Gear up to see Team WONDERfools in action!

On April 23, upcoming drama “The WONDERfools” unveiled a new character poster and teaser ahead of its premiere.

“The WONDERfools” is a superpower comic action set in 1999, a time when apocalyptic beliefs were rampant. It follows a group of neighborhood misfits who unexpectedly gain superpowers and fight against villains threatening the peace of Haeseong city.

The newly released character poster highlights each of the different superpowers the members of Team WONDERfools possess. Using afterimages over two overlapped cards, Eun Chae Ni (Park Eun Bin) is shown to have the ability of teleportation. Lee Woon Jung (Cha Eun Woo) highlights his strength with his ability to use telekinesis. Meanwhile, Son Kyung Hoon (Choi Dae Hoon) is like a “useless flypaper” as he sticks comically to the screen, and Kang Robin (Im Seong Jae) looks shocked as he tears through the wall with his fist as a “nuisance maker” with great power, raising anticipation for how the team will utilize their abilities.

The teaser released along with the poster begins with Chae Ni, Kyung Hoon, and Robin peeling onions on the street as Woon Jung keeps his distance. Although Woon Jung pretends to not know the other three, the rest are lost in their own fun conversation filled with laughter.

However, as the four suddenly gain superpowers, chaos ensues from Chae Ni teleporting to random places every other moment to Kyung Hoon being unable to let go of a fridge and Robin making a hole in the wall by simply throwing a canned drink, raising anticipation for how the unlikely crew of “lovable misfits” will adjust to their superpowers.

Additional scenes showing Woon Jung stopping a falling car and speeding bullets with telekinesis further raise questions about the forces opposing Team WONDERfools. The contrast between those screaming, “The apocalypse is nigh!” in the background as Team WONDERfools work together to protect their village raises anticipation for their upcoming journey, especially as Chae Ni comments, “We’re pretty awesome, aren’t we?”

“The WONDERfools” is set to premeire on May 15.

Lee Chae Min recently joined Harper’s BAZAAR Korea for a pictorial and interview!

In the interview following his photo shoot, the rising actor shared candid thoughts about his career and acting roles. When asked what kinds of roles he is drawn to, he said, “They fall into two categories. There are projects I want to do because I can deeply relate to them or think they’d be fun, and there are projects I’m not entirely sure about but want to challenge myself with in order to discover a new side of me. In between taking on roles I can relate to, I also occasionally challenge myself with historical dramas or villain roles, which I think has made my filmography a bit diverse.”

When asked if there was a project that had made him nervous, he replied, “’Bon Appétit, Your Majesty’ was one where I clenched my teeth and told myself to just go for it. I was very happy and grateful, but honestly, the thought at the forefront of my mind was ‘Will I really be able to pull this off?’ The keyword ‘tyrant’ worried me. I’m not someone who usually expresses anger openly or raises my voice, so I wasn’t sure if I could handle the role of a high-intensity tyrant. In the beginning, I approached the acting almost like a task I had to carry out, but with the help of those around me and the director, I was able to see it through to the end.”

On how his strong competitive spirit has influenced him, Lee Chae Min remarked, “It has never allowed me to become complacent. There are so many people around me who can influence me. Rather than trying to follow their lives, I think part of my competitiveness comes from drawing motivation from them. Thanks to that, I’ve been able to keep working hard up until now.”

Director Han Tae Seop of the upcoming drama “My Royal Nemesis” has shared behind-the-scenes stories about the casting of Lim Ji Yeon, Heo Nam Jun, and Jang Seung Jo!

“My Royal Nemesis” is a romantic comedy starring Lim Ji Yeon as Shin Seo Ri, a struggling actress who is suddenly possessed by the spirit of a notorious villainess from the Joseon era. Heo Nam Jun will star as Cha Se Gye, a ruthless chaebol heir who is known as a “monster created by capitalism.”

Director Han Tae Seop expressed strong confidence in Lim Ji Yeon, saying, “Lim Ji Yeon was the top choice for both me and the writer. Her unique appeal, proven through many roles, closely matches the spirit shown by Shin Seo Ri, who steadfastly believes in herself and forges her own path.”

He went on, “In particular, Lim Ji Yeon naturally has Shin Seo Ri’s cute, refreshing, and lovable qualities. That’s why we saw her as our one-and-only casting choice.”

The director continued, “In the middle of the cold winter, we filmed a scene where Dan Shim [also played by Lim Ji Yeon] drinks poison and dies. I became so focused on Lim Ji Yeon’s acting that I forgot the cold. Watching her through the monitor, I felt as if my bones were aching. She is an actress who creates a very realistic sense of immersion and builds characters that only she can portray.”

Han Tae Seop added, “Please pay attention to the small and large moments and expressions through which Shin Seo Ri, an 18th-century Confucian-minded woman, delivers sharp remarks to modern-day people. These moments will deliver both catharsis and emotional impact to those of us who live while forgetting the values of ethics, morality, loyalty, and human decency.”

Meanwhile, director Han Tae Seop said of Heo Nam Jun, “I cast him for his ‘homme fatale’ charm, but I discovered he also has comedic talent. Cha Se Gye, created through the blend of Heo Nam Jun’s comedic timing and masculine appeal, will create tense and entertaining chemistry when he clashes with the strong-willed Shin Seo Ri without being overpowered.”

He continued, “I had faith that Heo Nam Jun’s flexible and delicate acting style would create strong chemistry with his co-stars. Lim Ji Yeon and Heo Nam Jun connected with their fellow actors with open hearts, resulting in both lighthearted fun and deep emotion. Even when they joked around on set, once the cameras started rolling, they focused on each other’s performances and supported one another. As a director, I felt grateful seeing that.”

Director Han Tae Seop also praised the performance of Jang Seung Jo, who plays Cha Se Gye’s distant cousin Choi Moon Do, saying, “Jang Seung Jo skillfully brought to life the multifaceted character of Choi Moon Do, who anchors the story with a strong presence amidst the light and cheerful narrative.”

He added, “I spent a long time speaking with Jang Seung Jo and focused on how a ‘villain’ is both similar to and different from us. The character of Choi Moon Do, shaped by Jang Seung Jo’s passion and dedication, will feel compelling, chilling, and at times even pitiful.”

Finally, the director highlighted key points that viewers can look forward to in the drama, saying, “The clash of vivid characters and the performances of talented actors will make the drama extremely immersive. In addition, the lighthearted comedy will give viewers energy at the end of a tiring day, and the unique comfort that only romance can provide will touch viewers’ hearts.”

Mystic Story has canceled the release of LUCY’s official light stick due to backlash from fans.

On April 22, LUCY announced that they would be releasing their first official light stick and unveiled a glimpse of the design.

As the band’s fandom name is “Walwal” (a Korean onomatopoeia for the sound of a dog barking), the light stick was designed to look like a dog bone. Fans also noticed that it featured two small rings at the top, seemingly so that it could be worn around the neck as a necklace.

After many fans responded negatively to the design of the light stick, with some having already been unhappy with the fandom name, Mystic Story announced that same night that they had decided to cancel the release.

The agency’s full statement and apology is as follows:

Hello. This is Mystic Story.

We are making an announcement regarding the official light stick that was revealed today. We humbly and seriously accepted the many opinions that you sent us through various channels, and after an internal reconsideration of the matter in question, we have decided to cancel the release.

We sincerely apologize for the fact that, through this process, we wound up disconcerting the people who are giving [LUCY] so much support. Once again, we deeply apologize for having caused discomfort, and we will work even harder so that the love and expectations you give us will not be in vain.

Thank you.

“Teaching Practice: Idiot Girls and School Ghost 2” has unveiled its main poster!

“Teaching Practice: Idiot Girls and School Ghost 2” is a standalone sequel to the 2024 film “Idiot Girls and School Ghost: School Anniversary.” It is a high school comedy-horror about Eun Gyeong (Han Sun Hwa), a passionate Gen MZ student teacher who ends up taking a deadly mock test against the ghost of the college entrance exam, alongside members of a black magic club. The cast includes Han Sun Hwa, Hong Ye Ji, WJSN’s Yeoreum, Lee Hwa Won, and Yoo Seon Ho.

The newly released main poster features the passionate MZ student teacher Eun Gyeong alongside three members of a black magic club, all draped in red capes and striking distinct poses.

Leader Aoi (Hong Ye Ji) commands attention with a charismatic, enigmatic gaze, while Riko (WJSN’s Yeoreum) puffs her cheeks in a timid, slightly frightened expression. Haruka (Lee Hwa Won), resting her chin on her hand, stares wide-eyed with a bold, intense edge. At the center, Eun Gyeong stands confidently with a determined gaze, anchoring the group with her strong presence.

Heightening the tension is the looming presence of the 400-year-old spirit Idainashi (Yoo Seon Ho), who dominates the top of the poster. Combined with the striking tagline, “A deadly mock exam begins,” the image builds anticipation for a new “girls’ night movie.”

SBS has announced a new road variety show featuring Venerable Pomnyun Sunim, ALLDAY PROJECT’s Woochan, Lee Joo Bin, Lee Ki Taek, and more!

On April 22, SBS confirmed that its new program “Sunim Sonim Soul Trip in India”—“sunim” meaning a Buddhist monk and “sonim” meaning a guest—is set to premiere in May.

The show will spotlight part of Venerable Pomnyun Sunim’s 34-year pilgrimage journey to sacred sites across India. Widely known as “the nation’s mentor” and one of Korea’s most respected Buddhist figures, he steps into his first-ever road variety show, traveling with guests as they ride rickshaws, share street food, and embrace unexpected moments. Through the journey, he reveals a more candid, human side—at one point even remarking, “Variety shows are harder than spiritual practice.”

Joining him on the trip are Noh Hong Chul, Lee Sang Yoon, and Lee Joo Bin—who even canceled a planned trip to New York to join the show—alongside Lee Ki Taek and the youngest member ALLDAY PROJECT’s Woochan.

Together, they venture into parts of India rarely seen on television—from the tributaries of the Ganges River, to bustling market alleys, and even a remote school personally established by Venerable Pomnyun Sunim 34 years ago—capturing the country’s raw, unfiltered energy beyond the scope of typical travel variety shows.

“Colony” has unveiled new character posters ahead of its release!

Helmed by “Train to Busan” and “Peninsula” director Yeon Sang Ho, “Colony” follows the story that unfolds as a building is blockaded due to an unknown virus as those infected evolve into unpredictable forms, threatening the survivors. The film has been officially invited to the Midnight Screenings section of the 79th Cannes International Film Festival, earning critical acclaim prior to its premiere.

The newly released posters highlight each character’s unique personality against a towering wall of infected people twisted together. The infected reach out as if they could attack at any moment, while the six distinct characters stand at the center.

First, Kwon Se Jung (Jun Ji Hyun) stands confidently before the infected, showing her strength and determination as a leader guiding survivors to safety.

The two leads of “Absolute Value of Romance” recently participated in a photo shoot with the fashion magazine Cosmopolitan Korea!

“Absolute Value of Romance” is a drama about high school student Yeo Ui Ju (Kim Hyang Gi), who writes romance novels featuring handsome teachers as the main characters. She encounters the teachers—Ga Woo Su (Cha Hak Yeon), Noh Da Ju (Kim Jae Hyun), Jung Gi Jeon (Sohn Jeong Hyuck), Yoon Dong Ju (Kim Dong Gyu)—in real life in unexpected moments and becomes the central figure in a turbulent school life.

Talking about the drama, Cha Hak Yeon said, “It’s a series where the characters’ youth and growth are clearly portrayed. Watching Woo Su grow because of Eui Ju was something I could genuinely relate to, and when filming the final class scene, I actually felt very emotional.”

Kim Hyang Gi shared, “It’s a project that delivers its message in a simple and natural way. So when you watch it, you’ll be able to relate to it and find it funny.”

On how similar they are to their characters, Cha Hak Yeon said, “When I first met Woo Su, I thought we had nothing in common. His personality and way of speaking are very cold. But if there is one similarity, it’s that we both have strong ‘T’ (“Thinking” personality in MBTI) tendencies. Other than that, we’re quite different, so getting to know Woo Su was actually interesting.”

Kim Hyang Gi added, “Our similarity is having a passionate love for something and the desire to achieve a dream. Just like Eui Ju works toward her dream of becoming a writer, I was deeply immersed in acting during my school years, and that period lasted quite a long time. I tried to draw from that experience.”

They also talked about their most memorable scenes. Kim Hyang Gi said, “There’s a scene early on where the teachers are introduced for the first time. When news spreads that young, handsome male teachers have been assigned to the school, the students all rush into the staff room—that scene really captures the overall atmosphere of our series, so it left a strong impression on me.”

Cha Hak Yeon shared, “In the drama, Woo Su is a completely guarded and perfectionist teacher. He builds his own walls and doesn’t let anyone inside. But there’s a scene where this almost perfect character completely breaks down. He faints over something as trivial as pigeon droppings. At the time, I was lying there with my eyes closed, and Hyang Gi’s acting was so lively and expressive. Eventually, I reached the point where just hearing her breathing would make me burst out laughing. I think we had to reshoot that scene more than 10 times.”

“Absolute Value of Romance” airs every Friday at 8 p.m. KST on Coupang Play. Cha Hak Yeon and Kim Hyang Gi’s full pictorial and interview can be found in the May issue of Cosmopolitan Korea.

“Sold Out on You” is a romantic comedy about the unexpected love story between Matthew Lee (Ahn Hyo Seop), a perfectionist farmer juggling multiple jobs, and Dam Ye Jin (Chae Won Bin), a top home shopping show host who suffers from severe insomnia.

Park Ji Hwan will make a surprise appearance as a celebrity guest on one of Dam Ye Jin’s live home shopping broadcasts. In the released stills, he catches the eye with a stylish outfit and perfectly styled hair, holding brightly colored cleaning products.

Known for his playful expressions, Park Ji Hwan is expected to leave a strong impression with his unconventional sales approach—one that leads not to “sold out” moments, but to canceled orders—leaving everyone on set flustered. More stills capture him having a serious conversation in the hallway outside the studio with PD Um Sung Mi (Park Ye Young) and MD Hwang Ki Hong (Yoon Jae Chan), further heightening curiosity about what kind of situation will unfold.

Yeo Eui Ju an ordinary high school student who is average in every way and tries to keep a low profile at school. But at night, she secretly becomes a writer, posting daring adults-only BL novels online. Despite her enthusiasm, her work barely gets any views. Though highly observant and empathetic, she has always been hopeless when it comes to real-life romance. However, her life as a writer takes an unexpected turn when four handsome new teachers arrive at her school. Among them is Ga U Su, a cold and brilliant math prodigy from a family of renowned mathematicians, who gave up studying abroad after a life-changing incident nearly cost him his vision. No Da Ju, a playful and mischievous Japanese teacher born to a wealthy family, is a gifted polyglot fluent in multiple languages and U Su’s longtime friend, despite their constant squabbling. Jung Gi Jeon, a former luge athlete forced to retire due to injury, is now a warm but clumsy sports teacher who is popular among students and sees Eui Ju as his next prodigy, recognizing her exceptional talent in running. Lastly, Yun Dong Ju is a warm-hearted and modest Korean teacher who is respectful and soft-spoken, treats his students with respect, always uses honorifics, and never loses his temper. As these four charming new teachers arrive at her school, they become her unexpected muses. Their presence turns both her everyday life and her writing upside down.
Set in an alternate version of Korea ruled by a constitutional monarchy in the 21st century. The story follows Chaebol heiress Seong Hui Ju, who is frustrated by her 'commoner' status despite having everything, and melancholic Grand Prince Yi An, whose royal blood is his only identity and who has nothing despite being the son of the king. Seong Hui Ju, the second daughter of Korea’s wealthiest conglomerate, is blessed with striking beauty, brains, and a fierce competitive streak, yet she is limited by her status as a 'commoner'. She then chooses to enter a contract marriage with Grand Prince Yi An to gain the one thing she lacks — royal status. Meeting Yi An, a man who shares a similar predicament to hers but has made different life choices, marks a turning point in her life. Grand Prince is a title granted to another son of the king born to the queen consort in the Joseon Dynasty, signifying his royal lineage while placing him outside the direct line of succession to the throne. Prince Yi An, despite his royal blood, is unable to truly own anything and leads a life of sorrow. As the second son of the royal family, he has been forced to suppress his passionate desires and live in silence, but he is still regarded as the "most beloved royal" by the people due to his innate dignity and charm. Accustomed to hiding his true self, his life begins to change as he meets Seong Hui Ju, who resembles him in some ways but has made different choices, through their contract marriage.
