If you’re already a fan of hyperpop-inspired tracks and looking for new song recs or just want to learn more about the sound that K-pop has been working with for a while now, this is the list for you.

1. aespa’s “Hot Mess”

A Japan release that doesn’t get nearly as much hype as it should, “Hot Mess” cements aespa’s place as the ruling hyperpop queens in the K-pop industry. The statement-making electronic backtrack combined with the members’ hypnotic vocals make this song super addictive. If you’re a fan of the hyperpop sound in K-pop, then aespa is the group for you!

2. SEVENTEEN’s “GAM3 BO1”

Here’s to the true hyperpop fans—SEVENTEEN’s hip hop line showed up and served! “Unshakable Forties’ Romance” is a bewitching story about a man and a woman in their forties—an age said to be unmoved by temptation—who find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other. A star anchor suffering from early andropause and a third rate writer who used to be his sworn enemy try to revive a ratings-bottomed program—only to end up reviving each other’s long-withered “romance cells.”

Jung Kyung Ho was previously confirmed to play Na Yi Jun, YCB newsroom’s star anchor. He grew up without major hardships in an ordinary middle-class family, scored a perfect score on the college entrance exam, and became the youngest anchor ever—an exceptional figure. However, he is told to step down from the main news and eventually becomes in charge of a low-ratings program and meets Seo Hae Yoon, who appears to be without an ounce of elegance.

Jeon Yeo Been is set to star as writer Seo Hae Yoon, who chases after sensational news and viewership. Having worked across various news stations over 10 years, Seo Hae Yoon has faced all sorts of hardship. If it’s for the sake of increasing viewership, Seo Hae Yoon doesn’t care if the news is gossip. With her life in chaos due to her program being about to be shut down, she only faces even more chaos with the arrival of Na Yi Jun. Meeting at an age in which their hormones make their emotions even more confusing, the two will portray a mature romance as their love cells belated come to life.

Furthermore, Choi Dae Hoon and Kang Mal Geum will portray a realistic couple who meet after divorcing their previous partners.

Choi Dae Hoon will play YCB newsroom reporter Ji Han Soo. Although he wanted to become a news anchor like his close friend Na Yi Joon, he was unable to do so due to a critical pronunciation issue. Harboring wounds after being abandoned in his first marriage despite being loyal in love, he still dreams of romance.

Kang Mal Geum will transform into broadcast writer Heo Mi Eun who is like an older sister to Seo Hae Yoon. She prefers men who are loyal to her over a handsome face.

The production team shared, “After the first script reading, we will soon start filming. Along with Jung Kyung Ho and Jeon Yeo Been who promise to deliver buzz and acting talent, Choi Dae Hoon and Kang Mal Geum’s synergy will depict the strong taste of adult romance that is beyond perfection,” sharing that the drama will air in the first half of 2027.

Set in an alternate universe where modern-day Korea is a constitutional monarchy, “Perfect Crown” tells the love story of Seong Hui Ju (IU), a chaebol heiress who has everything but is only a commoner in status, and Grand Prince Ian (Byeon Woo Seok), a prince who has nothing despite being the son of the king.

Previously in episode 10, a sudden fire broke out in the palace after Prince Ian entered the Pyeonjeon (King’s office) at Min Jung Woo’s (Noh Sang Hyun) request for a meeting. Amidst the ominous atmosphere, attention is focused on whether Prince Ian will survive the fire.

In the released photos, Seong Hui Ju is seen running inside the Pyeonjeon herself to save Prince Ian, who is trapped in the flames. As she searches through the palace regardless of the fiercely rising fire, her face is filled with earnest desperation to save Prince Ian.

Upcoming film “Wild Sing” has shared a new sneak peek of Oh Jung Se’s dramatic transformation!

“Wild Sing” is a comedy movie that tells the story of TRIANGLE, a once-popular co-ed trio that fell into obscurity after an unfortunate incident put a halt to their career. The film follows their chaotic journey as they attempt to reunite and make a comeback 20 years after their glory days.

Oh Jung Se will appear in the film as Sung Gon, a ballad singer who used to be TRIANGLE’s rival. A perennial runner-up who lost first place to TRIANGLE, Sung Gon holds the heartbreaking record of spending 39 consecutive weeks at No. 2.

Newly released stills from the upcoming film capture the contrast between Sung Gon’s glamorous past as a popular singer and his unexpected present as a rugged hunter. 20 years ago, Sung Gon was a heartthrob who made women swoon with his gentle voice and soulful gaze. As befits a “ballad prince,” his stylishly long hair gives him an air of mystery by slightly obscuring one eye with his bangs.

On May 15, Han Soo Ah’s agency Blossom Entertainment announced, “Han Soo Ah will be making a special appearance in SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama ‘My Royal Nemesis.’’

Han Soo Ah will be playing the role of Baek Gwang Nam (Kim Min Seok)’s girlfriend Min Ah, who begins to feel bored in their relationship while watching her boyfriend become increasingly worn down by his struggles to get a job.

Oh Jung Se may be starring in a new drama!

On May 14, Ilgan Sports reported that Oh Jung Se has been named as a strong candidate for the lead role in “Sunning Baseball Club” (literal title), an upcoming TVING original series.

In response to the report, a representative from Oh Jung Se’s agency Prain TPC shared, “’Sunning Baseball Club’ is one of the projects he has received an offer for.”

“Sunning Baseball Club” tells the story of married men struggling to participate in amateur baseball leagues, with Oh Jung Se reportedly offered the lead role. The series will humorously and emotionally portray ordinary married men in their 30s and 40s forming bonds and solidarity through their shared passion for amateur baseball.

The project is the latest work from Min Jin Ki, the director behind the “New Recruit” series and “Salon de Holmes.” The script will be written by Yoon Ki Young, who previously worked with the director on “New Recruit 3” and “New Recruit 4.”

After wrapping up work on “New Recruit 4,” which is scheduled to air later this year, Min Jin Ki is expected to begin full-scale production on “Sunning Baseball Club” with a target release in 2027.

Netflix’s upcoming drama “Teach You a Lesson” has unveiled new stills featuring its cast!

“Teach You a Lesson” is a sharp, cathartic series about the fictional Educational Rights Protection Bureau (ERPB), a government task force created to restore teachers’ authority in an era of unruly students, demanding parents, and struggling schools. The series will be directed by Hong Jong Chan of “Juvenile Justice” and written by Lee Nam Kyu of “Daily Dose of Sunshine.”

The stills show the hero group ERPB stepping in to fix a failing education system, building anticipation for their upcoming actions.

Na Hwa Jin (Kim Moo Yeol), a former special forces member and inspector at the ERPB, is always seen wearing a black suit. While he appears blunt, he consistently stands with victims and is expected to deliver decisive action against those threatening the school environment. It remains to be seen how he will resolve problems in schools in a satisfying way.

Choi Gang Seok (Lee Sung Min), the education minister who founded ERPB, delivers a sharp rebuke to those who oppose or seek to shut down the bureau, stressing the importance of its existence. His deep thought about fixing a struggling education system reinforces his role as the bureau’s steady center.

JTBC’s upcoming drama “Reborn Rookie” has unveiled a new poster!

“Reborn Rookie” follows Kang Yong Ho (Son Hyun Joo), the powerful chairman of the leading conglomerate Choi Sung Group, who is revered as a business genius. After an accident, however, he unexpectedly finds himself living a second life when his soul swaps into the youthful body of a soccer player named Hwang Jun Hyun (Lee Jun Young), forcing him to start over as a rookie employee at his own company.

Kang Yong Ho takes over the body of Hwang Jun Hyun, a soccer player in his 20s, and joins Choi Sung Group as a new employee. Now in Hwang Jun Hyun’s body, he reunites at the company with his youngest daughter, Kang Bang Geul (Lee Ju Myoung), whom he had previously sent abroad for studies, as a colleague. He also meets his eldest daughter, Kang Jae Kyung (Jeon Hye Jin), and his eldest son, Kang Jae Sung (Jin Goo), both of whom are now his supervisors at work.

Upcoming film “The Shrine” has released new stills ahead of its premiere!

“The Shrine” tells the story of three college students who mysteriously disappear during an expedition to an abandoned shrine in Kobe, Japan, and the journey of a shaman and his college friend as they uncover the identity of the evil spirit behind the case.

Deep in the mountains of Kobe, university students participating in a Korea-Japan cultural exchange program suddenly vanish without a trace. The only clue left behind is an abandoned shrine, and as a series of unexplained events begins to spread from that place, tension steadily builds.

Meanwhile, in Korea, shaman Myung Jin (Kim Jae Joong)—who has been suffering from unexplainable nightmares—receives contact from his junior Yoo Mi (Gong Sung Ha), who is connected to the disappearance case. Eventually, he travels to Kobe and personally opens the doors to the abandoned shrine that had long been treated as forbidden ground.

The stills depict Myung Jin and Yoo Mi encountering not a clue to the disappearances, but something far beyond the realm of humanity.

As individuals with different motives gather around the abandoned shrine, the story’s tension intensifies.

ENA’s upcoming drama “Doctor on the Edge” has released new stills featuring Lee Jae Wook and Shin Ye Eun!

“Doctor on the Edge” will tell the love story of public health doctor Do Ji Eui (Lee Jae Wook), who is assigned to the notorious island Pyeondong, and nurse Yook Ha Ri (Shin Ye Eun), who is hiding a secret. After crossing paths on a remote island, they embark on a heartwarming journey of saving lives and learning about love as they get to know the island’s residents.

The newly released stills capture the changes in the relationship between Yook Ha Ri and Do Ji Eui as she begins to break down the walls he had built around himself. Yook Ha Ri suddenly appears before Do Ji Eui, who is far from pleased to be on Pyeondong Island, and his bewildered reaction to her headset trick sparks curiosity about their first meeting.

The next set of stills captures a late-night date between the two. Yook Ha Ri smiles like a child as she shows Do Ji Eui one of Pyeondong’s treasures, while he gazes at her in apparent admiration. Expectations are rising for the story of Do Ji Eui, who must survive on the infamous island of Pyeondong, and Yook Ha Ri, who becomes his guide, as the two gradually grow closer to each other.

Speaking about working with Shin Ye Eun, Lee Jae Wook shared, “She had a bright and radiant energy. At the same time, she is an actress who is both composed and inspires trust in her co-stars,” adding, “Working together, I felt she was prepared for every moment. She is honest with her emotions, and that energy was naturally conveyed on set.”

Shin Ye Eun also praised her co-star, saying, “Just the fact that we’re the same age made me feel closer to him, and my first impression was that he was kind and easygoing.”

She continued, “Not only in acting, but also in the way he carefully looked after the entire set, he showed a great deal of maturity, and I felt I could learn a lot from him. He was a wonderful partner who created an environment where both the actors and staff could work comfortably.”

“Doctor on the Edge” will premiere on June 1 at 10 p.m. KST.

“The Grim Reaper Life Extension Project” is a human black comedy about a principled rookie Grim Reaper and a veteran Grim Reaper supervisor who is a professional rule-breaker. The two become involved in a forbidden effort to extend human life beyond its limits.

Lee Min Ki plays Kang Rim, a veteran Grim Reaper who often bends the rules but remains the top performer in his field.

Hyungwon portrays Jun Ho, a rookie Grim Reaper who strictly follows the rules and treats death strictly as work. After meeting Kang Rim, Jun Ho begins to question his beliefs.

Kang Rim, while observing Jun Ho, gradually becomes involved in unexpected situations. Attention is focused on the dynamic and chemistry between the two Grim Reapers, who have opposite personalities.

“The Grim Reaper Life Extension Project” was developed as a multi-format project from the early stages of production, spanning film, mid-form content, and short-form content.

The project aims to expand the use of its intellectual property by adapting a single story into formats of different lengths and pacing. It also serves as a strategic effort to respond to increasingly diverse content consumption patterns.

“My Royal Nemesis” has unveiled new stills ahead of the upcoming episode!

SBS’s “My Royal Nemesis” is a romantic comedy starring Lim Ji Yeon as Shin Seo Ri, a struggling actress who is suddenly possessed by the spirit of a notorious villainess from the Joseon era. Heo Nam Jun stars as Cha Se Gye, a ruthless chaebol heir who is known as a “monster created by capitalism.”

Previously in “My Royal Nemesis,” Shin Seo Ri and Yoon Ji Hyo (Lee Se Hee) clashed during the “Searching for the Queen” audition for Dynasty, a newly launched brand by Se Gye. Refusing to be intimidated by top star Ji Hyo, Seo Ri confidently spoke her mind, criticizing Ji Hyo for saying she wanted to become a “wise wife and good mother” and declaring that she would remain unmarried.

The newly released stills show a tense confrontation between Seo Ri, Ji Hyo, and agency CEO Hong Bu Seon (Baek Ji Won). The three face off in what appears to be a fierce two-against-one battle. Meanwhile, Seo Ri’s tense facial expression and visibly swollen red cheek hint at a troubling turn of events.

Seo Ri, possessed by the spirit of the Joseon-era villainess concubine Kang Dan Shim, fights back fiercely. She gives off an intimidating presence as she stares down Ji Hyo, who tries to slap her, with the sharp gaze of a predator. Ji Hyo also appears shocked by Seo Ri’s intense energy, heightening anticipation over how the confrontation will unfold.

One of the popular and sought-after C-drama stars, Zhang Ling He’s acting credits include several historical and Wuxia dramas as well as modern love stories, each highlighting his screen presence as well as acting abilities. From playing a young student burdened with performance pressure to an empathetic doctor and even the the formidable god of war, the actor’s screen presence and the natural chemistry with his co stars has often stood out.

“The Best Thing”

Shen Xi Fan (Xu Ruo Han) is an overworked manager at a hotel. Though adept at her job, the constant stress of work and inflexible hours take a toll on her health. Her unsupportive rich boyfriend, whose family looks down on her as well as her work, further adds to her emotional exhaustion.

In need of a cure for her insomnia and migraines, she seeks help from a traditional Chinese medicine doctor named He Su Ye (Zhang Ling He). What starts off as a regular doctor-patient relationship develops into a friendship when the two realize they live in the same area. The comfort of the interactions with Su Ye, and the warmth he offers as a friend and a confidant, helps in Xi Fan’s emotional recovery. The friendship blossoms into a tender loving relationship between the two, as both come to understand they are the best thing to have happened to each other.

Unlike her former boyfriend, Su Ye encourages Xi Fan to follow her dreams and never once judges her nor her commitment towards her job. On the other hand, though he is constantly mocked for choosing traditional medicine over western medicine, Su Ye remains firm in his convictions.

“The Best Thing” is a warm and feel good drama. From moxibustion, aromatherapy, and invigorating walks around parks to the healing benefits of roots and herbs, the love story unfolds through a very lived in experience. Zhang Ling He as the wonderful and romantic Su Ye gets a perfect score for being one of the most understanding onscreen boyfriends.

“Love Between Fairy and Devil”

This fantasy drama is a fan favorite amongst fans, with Zhang Ling He making the second lead syndrome a reality. The romance focuses on the fearsome Devil Lord and the leader of the Moon Tribe, Dongfang Qingcang (Dylan Wang), who has been imprisoned for centuries, and the Orchid Fairy, Xiao Lan Hua (Esther Yu), who accidentally sets him free.

Zhang Ling He plays the charming God of War, Lord Changheng, who has been in love with Xiao Lan Hua. Changheng is the opposite to the rakish Dongfang Qingcang: he is compassionate, considerate, and caring. Caught between his duties towards his kingdom and love for Xiao Lan Hua and her well-being, Changheng is one of the most enduring characters.

He also plays a double role as that of Xiao Run, the rich prankster and playboy in the mortal realm. Though both his characters across the two realms are distinct from the other, the actor brings both aspects of them to life with ease.

The bromance between Changfeng and Dongfang Qingcang is one of the highlights and a treat for fans of both Dylan Wang and Zhang Ling He.

“Our Generation”

The coming-of-age drama tells the story of a cheerful young girl named Lin Qi Le (Zhao Jin Mai), who is loved and adored by her parents and friends. However, life changes with the arrival of the reserved and brilliant math prodigy, Jiang Qiao Xi (Zhang Ling He).

Qiao Xi keeps to himself and is always locked away cramming and studying, but Qi Le breaks through his barriers and pulls him into her circle of friends. This is perhaps the first time the young boy experiences warmth and freedom, something his cold and aloof parents have never given him.

But Qiao Xi is taken away by his mother and cuts all ties with Qi Le. The persistent Qi Le tracks him down, but he remains distant. Qi Le understands there is more to him than he allows anyone to see, but she cannot break through the walls. She constantly makes the effort and even manages to succeed, only for him to disappears once again from her life. Qi Le doesn’t give up on Qiao Xi or the feelings they share and is determined to seek and heal him.

A heartfelt drama which captures the ache of growing pains, first love, and heartbreak, Zhang Ling He as Qiao Xi is a character who makes you feel and root for him.

“Story of Kunning Palace”

This drama is a story of redemption seen through the eyes of its protagonist, Jiang Xue Ning (Bai Lu). “The Princess Royal”

Li Rong (Zhao Jin Mai) and Pei Wen Xuan (Zhang Ling He) were married at 18 for political gain. There is no affection nor love between the couple, and the alliance is purely business as she uses his family background to avert disaster, and he uses her royal status to establish himself.

Over time, the two are trapped in a loveless marriage, with Wen Xuan seeking love elsewhere and Li Rong trapped in a life of excess. They turn against each other, ultimately leading to their deaths. But instead of dying, they go back in time and return to their 18-year-old selves. Wen Xuan once again seeks Li Rong to marry her, but is convinced to divorce her again.

As the two restart their lives all over again, they gain fresh perspective towards each other, coming closer as individuals. But will the spark they so lacked previously ever be ignited?

Li Rong and Wen Xuan are complex individuals, each making questionable decisions. Zhang Ling He and Zhao Jin Mai share a good onscreen chemistry and both deliver a nuanced and layered performance.

On May 14, a media outlet reported that Lim Ji Yeon will play dual roles as the lead in the upcoming drama “Alike.”

In response to the report, a representative from her agency Artist Company commented, “Lim Ji Yeon has received an offer to appear in the drama ‘Alike’ and is currently reviewing it.”

“Alike” is a modern reinterpretation of “The Prince and the Pauper.” It follows a struggling job seeker who, after finally landing a job, is fired and even sent to prison in place of the company owner’s heir simply because they look alike. After her release, she teams up with other “underdogs” to overthrow the “king.”

Lim Ji Yeon is in talks to play Lee Eun Seok, an ordinary yet likable woman with a cheerful, cute, and humorous personality. She is a common citizen who loves her family, keeps her promises, and believes that what one desires must be earned through hard work and effort. Get ready to see BTS at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final Halftime Show!

On May 14, FIFA World Cup announced that BTS, along with global stars Madonna and Shakira, will co-headline at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final Half Time Show, which will take place on July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium.

The Halftime Show will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to expand “access to quality education and football soccer for children worldwide.” The show will be live streamed globally, and Coldplay’s Chris Martin will be in charge of curation, with iconic characters from “Sesame Street” and “The Muppets” also joining the lineup.

Previously, BTS performed at the 2021 Global Citizen LIVE, and member Jungkook also released the song “Dreamers” for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
