Billboard has published its World Albums chart for the week ending on May 9!

TXT’s latest mini album “7TH YEAR: A Moment of Stillness in the Thorns” spent its second consecutive week at No. 1 on the World Albums chart, in addition to remaining on the Billboard 200 at No. 98.

BTS landed a total of three entries on the World Albums chart this week. Their 2022 anthology album “Proof” climbed back up to No. 2 in its 203rd week on the chart, while their 2020 Japanese album “Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~” rose to No. 7 (in its 26th week) and their 2017 mini album “Love Yourself: Her” re-entered the chart at No. 19.

ENHYPEN’s latest mini album “THE SIN : VANISH” jumped to No. 3 in its 15th week on the chart, while their 2024 album “ROMANCE : UNTOLD” climbed back up to No. 17 in its 94th week.

CORTIS’s debut EP “COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES” held steady at No. 4 in its 34th week on the chart, and NewJeans’ 2023 mini album “Get Up” rose to No. 9 in its 138th week.

Stray Kids charted four different albums this week: “DO IT” climbed to No. 10 (in its 23rd week), “KARMA” to No. 13 (in its 36th week), and “ATE” to No. 16 (in its 93rd week), while “★★★★★ (5-STAR)” re-entered the chart at No. 23 (marking its 82nd week).

ATEEZ’s “GOLDEN HOUR : Part.4” maintained its position at No. 20 in its 12th week on the chart, while BTS’s Jimin’s solo album “MUSE” re-entered the chart at No. 24 (marking its 89th week on the chart).

Red Velvet’s Joy is preparing to get a pet grooming certification!

In a newly released preview for next week’s episode of “Home Alone” (“I Live Alone”), Joy reveals that she has begun attending a pet grooming academy and is studying to obtain a certification.

Explaining why she began studying pet grooming, Joy says candidly, “If I wind up not being able to do this job [singing] in the future, I thought it would be good to have a skill set.”

After revealing that she’s been studying for two months now, Joy dives into trying to complete her first wig, but the task proves more difficult than she  expected. 

Joy then introduces her dog Haetnim before studying for her written exam, which is coming up in July.

“Perfect Crown” and “Yumi’s Cells 3” once again claimed all of the top spots on this week’s rankings of the most buzzworthy dramas and actors!

For the fourth consecutive week, MBC’s “Perfect Crown” remained No. 1 on Good Data Corporation’s weekly list of the dramas that generated the most buzz. The company determines each week’s rankings by collecting data from news articles, blog posts, online communities, videos, and social media about dramas that are either currently airing or set to air soon.

In addition to topping the list of the most buzzworthy dramas, “Perfect Crown” also held onto the top spots on the list of the most buzzworthy drama cast members, where leads IU and Byeon Woo Seok remained No. 1 and No. 2 respectively.

tvN’s “Yumi’s Cells 3” swept the next spots on both lists, maintaining its position at No. 2 on the drama list. Leading man Kim Jae Won held steady at No. 3 on the actor list, followed by star Kim Go Eun at No. 6.

JTBC’s “We Are All Trying Here” remained unmoving at No. 3 on the drama list, with leads Koo Kyo Hwan and Go Youn Jung taking No. 4 and No. 7 respectively on the actor list.

Both tvN’s “Filing for Love” and JTBC’s “We Are All Trying Here” are on the rise!

On May 10, “Filing for Love” wrapped up the first half of its run on its highest viewership ratings yet. According to Nielsen Korea, the sixth episode of the romantic comedy jumped to an average nationwide rating of 9.4 percent, nearly doubling its ratings from the night before.

Not only did “Filing for Love” take first place in its time slot across all channels, including public broadcast networks, but it was the most-watched show of any kind to air on cable on Sunday—and the second most-watched program overall.

“We Are All Trying Here” also achieved its highest ratings to date last night, when it rose to an average nationwide rating of 3.9 percent—marking the drama’s first time breaking out of the 2 percent range.

Finally, KBS 2TV’s “Recipe for Love” continued its reign as the most-watched show of Sunday with an average nationwide rating of 14.3 percent.

On May 10 local time, Billboard announced that BTS’s latest album “ARIRANG” had ranked No. 7 in its seventh consecutive week on the Top 200 Albums chart, which ranks the most popular albums in the United States.

“ARIRANG,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spent its first three weeks at the top of the chart, has now become the first album by a Korean artist ever to spend seven weeks in the top 10.

Last week, CORTIS released their second EP “GREENGREEN” on May 4. By the end of the day, “GREENGREEN” had already sold over 1 million copies, smashing CORTIS’s previous first-week sales record of 436,367 (set by their debut EP “COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES”) within just its first day of sales alone.

Hanteo Chart has now reported that “GREENGREEN” went on to sell a total of 2,313,291 copies in the first week of its release (May 4 to 10), more than quintupling CORTIS’s previous record.

The newly released making-of video begins with the actors experimenting with their portrayal, trying different enunciations to convey the gravity of the scene. IU and Byeon Woo Seok also film their hugging scenes multiple times until they perfect their movements smoothly.

Furthermore, despite Jo Jae Yoon’s chilling portrayal of his character, he shows a softer side with the cast, complimenting Gong Seung Yeon and telling IU that he is a fan and attended her concert.

While filming the final episode of “Yumi’s Cells 3,” Kim Jae Won closes, “There were such strong contenders in Seasons 1 and 2, but thank you so much for choosing me in the end.” He adds, “We’ll live happily for a long, long time,” expressing his thoughts as his character Shin Soon Rok.

4. Park Hyung Sik in “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon”

“Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” stars Park Bo Young as an aspiring game maker who was born with super strength. He ends up hiring Do Bong Soon with the added bonus of letting her develop a game while she works for him.

Known for his charm and lighthearted energy, Park Hyung Sik shows surprising emotional depth here. His most powerful crying scene comes as Min Hyuk desperately tries to save Bong Soon, trapped behind a locked door with a bomb strapped to her. Panic and fear take over, stripping away his usual composure. That contrast makes the moment hit even harder, turning a rom-com scene into something unexpectedly heartbreaking.

MBC’s “Perfect Crown” soared to new heights ahead of the final week of its run!

On May 9, the hit romance drama achieved its highest viewership ratings yet. According to Nielsen Korea, “Perfect Crown” was the most-watched show of any kind to air on Saturday, when it jumped to an average nationwide rating of 13.3 percent.

Despite facing stiff competition from “Perfect Crown,” which airs in the same time slot, SBS’s new drama “My Royal Nemesis” rose to an average nationwide rating of 5.4 percent for its second episode.

In the cable network realm, tvN’s new romantic comedy “Filing for Love” earned its highest ratings to date for a Saturday (when its ratings have typically been lower compared to Sundays). The drama took first place in its time slot across all cable channels with an average nationwide rating of 5.9 percent.

JTBC’s “We Are All Trying Here” also kicked off the second half of its run on its highest Saturday ratings yet, scoring a nationwide average of 2.6 percent for the night.
