The teaser opens with Su In (Kim Hye Yoon) stepping into water shrouded in thick fog, unable to see what lies ahead, setting the eerie tone from the very start. When an unidentified figure appears on Salmokji road view, Su In leads the filming crew toward Salmokji, while Ki Tae (Lee Jong Won) worries about her. Se Jeong (Jang Da A) warns, “Water ghosts are more dangerous than other ghosts because they bewitch people,” and the sudden, unannounced appearance of Kyo Sik (Kim Jun Han) raises the tension even further as strange events begin to unfold at Salmokji. Among these terrifying events, Kyung Joon (Oh Dong Min) and Sung Bin (Yoon Jae Chan) skip stones that return at terrifying speed, causing the crew to scream in panic. Scenes of Kyung Tae (Kim Young Sung) and Su In confronting an unknown presence in the water intensify the fear. An old woman warns, “You can’t get out there alive,” and a terrified Sung Bin finally faces the ghost, leaving viewers on edge about the fate of those who step into the inescapable Salmokji. “Whispering Water” is scheduled to hit theaters on April 8.
“The King’s Warden” Production Team Denies Plagiarism Allegations
The production team of “The King’s Warden” has formally responded to allegations of plagiarism. On March 9, MBN reported exclusively that the bereaved family of “A,” the 31st-generation descendant of Eom Heung Do, claimed that some scenes in the film resemble a drama titled “Eom Heung Do,” which “A” had been preparing before his death in 2019. The family argued that several elements were identical: a scene in which King Danjong opens his heart while sharing a meal with Eom Heung Do, a scene in which Eom Heung Do rescues King Danjong as he attempts to throw himself off a cliff, the portrayal of several palace maids as a single character, and the adaptation of Eom Heung Do’s children into a single son. In response, production company Onda Works issued a statement on March 10, saying, “The film ‘The King’s Warden’ is a purely original work based on historical facts, and the entire creative process has been documented in detail and can be verified.” The company added, “Because the work is based on historical figures and events, there may be other creative works claiming similarities. HIGHLIGHT’s Yoon Doojoon And Kwak Sun Young Join “Brave Detectives” As New MCs For Season 5
The hit crime variety show “Brave Detectives” is returning with Season 5! On March 9, E Channel announced that “Brave Detectives 5” will premiere on March 27, along with a refreshed MC lineup. “Brave Detectives” is a crime-themed variety program in which real-life detectives share the investigation processes behind actual cases they solved in the field. Since its first broadcast in 2022, the show has gained popularity for its realistic storytelling while also raising awareness about crime and prevention. With the new season, the program will see changes to its hosts. Kim Sun Young and Lee Yi Kyung will be departing the show following the end of Season 4. Park Bo Gum, Joo Won, Jung Jae Young, and Lee Sun Bin’s upcoming film has begun filming! “The Sword: A Legend of the Red Wolf” is a historical action film set shortly after the fall of Goguryeo. It follows a man who loses his memory and becomes a slave before entering a tournament for a legendary sword. Director Kim Han Min of the film “War of the Arrows” will take the helm. Ahead of the start of filming, director Kim Han Min and the actors gathered for an activity script reading session, practicing both the lines as well as the action choreography. Unlike a typical script reading, the activity reading functioned more like a rehearsal combining action and dialogue, adding depth to the narrative as the actors immersed into their characters. Park Bo Gum takes on the role of Chil Seong, a warrior who has lost his memory. The actor will impress with his powerful sword-fighting action as his character transforms from a slave gladiator to a hero. Joo Won plays Gyepil Haryeok (Qibi Heli), a character who opposes Chil Seong. Gyepil Haryeok is a cold warrior representing the Göktürks in the tournament, forming a fierce rivalry with Chil Seong. He will showcase fierce charisma and difficult action scenes using two swords. Jung Jae Young transforms into Heuk Su Gang, the steadfast leader of the Goguryeo restoration army, known as the Damul Army. Lee Sun Bin plays Maya, a member of the restoration army, showcasing strong determination and action. Furthermore, the cast will be joined by Vietnamese star Trấn Thành, Kim Jae Chul, Choi Gwi Hwa, Park Myung Hoon, Lee Soon Won, and more. “The Sword: A Legend of the Red Wolf” began filming on March 3.
