The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for dramas!

The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, community awareness, and viewership indexes of 20 popular dramas, using big data collected from March 14 to April 14.

“Phantom Lawyer” topped this month’s list with a brand reputation index of 3,980,372. High-ranking phrases in the drama’s keyword analysis included “Esom,” “Yoo Yeon Seok,” and “tears,” while its highest-ranking related terms included “passionate acting,” “condemn,” and “possessed.” The show’s positivity-negativity analysis revealed a score of 91.50 percent positive reactions.

“Climax” came in at a close second for April with a brand reputation index of 3,628,812, while “Recipe for Love” followed in third with a score of 3,493,214.

“Siren’s Kiss” took fourth place with a brand reputation index of 3,150,688, and “Our Happy Days” rounded out the top five with a score of 3,150,688.

CORTIS’s upcoming EP is on track to become a “double-million seller”!

On April 15, BIGHIT MUSIC announced that according to CORTIS’s album distributors YG PLUS and Universal Records, the rookie boy group’s upcoming mini album “GREENGREEN” had recorded a total of 2,020,224 stock pre-orders as of April 13.

The number of stock pre-orders is the amount of album stock that is produced prior to an album’s release. The figure is the estimated demand calculated using various factors, including how many albums were pre-ordered by fans.

Earlier this month, CORTIS broke the record for the best-selling debut album in K-pop history with their first mini album “COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES.” According to Circle Chart data, the EP had sold a total of 2,060,963 copies as of April 4, making it only the second debut album ever to sell over 2 million copies (after ZEROBASEONE’s “YOUTH IN THE SHADE”).

With three weeks still left to go before the release of “GREENGREEN” on May 4, it remains to be seen how much higher the mini album’s stock pre-orders will climb.

Circle Chart (formerly known as Gaon Chart) has announced its latest batch of official certifications!

In 2018, the Korea Music Content Industry Association implemented a new certification system for album sales, song downloads, and online streaming. Starting with music released on or after January 1, 2018, Circle Chart now certifies albums platinum once they reach 250,000 sales, while albums that have sold a million copies or more receive a “million” certification.

Stray Kids earned a triple million certification this month for selling over 3 million copies of their 2024 mini album “ATE.”

ATEEZ earned two separate certifications for their latest mini album “GOLDEN HOUR : Part.4.” The regular version of the album was certified triple platinum for over 750,000 copies sold, while the POCA version was certified platinum for over 250,000 copies sold.

IVE’s latest album “REVIVE+” was also certified triple platinum for selling over 750,000 copies.

Meanwhile, NewJeans received a double platinum certification after selling over 500,000 copies of the Weverse version of their 2023 single album “OMG.”

NCT JNJM’s unit debut mini album “BOTH SIDES” and the MINIRECORD version of Park Ji Hyeon’s “MASTER VOICE” were both certified platinum for selling over 250,000 copies each.

ENA’s upcoming drama “The Scarecrow” has unveiled new stills featuring its supporting cast!

“The Scarecrow” follows a detective investigating a series of murders who is forced into an unlikely partnership with a man he despises. Set between 1988 and 2019, the suspenseful story tracks two men bound by misfortune and an uneasy alliance of hatred as they chase the truth across 30 years.

The stills show characters who appear to have stepped out of Gangseong in 1988 and reflect the mood and emotion of that time. First, the stills show Lee Ki Beom (Song Geon Hee) and Kang Soon Young (Seo Ji Hye) looking at each other with warm, affectionate eyes.

The two are a same-age couple who grew up in the same neighborhood and have promised to marry, but they are unexpectedly pulled into a series of murders and face major hardships. Lee Ki Beom, the younger brother of Lee Ki Hwan (Jung Moon Sung), is a responsible young man who will do anything for his family and loved ones. Kang Soon Young, the younger sister of Kang Tae Joo (Park Hae Soo), is an elementary school teacher with a calm and steady personality.

Another still shows Lee Ki Hwan, a bookstore owner, spending time with longtime hometown friends and former elementary school classmates Kang Tae Joo and Seo Ji Won (Kwak Sun Young) after a long time, looking happier and more comfortable than ever.

In another still, Kang Tae Joo is seen with four Gangseong Police Station officers Kim Man Chun (Baek Hyun Jin), Jang Myung Do (Jeon Jae Hong), Do Hyung Gu (Kim Eun Woo), and Park Dae Ho (Ryu Hae Joon) as they review case logs together. They work both independently and together to catch the true culprit behind the serial killings that have shaken Gangseong.

Squad chief Kim Man Chun is a seasoned officer with depth and experience who delivers a strong and steady presence. With his down-to-earth leadership, he serves as a pillar of support for Kang Tae Joo.

In contrast, Jang Myung Do and Do Hyung Gu are figures who frequently clash with Kang Tae Joo and drive conflict. Their intense and rough presence dominates the atmosphere, portraying corrupt officers who bow to power and rely on violence.

The youngest detective at Gangseong Police Station, Park Dae Ho, is shown in a tense and cautious stance. Though still clumsy and inexperienced, he diligently follows Kang Tae Joo and takes part in investigations at crime scenes.

The show keeps the original “trip without advance notice” travel concept from “Youth Over Flowers” but adds new rules to make the journey more entertaining, such as a budget cap of 100,000 won (approximately $67.20) per person. The strict limits create unexpected challenges and situations, leading to genuine reactions from the three cast members.

The newly released teaser begins with Jung Yu Mi, Park Seo Joon, and Choi Woo Shik sitting together on a train, engrossed in their phones. Helmed by “Train to Busan” and “Peninsula” director Yeon Sang Ho, “Colony” follows the story that unfolds as a building is blockaded due to an unknown virus as those infected evolve into unpredictable forms, threatening the survivors. The film has been officially invited to the Midnight Screenings section of the 79th Cannes International Film Festival, earning critical acclaim prior to its premiere.

The newly released poster features multiple infected individuals, all covered in blood. They are captured in what appears to be a parking lot.

The accompanying international trailer begins with Seo Young Cheol (Koo Kyo Hwan) announcing that he was going to run an experiment before correcting himself to say that it is not an experiment but rather terrorism. In one scene, chaos ensues in a building as infected individuals appear and begin attacking people.

The teaser also gives a glimpse of the struggle for survival of the uninfected in the building. Multiple scenes show Choi Hyun Seok (Ji Chang Wook), Kwon Se Jung (Jun Ji Hyun), and other uninfected individuals trying to escape from the infected. The teaser ends with a blindfolded Seo Young Cheol whistling with a smile on his face as if he is content with the result of his mysterious experiment.

He continues his search while working at a Chinese restaurant, but as family responsibilities and earning a living take priority, 10 years pass.

tvN’s “Filing for Love” is a romantic comedy that tells the story of Noh Ki Joon (Gong Myoung), the ace of a major corporation’s audit department, who is suddenly demoted to the team that handles internal misconduct. As a result, he winds up getting entangled with Joo In Ah (Shin Hae Sun), a tough and eccentric team leader who is hiding a secret.

Hong Hwa Yeon plays Park Ah Jeong, the Haemu Group’s goddess and secretary.

The newly released stills show Park Ah Jeong in an elegant look. Her confident gaze and stride convey professionalism as she skillfully assists Haemu Group Executive Vice Chairman Jeon Jae Yeol (Kim Jae Wook), staying one step behind him as his secretary. Park Ah Jeong, however, does not easily open her heart to others.

Hong Hwa Yeon said, “It was refreshing that the audit team, which has a serious image, is assigned to handle company misconduct cases. I found it interesting that this process adds liveliness and energy to the drama.”

On April 15, DKZ’s agency DONGYO ENTERTAINMENT released an official statement announcing that the members will halt group activities on May 31.

First, we sincerely thank all fans who have been sending DKZ unwavering love and support.

After sufficient discussions with the members, it has been agreed that the group’s activities will conclude with their final scheduled commitments through May 31, 2026.

We would like to express our deep gratitude for the valuable effort and time of the members who have walked this path with us: Jaechan and Jonghyeong, who have led the team brightly for the past seven years, and Sehyeon, Mingyu, and Giseok, who joined in 2022 and added great strength. Jin Ki Joo will be starring in a new medical drama!

On April 15, it was announced that JIn Ki Joo has been confirmed to star as the lead in the upcoming KBS2 drama “Sleeping Doctor” (literal title).

“Sleeping Doctor” is a romantic comedy that follows Hong Gyeong, a rookie self-employed clinic owner, and Nam Ji Oh, a jack-of-all-trades pay doctor, as their lives unfold at a struggling private psychiatric clinic.

Jin Ki Joo transforms into Hong Gyeong, the director of Healer Mental Health Clinic in the drama. Hong Gyeong is a psychiatrist with proven skills, but she has trouble with her own mental health due to past trauma. Seeking a fresh start, she opens her own private clinic, only to face an unexpected obstacle: in an ironic twist, she keeps falling asleep—but only in front of her patients. As Hong Kyung struggles to survive as a neighborhood clinic, she meets Nam Ji Oh, a freelance doctor, and reaches a turning point in her life.

Jin Ki Joo, who previously demonstrated a wide acting range through various dramas including “Undercover High School,” “Uncle Samsik,” and “My Perfect Stranger,” is set to portray the character’s complex inner world with nuance. Kim Sung Cheol is in talks for the role of Nam Ji Oh, while Kim Yoon Hye has reportedly been offered the role of Jang Hye Jung, a nurse at Healer Mental Health Clinic, where Hong Gyeong serves as the director.

The production team remarked, “We’re very happy to be working with actress Jin Ki Joo. This past weekend, Billboard announced that BTS’s studio album “ARIRANG” was now spending a historic third week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, which ranks the most popular albums in the United States.

On April 14 local time, Billboard went on to reveal more of BTS’s achievements on this week’s charts. In addition to remaining No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart—meaning it was the best-selling album in the United States for the third week in a row—“ARIRANG” reclaimed the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Vinyl Albums chart.

BTS topped a total of seven different Billboard charts this week, including the Artist 100, where they remained No. 1 in their 345th overall week on the chart.

BTS’s title track “SWIM” also held onto its spot at No. 1 on both Billboard’s Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. chart for the third week in a row. Additionally, all 13 songs from “ARIRANG” that include vocals (with the sole exception of the instrumental track “No. 29,” which features only the tolling of the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok) remained in the top 40 of the Global Excl. The leads of the popular drama “Climax” dominated this month’s list, which star Ju Ji Hoon topped with a brand reputation index of 3,359,275.
