CLOSE YOUR EYES’ Ma Jingxiang will not be joining the group for today’s comeback promotions due to his health.

On April 24, UNCORE announced that Ma Jingxiang had gone to the emergency room yesterday after complaining of a headache. According to the agency, an in-depth examination at the emergency room had not indicated any particular abnormalities, but they planned to have Ma Jingxiang undergo additional tests today in order to determine the exact cause of his symptoms.

As a result, Ma Jingxiang will be sitting out both today’s live broadcast of “Music Bank” and the fan signing event scheduled for later today.

The agency’s full statement is as follows:

First, we would like to sincerely thank the CLOSER [CLOSE YOUR EYES’ fans] who love and care for CLOSE YOUR EYES.

Yesterday afternoon, member Ma Xingjiang complained of headache symptoms, and so he visited the hospital, where he received medical treatment and was prescribed medication. After wrapping up his schedule for the day, he underwent an in-depth examination at the emergency room. Although the examination results did not indicate any particular abnormalities, he is scheduled to undergo additional examinations today in order to determine the exact cause of his symptoms.

Therefore, considering our artist’s health our top priority, we regret to inform you that he will inevitably be unable to participate in the KBS2 “Music Bank” live broadcast and fan signing event scheduled for today. We deeply apologize for giving fans cause for concern with this sudden news, and we will do our utmost to help our artist make a speedy recovery.

TWICE’s Dahyun will be rejoining her bandmates on stage starting this weekend.

Back in February, JYP Entertainment announced that Dahyun had been diagnosed with a stress fracture in her ankle and would therefore be unable to perform at TWICE’s upcoming shows for their ongoing “THIS IS FOR” world tour. Since then, Dahyun has been sitting out the group’s concerts in order to focus on her recovery.

On April 24, JYP Entertainment shared an update on Dahyun’s health and announced that starting with TWICE’s upcoming Tokyo concert on April 25, Dahyun would be returning to performing on stage. However, the agency added that “for the time being, her participation in choreography and certain performances may be limited.”

The company’s full English statement is as follows:

Hi, this is JYP Entertainment.

We would like to provide an update regarding Dahyun’s health and her upcoming schedule.

Dahyun is currently focusing on treatment and rehabilitation for a stress fracture. According to her recent medical evaluation, the initially diagnosed area has shown improvement. The medical team has advised that continued rehabilitation is necessary for a full recovery of strength and function.

After carefully considering the artist’s strong desire to meet fans on stage during the world tour, as well as her recovery progress, and based on discussions with medical professionals, it has been decided that she will participate in upcoming performances within a limited scope that does not place undue strain on her condition.

With this in mind, Dahyun is expected to join the stage starting with the Tokyo concerts. However, for the time being, her participation in choreography and certain performances may be limited.

Upcoming drama “The Legend of Kitchen Soldier” has shared a new behind-the-scenes video!

Based on a popular web novel and webtoon, “The Legend of Kitchen Soldier” is a military fantasy-comedy drama that tells the story of army cook Kang Sung Jae (Park Ji Hoon). When a mysterious quest window pops up in front of him one day, Private Kang Sung Jae begins an unexpected journey that will lead him down the path towards becoming a legendary cook.

The new making-of video goes behind the scenes for the drama’s poster shoot. Regarding his role Kang Sung Jae, Park Ji Hoon shares, “He’s a passionate character, and although he’s a little chaotic at first, I think he adjusts well.”

During the photo shoot, the actors impress with their creative poses, bringing laughter to the set with their fun poses. When asked who is the mood-setter on set, Park Ji Hoon hesitantly asks, “Is it me?” Lee Sang Yi picks Yoon Kyung Ho, while Lee Hong Nae points to Lee Sang Yi.

TWICE has made K-pop history with the North American leg of their ongoing “THIS IS FOR” world tour!

On April 18, TWICE successfully wrapped up their “THIS IS FOR” tour of North America, which included 35 shows in 20 different cities across the continent. Although the group was originally scheduled to perform just 22 shows in North America, a significant number of shows were added due to demand.

Over the course of their tour, TWICE drew approximately 550,000 concertgoers in North America, setting a new record for the highest North American attendance ever achieved by a K-pop girl group.

After breaking records in North America, TWICE will next be making history in Japan, where they will become the first foreign artist ever to hold a concert of their own at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo. The group will be performing three shows at the Japan National Stadium starting on April 25.

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, “Yumi’s Cells” tells the story of an ordinary office worker named Yumi (Kim Go Eun)—from the point of view of the many brain cells in her head controlling her every thought, feeling, and action. In Season 3, Kim Jae Won plays Yumi’s new love interest Soon Rok, an editorial PD at Julie Publishing.

Although their characters get off on the wrong foot in “Yumi’s Cells 3,” newly released behind-the-scenes photos reveal that Kim Go Eun and Kim Jae Won’s real-life dynamic is far from antagonistic.

In one photo, Kim Jae Won thoughtfully shields Kim Go Eun from the sun with his hand; in another, they playfully joke around while talking to the director between takes. The two co-stars can also be seen posing for photos together when the cameras aren’t rolling.

Yet another photo captures the memorable moment when Yumi and Soon Rok brushed hands at the Busan train station, which made not only Yumi’s but also viewers’ hearts flutter.

Close to its final weeks, “Phantom Lawyer” keeps surprising us with its versatility and dynamic plot. One minute, they are making you bawl your eyes out with heartfelt goodbyes, and the next, they are in a thrilling persecution that gets you on the edge of your seat. If you’ve been following Shin I Rang’s (Yoo Yeon Seok) story so far, you’ll know that there is more than one surprising and emotional twists ahead of each episode. Here are some of the most heartwarming and shocking moments our hero went through in the latest episodes of this show. 

Warning: spoilers from episodes 11-12 ahead! 

HEARTWARMING: resolving the elderly ghost and his wife’s case 

When everything seems to be lost after revealing that the shoemaker ghost’s (cameo by Lee Deok Hwa) wife forged his last will to divide their company’s assets, Shin I Rang and Han Na Hyun (Esom) get a mysterious message that leads them to discover that the elderly couple’s friend is still alive. With this new turn, I Rang and Na Hyun find a clever way to make sure the woman and her son can have fair compensation after many years. But not only do they get a satisfactory arrangement, but this separated mother and son can finally have the long-awaited reunion they always wished for.  

The most touching part is that, regardless of the law, the human factor wins in this case. The shoemaker’s son, who at first hesitated to give away part of the assets of his father’s company, reminds himself how warm and kindhearted his father was and ends up giving up on the lawsuit. Furthermore, the elderly man’s last moments show that, despite his Alzheimer’s, he never forgot what was most important in his heart: his beloved wife. And it is through one last pair of shoes that his wife also realizes that she was the only one for him, proving that true love can arrive in many different forms.  

HEARTWARMING: Han Na Hyun falling for Shin I Rang 

Though romance hasn’t been the primary focus of this show, the natural way in which I Rang and Na Hyun start to develop feelings for each other is still quite enjoyable. Slow burns may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but it works here. In Na Hyun’s case, it is clear that it took her a lot more time to open up to this clumsy yet kindhearted man. However, now that she has seen much of his struggles, gotten to know about his past, and still sees him choosing to remain optimistic and kind, there’s no doubt why she would choose him instead of someone similar to herself. 

For I Rang, after watching so many souls suffering from regrets, he finally decides to confess his feelings for Na Hyun, which have been pretty evident since the beginning. Sadly, writers just won’t let them have their sweet romance just yet, and before he can say anything, he gets possessed by a new ghost. Afterward, their awkward encounters make them all the more endearing to watch because that’s exactly what happens when two introverts like each other: they flirt in the most unconventional ways. 

HEARTWARMING: Shin I Rang bonding with a boy’s ghost 

Every time I Rang meets a new ghost, he proves to have a heart of gold. He might be their lawyer, but he also quickly turns into a friend of sorts for them. Being the only one who can watch and hear them creates a unique bond. On this occasion, having a small kid around not only becomes a new challenge but it also shows how deeply caring, sweet, and dependable he is. Despite the inconveniences this could bring to his life, I Rang goes as far as to let the boy take on his body to play with his small niece and eat all the pizza he wants. 

This enhances both the character’s personality and the actor’s great acting range. Playing from a composed adult to shift into a cheeky boy, aside from the visual queues that they give, is fantastic. Furthermore, the chemistry between I Rang and every ghost is endearing in many ways. He somehow makes every story more relatable since he can see things from their perspectives and understand what they’ve been through. That alone makes these scenes all the more important for the show. 

SHOCKING: Yang Byeong Il’s sketchy attitude 

Unfortunately, not everything is as endearing as it appears, and funnily enough, it isn’t the ghosts that are bringing the darkness to this story, but the living ones. If we thought Yang Do Kyung (Kim Kyung Nam) was somehow shady and a little twisted, in these couple of episodes, we understand that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. His father, Yang Byeong Il (Choi Kwang Il), who at first appeared to be the complete opposite of his son, is slowly revealing his true colors. 

His particular interest in I Rang and his late father, as well as his constant visits to his mother Park Kyung Hwa (Kim Mi Kyung), make him more suspicious the more he tries to appear friendly and determined to vindicate I Rang’s father’s name. It wouldn’t be that much of a shock if he turns out to be the one who actually framed I Rang’s dad and is trying to erase the last pieces of evidence that could incriminate him. Whatever it is, he surely isn’t as innocent as he wants them to believe he is. 

SHOCKING: Shin I Rang saving a kidnapped boy 

While working as a lawyer for these spirits, I Rang faces many dangerous and unexpected situations, but none quite as this one. What starts as a simple investigation to find the little boy’s identity and know the circumstances in which he died ends up becoming a gripping and tense kidnapping scene. In that sense, I Rang is a specialist in being way too trusting of suspicious people, and sure enough, the detective who seemed to be there to help him is, in fact, the perpetrator. Luckily, almost like a superpower, the boy’s ghost takes on I Rang’s body, helping him to escape and save the other little boy along the way. 

However, this time the cost for this heroic feat is more than a few punches and some scratches. Leaving us shocked with an illegal cliffhanger, we see I Rang watching himself lying dead on a hospital bed with none other than a devastated Han Na Hyun by his side. It would be impossible, and certainly too tragic, for things to end like this. After all, he is supposed to be a lawyer for the ghosts, not a lawyer turned into a ghost. But we’ll have to wait until the next episodes of “Phantom Lawyer” to know how he’ll come back from this massive plot twist!

The main cast of the upcoming SBS drama “My Royal Nemesis” recently participated in a photo shoot with ELLE Korea!

“My Royal Nemesis” is a romantic comedy starring Lim Ji Yeon as Shin Seo Ri, a struggling actress who is suddenly possessed by the spirit of a notorious villainess from the Joseon era. Heo Nam Jun plays Cha Se Gye, a ruthless chaebol heir who is known as a “monster created by capitalism.”

In the interview following the shoot, Lim Ji Yeon described her character Shin Seo Ri as a character in whom “a Joseon-era villainess and a modern woman co-exist in one body,” adding, “Rather than separating the two, I approached it as a single character undergoing transformation.” She continued, “As love enters her life, the character becomes much more three-dimensional.”

Heo Nam Jun described his character Cha Se Gye as “someone who acts based on calculation rather than emotion,” adding, “He judges all relationships based on profit and survival.” Regarding his relationship with Shin Seo Ri, he explained, “She feels unfamiliar because she approaches Se Gye without calculation, and that unfamiliarity ultimately makes him open his heart.”

The two actors also showed deep trust in their on-screen chemistry. Lim Ji Yeon shared, “We discussed the script a lot and built each scene together,” citing an emotional scene filmed in Jeju Island as particularly memorable. Heo Nam Jun likewise said, “I relied on her in every moment,” highlighting the collaborative atmosphere on set where they could naturally exchange ideas.

When asked to describe their characters’ relationship, the two offered different metaphors. Lim Ji Yeon compared it to “iced coffee and ice cream, where cold things come together to create a deeper flavor.” Heo Nam Jun described it as “a burgundy-like red,” saying it is “an intense combination that becomes softer the more it blends together.”

SBS has unveiled a new teaser for its upcoming drama “My Royal Nemesis”!

“My Royal Nemesis” is a romantic comedy starring Lim Ji Yeon as Shin Seo Ri, a struggling actress who is suddenly possessed by the spirit of a notorious villainess from the Joseon era. Heo Nam Jun will star as Cha Se Gye, a ruthless chaebol heir who is known as a “monster created by capitalism.”

The newly released teaser begins with glimpses of the tragic past of Joseon villainess Kang Dan Shim (also played by Lim Ji Yeon), whose life ends with her being sentenced to death.

The teaser then flashes forward to present day, where Cha Se Gye boldly asks, “What’s wrong with being infamous?” Unfazed by his bad reputation, Cha Se Gye calmly uses an umbrella to defend himself from being egged by an angry crowd of protestors.

Sparks immediately fly between these two “villains,” who wind up attacking each other with flowers when they meet for the first time. As the two repeatedly get into physical altercations, a voice-over hints at the fiery romance to come between them: “You’re the first woman to treat me so disrespectfully. It’s refreshing. It’s thrilling.”

Initially, Cha Se Gye refuses to acknowledge his growing feelings for Shin Seo Ri, dismissively insisting, “Me? Pay attention to a woman like that?” However, the relationship between them takes an unexpected turn when he tells her, “It turns out that I need you. Desperately.”

Finally, Cha Se Gye’s distant cousin Choi Moon Do (Jang Seung Jo) enters the picture as he ominously remarks, “That’s an interesting combination. Let’s try turning that woman into a wild card.”

On April 23, viewership ratings for the new romantic comedy starring Ahn Hyo Seop and Chae Won Bin held steady for its second episode. According to Nielsen Korea, “Sold Out on You” scored an average nationwide rating of 3.3 percent, the same figure achieved by its premiere the night before.

Byeon Woo Seok and IU will wind up in the hospital on the next episode of MBC’s “Perfect Crown.”

Set in an alternate universe where modern-day Korea is a constitutional monarchy, “Perfect Crown” tells the love story of Seong Hui Ju (IU), a chaebol heiress who has everything but is only a commoner in status, and Grand Prince Ian (Byeon Woo Seok), a prince who has nothing despite being the son of the king.

Spoilers

On the previous episode of “Perfect Crown,” Seong Hui Ju was taking the young king for a drive when she realized that her brakes weren’t working. As she struggled desperately to bring her speeding car to a halt, Grand Prince Ian saved the day by using his own car to block her path.

In newly released stills from the drama’s next episode, Seong Hui Ju and Grand Prince Ian share a tender moment after being admitted to the hospital together. As she gazes at Ian, who appears to have injured his shoulder, Seong Hui Ju looks both upset and apologetic.

When Seong Hui Ju starts nagging him out of concern, Ian comforts her with a warm, affectionate touch.

According to the drama’s production team, Seong Hui Ju and Grand Prince Ian will become even more devoted to one another after this life-threatening car accident. On April 23, Mystic Story released an official statement announcing its plans to take legal action against “ongoing acts that seriously infringe upon [Billlie’s] fundamental rights, including, but not limited to, sexual harassment, malicious defamation, the spread of false information, and personal attacks through the artist’s personal social media accounts.”

We have recently confirmed ongoing acts that seriously infringe upon the artist’s fundamental rights, including, but not limited to, sexual harassment, malicious defamation, the spread of false information, and personal attacks through the artist’s personal social media accounts.

Kwon Sang Woo will be teaming up with Hwang Minhyun in “Study Group 2”!

According to TVING on April 23, Kwon Sang Woo is set to appear in the original series “Study Group Season 2.”

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, “Study Group” is a high school action-comedy about Youn Ga Min (Hwang Minhyun), a student who dreams of excelling academically but is only gifted in fighting. At a high school notorious for being one of the worst in the world, he forms a study group and dives into the ruthless world of college entrance exams. The drama ranked in the Top 5 for over 140 regions on Viki, proving its global success.

Following its success, production for Season 2 was confirmed, with filming already underway since last month.

The court has granted an injunction suspending the exclusive contracts of nine THE BOYZ members with their agency ONE HUNDRED.

Since February, THE BOYZ members Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, Q, Sunwoo, and Eric—excluding New—had notified the agency of their intent to terminate their contracts and filed for an injunction to suspend their validity.

On April 23, their legal representative, attorney Kim Mun Hui of Yulchon LLC, confirmed that the court has granted the injunction, effectively recognizing that the members’ exclusive contracts with ONE HUNDRED have been lawfully terminated.

Below is the official statement from THE BOYZ’s legal representative:

Hello. This is attorney Kim Mun Hui of Yulchon LLC. On behalf of THE BOYZ members Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, Q, Sunwoo, and Eric (hereinafter referred to as the “artists”), we would like to present our official statement regarding the court’s decision to grant the injunction suspending the validity of their exclusive contracts.

Today, the court ruled in favor of the artists’ request for an injunction, thereby confirming that their exclusive contracts with ONE HUNDRED LABEL Co., Ltd. (the “agency”) have been lawfully terminated and are no longer in effect.

The court determined that the agency had violated its obligation to pay settlement earnings, failed to provide settlement data necessary to verify the accuracy of those payments, and did not fulfill key contractual duties such as management support and artist protection. Taking these factors into account, the court concluded that the trust between the two parties had been irreparably damaged due to the agency’s fault.

The agency had previously argued, both in the media and during injunction proceedings, that the contract signing bonus constituted an “advance payment.” However, the court explicitly rejected this claim. The court determined that the signing bonus and the distribution of settlement earnings from generated revenue are governed by separate provisions within the contract, and that there is no agreement allowing the already-paid signing bonus to replace or offset earnings owed to the artists. The court further clarified that the signing bonus was a separate form of compensation paid to the artists—who had already established significant popularity and recognition at the time—as part of securing their contracts, and is fundamentally separate from settlement payments.

As such, the signing bonus paid by the agency reflects the artists’ current and future value and marketability, offered by the agency to recruit them, and was agreed upon by both parties at the time the contracts were signed. The agency’s current attempt to distort the scale and nature of the signing bonus ultimately amounts to reversing and denying its own prior judgment and decision.

As previously stated in an earlier announcement, the artists will faithfully fulfill any schedules that had already been confirmed prior to the termination of their contracts, in order to honor their promises to fans and minimize harm to third parties. Despite the difficult circumstances caused by the agency’s false claims and media pressure, the artists have continued to practice daily and diligently prepare for their concert, even covering significant expenses personally to deliver their best. Above all, they feel both excitement and a strong sense of responsibility as they look forward to meeting fans soon, and they are grateful that the court’s ruling has clearly resolved the dispute over the validity of their contracts.

The artists sincerely apologize for any concern or fatigue caused by the situation during the process of parting ways with their agency. They hope that the remaining matters can now be resolved smoothly and swiftly, and they will continue to do their utmost in their activities alongside their fans.

On April 23, CRAVITY’s agency STARSHIP Entertainment announced that Woobin will not be able to participate in some content related to the group’s upcoming album due to his role as Romeo in the musical “Romeo & Juliette.” Additionally, he will also be unable to take part in certain promotional activities due to overlapping schedules.
