According to Hanteo Chart, PLAVE achieved their highest first-week sales yet with the new mini album. In the first week of its release (April 14 to 20), “Caligo Pt.2” sold an impressive total of 1,255,801 copies—breaking PLAVE’s previous first-week sales record of 1,095,634 set by their single album “PLBBUU” last year.

“Caligo Pt.2” is PLAVE’s third album to sell over 1 million copies in its first week, following “Caligo Pt.1” and “PLBBUU.”

On April 21, &TEAM held a comeback showcase for their new EP “We on Fire.” After a delay in the start of the showcase, it was announced that due to a “worsening of Nicholas’ health,” he would not be able to participate in the group’s performances and would only be on stage for part of the event.

After the showcase, YX LABELS shared the following update:

Hello. This is YX Labels.

We are making an announcement regarding the state of &TEAM member Nicholas’ health.

Due to a sudden worsening of his health, Nicholas was unable to participate in part of “&TEAM 3rd EP SHOWCASE ‘We on Fire’” today. We ask for fans’ generous understanding.

Although the artist was strongly determined to participate in the performances, it was determined that proceeding with performing would be difficult given the state of his health at the time. Because we considered our artist’s health our top priority, we wound up limiting his participation to only part of the event.

Nicholas is currently resting, and we are continuously monitoring the progress of his recovery. We would like to apologize for giving cause for concern to the audience members who looked forward to and attended today’s showcase. Not only is “Ode to Love” NCT WISH’s first album to sell over 1 million copies on its first day, but within just one day of sales, it has already managed to come close to the group’s personal first-week sales record of 1,395,217 (also set by “COLOR”).

Meanwhile, NCT WISH’s title track “Ode to Love” reached No. 3 on Melon’s Top 100, marking the group’s highest ranking yet on the chart. As of 11 p.m. KST on April 21, “Ode to Love” had returned to its peak of No. 3, proving itself a stable hit.

The court has ruled in favor of the six FANTASY BOYS members and BAE173’s Doha who filed injunctions to suspend contracts with their agency PocketDol Studio.

Back in November 2025, BAE173’s Doha along with FANTASY BOYS’ Kang Minseo, Lee Hanbin, Hikaru, Hong Sungmin, Kim Gyurae, and Kaedan filed lawsuits against PocketDol Studio seeking confirmation of the non-existence of their exclusive contracts and injunctions to suspend their validity.

On April 16, the court ruled to grant the injunctions to suspend the exclusive contracts of the six FANTASY BOYS members. While the court acknowledged that the agency had provided statements regarding payment for the first and second quarters of 2025, it identified the lack of specificity in income details and the failure to attach supporting documents as the primary causes for the breakdown of trust.

Following the court ruling, FANTASY BOYS’ agencies PocketDol Studio and Phunky Studio announced their intention to immediately appeal the decision, stating, “The practical realities of entertainment management and the contract fulfillment process were not sufficiently considered,” and added that the judgment “focused only on certain procedural requirements.”

It was additionally revealed on April 21 that the court also granted the injunction filed by Doha against PocketDol Studio.

Regarding the decision, Doha took to his Instagram to share the following message:

Unapologetically loud, chaotic, and packed with exaggerated humor, the drama fully embraces its farcical tone while still delivering a surprisingly heartfelt romance. It wastes no time throwing viewers into absurd yet entertaining situations, setting the stage for a story that thrives on misunderstandings, physical comedy, and strong character dynamics. Beneath all the chaos, however, lies a narrative with genuine charm, making it an easy and enjoyable watch for those willing to lean into its madness.

Warning: spoilers ahead!

An actual romantic comedy

One complaint that rom-com audiences often have is that, when it comes to contemporary romance dramas, the word “comedy” is more often than not irresponsibly thrown around. Not every contemporary romance is a rom-com, especially not when it makes you cry more than it makes you laugh. “My Love in the Countryside,” however, is a perfect blend of romance and comedy, where the romantic interactions are often elevated by farcical humor. The evidence is right there in the very first scene of episode 1.

The drama opens with our male lead, Mana (August Vachiravit Paisarnkulwong), up on a tree, successfully doing what a farmer does at that height when he notices the female lead, Saisamorn (Namfah Thunyaphat Phataraterachaijaroen). She is sitting in a car with a man who can only be assumed to be her boyfriend based on the lack of personal space between them. However, she is clearly not enjoying his attempt to kiss her, so she starts screaming for help. The entire situation turns out to be a huge misunderstanding. The man is also an actor, simply shooting a scene.

Mana, upon witnessing this, wastes no time. He drops a literal coconut on the man’s head, jumps down from the tree, and starts beating him up. Later, after Saisamorn is done thanking him, a scorpion crawls up her leg, making her jump into Mana’s arms. He throws the scorpion away but teases her about it, causing her to jump into his arms again. This leads to yet another misunderstanding when Mana’s self-proclaimed lover, whom he was engaged to without his consent as a child, sees them together. She misinterprets the situation, resulting in a quarrel between the two women.

Chaotic, right? All of this unfolds within the first eight minutes of the show, with the first minute and a half dedicated to the opening sequence. Despite the situations themselves already being funny, the actors’ exaggerated, over-the-top physical comedy elevates the humor even further.

Strong female lead

While “My Love in the Countryside” is a romance, the female lead remains at the center of the story. In a narrative like this, it is crucial for the focal character to be compelling, and Saisamorn delivers. At the beginning of the drama, the audience is misled into assuming she is a naive rich girl who knows nothing about the real world. However, although she has been raised in luxury, she is self-aware, mentally strong, and, most importantly, deeply passionate about acting.

She does not pursue acting for fame but because she genuinely loves the craft and wants to prove herself. Her determination becomes evident when she accepts the challenge of living in a village for the first time to prove she is the perfect choice for the in-drama film “My Love in the Countryside.”

Even in the village, she eagerly takes on new challenges: participating in an ox race, playing a pig-catching game in a muddy pit, and even beating up a man who dares to look at her the wrong way. While Saisamorn may lack experience with rural life, she has the courage to face any challenge head-on. It is precisely this fire that makes her character so compelling.

A realistic male lead to root for

The male lead in “My Love in the Countryside” is not the type who would fight the entire village for his lover, at least not at first. This gradual growth and character development are what make Mana so endearing.

Although Mana is intelligent and emotionally mature, he has grown up under an overbearing mother. She even decided who he would marry during his childhood and arranged his engagement. In many dramas, a typical heir-type male lead would be portrayed as resentful, distant, or openly disrespectful toward such parents. However, Mana, despite disliking his parents’ decisions, remains respectful. This offers a more realistic depiction of adults raised in controlling households that are not entirely abusive. Cultural expectations often make it difficult for children to openly defy their parents.

This nuance makes Mana’s struggles feel authentic and his eventual journey toward independence all the more satisfying. You cannot help but root for him.

Impeccable acting

Acting is difficult on its own, but comedy raises the stakes even higher as timing is crucial. If the delivery falters, the entire scene falls apart. When the genre leans into slapstick or farce, requiring exaggerated performances, the challenge becomes even greater.

However, both the main actors, Namfah Thunyaphat Phataraterachaijaroen and August Vachiravit Paisarnkulwong, along with the supporting cast, handle these demands skillfully. Whether the female lead is suspended 50 feet in the air or covered in mud, the performances remain convincing and entertaining. At the same time, the actors effectively convey emotional depth when needed, ensuring that the viewing experience remains engaging throughout.

In the end, “My Love in the Countryside” succeeds by fully committing to its chaos while grounding it in likable characters and sincere emotion. It may not be subtle, but it is undeniably entertaining. For viewers open to exaggerated humor and heartfelt romance, this drama delivers exactly what it promises and does so confidently.

Set in a peaceful rural village, “Bonjour Bakery” is a healing baking variety show centered on Korea’s first senior French dessert café, where pastries are crafted using local ingredients. The show stars Kim Hee Ae, Cha Seung Won, Kim Seon Ho, and Lee Ki Taek.

The newly released teaser shows the members warmly welcoming elderly guests to the country’s first senior dessert café. Kim Hee Ae greets them with a playful ID check—since the café is exclusively for those aged 65 and older—lightly joking, “Are you sure you’re over 65? You look so young,” setting a warm and friendly tone from the start.

At the front of house, Kim Hee Ae melts hearts with her gentle, attentive conversations, while Kim Seon Ho naturally engages guests with his easygoing charm. In the kitchen, Cha Seung Won and Lee Ki Taek take the lead, crafting artistic desserts using locally sourced ingredients. With their delicate techniques and visually stunning creations, they promise a fresh kind of emotional experience—offering elderly guests in the rural village the rare joy of tasting French desserts for the very first time.

“Bonjour Bakery” has already garnered significant buzz for being created by hit-making variety show creators. PD Park Geun Hyung of “You Quiz on the Block” and writer Kim Ran Joo, known for “2 Days & 1 Night” and “Infinite Challenge,” have teamed up once again, heralding the birth of a new healing variety show.

Writer Kim Ran Joo shared, “The idea began from a memory of my father, who moved to the city and smiled brightly after tasting a dessert for the first time in his life. Watching him find joy in even a simple dessert that cost just a few thousand won made me realize that happiness for the elderly can be more modest than we think.”

PD Park Geun Hyung added that the goal is “to offer seniors a special experience through French desserts made with wholesome local ingredients, allowing those who eat them to feel pure happiness.”

“Bonjour Bakery” is set to premiere on May 8 at 4 p.m. KST on Coupang Play.

The prosecution has requested a sentence of one year and six months in prison for WINNER’s Song Mino.

On April 21, at the first trial hearing for Song Mino and an individual identified as Mr. Lee, who was responsible for managing his service and both of whom are accused of violating the Military Service Act and related charges, the prosecution requested a prison sentence of one year and six months for Song Mino.

The prosecution made the request, stating, “The defendant appears to have been absent without leave for a prolonged period and did not perform actual duties.”

Previously, Song Mino was indicted without detention on charges of failing to properly fulfill his duties while serving as a public service worker. He allegedly did not report to work properly, and even on days he did show up, he reportedly spent only a short time there, lying down and playing games before leaving.

According to reports, the prosecution stated in the indictment that Song Mino was absent without leave for a total of 102 days. Out of the 21-month service period required for public service workers, there are approximately 430 actual working days. If the prosecution’s claims are accurate, this would mean he was absent for about one quarter of the required service period.

MBC’s “Perfect Crown” has shared a glimpse of its stars behind the scenes of filming!

Set in an alternate universe where modern-day Korea is a constitutional monarchy, “Perfect Crown” tells the love story of Seong Hui Ju (IU), a chaebol heiress who has everything but is only a commoner in status, and Grand Prince Ian (Byeon Woo Seok), a prince who has nothing despite being the son of the king.

The newly released behind-the-scenes photos showcase the cast’s strong bond and playful chemistry on set. The photos feature affectionate moments between IU and Byeon Woo Seok. One image shows IU wearing a cute traditional flower headpiece, while another shows Byeon Woo Seok pretending to be a staff member as he plays around with a walkie-talkie.

The photos also include shots of the kiss scene that had viewers swooning, as well as images of the two affectionately taking selfies during a baseball stadium date. IU and Byeon Woo Seok are also seen caring for child actor Kim Eun Ho, who plays the current king.

“The Scarecrow” follows a detective investigating a series of murders who is forced into an unlikely partnership with a man he despises. Set between 1988 and 2019, the suspenseful story tracks two men bound by misfortune and an uneasy alliance of hatred as they chase the truth across 30 years.

In the previous episode, Kang Tae Joo (Park Hae Soo) reunited with Cha Si Young (Lee Hee Joon). Convinced that three recent murders in Gangseong are part of a serial case, Kang Tae Joo joined forces with prosecutor Hwang Jae Hoon (Park Sung Hoon), delivering an unexpected act of revenge against Cha Si Young. In response, Cha Si Young issued a chilling warning: “I’ll take this case back. And I’ll have you by my side again—just like before,” hinting at the resurfacing of their deeply entangled past.

Now assigned as the lead detective on the case, Kang Tae Joo is seen in the newly released stills engaged in a serious discussion with Seo Ji Won (Kwak Sun Young), Kang Tae Joo’s close friend and a reporter, who is unexpectedly brought into the investigation.

Neatly folded clothing placed on Seo Ji Won’s hands signals their plan to carry out a trap operation, hoping to lure the killer, who disguises himself as a scarecrow, into revealing himself.

In the next still, Seo Ji Won walks alone through the darkness, her face tense with apprehension. Meanwhile, Kang Tae Joo and Park Dae Ho (Ryu Hae Joon) are shown hiding in a cornfield, carefully monitoring their surroundings. With the killer known to target women walking alone at night, anticipation builds over whether he will finally make an appearance.

In the upcoming Episode 2, Kang Tae Joo throws everything into capturing the serial killer—from securing testimony from a surviving victim to carrying out the bait operation using a female officer. However, Cha Si Young interferes in an unexpected way, while news of a sudden accident involving Kang Tae Joo’s younger sibling Kang Soon Young (Seo Ji Hye) throws the investigation into crisis.

The production team commented, “As the conflict between Kang Tae Joo and Cha Si Young intensifies, the situation will become increasingly chaotic.
