BTS’s latest album is enjoying a strong second week in the United Kingdom!

Last week, BTS achieved their highest ranking yet on the Official Singles Chart (widely regarded as the U.K. equivalent to Billboard’s Hot 100) when “SWIM” debuted at No. 2. The group also scored their third No. 1 entry on the Official Albums Chart with “ARIRANG,” which debuted at the top of the chart.

This week, both “ARIRANG” and “SWIM” held steady in the top five of the U.K. charts: “ARIRANG” took No. 4 in its second week on the Official Albums Chart, while “SWIM” dipped to No. 5 on the Official Singles Chart.

Two of BTS’s B-sides from “ARIRANG” also made this week’s Official Singles Chart. “Body to Body” spent its second week on the chart at No. 49, while “NORMAL” entered the chart at No. 74.

The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community awareness indexes of 50 popular entertainers, using big data collected from March 4 to April 4.

Yoo Jae Suk continued his reign at the top of the list this month with a brand reputation index of 5,853,452. High-ranking phrases in his keyword analysis included “How Do You Play?”, “You Quiz on the Block,” and “Running Man,” while his highest-ranking related terms included “talk,” “trusted,” and “pay.” Yoo Jae Suk’s positivity-negativity analysis also revealed a score of 92.37 percent positive reactions.

Meanwhile, Jun Hyun Moo took second place for April with a brand reputation index of 2,589,182.

HaHa came in at a close third with a brand reputation index of 2,571,498, marking a 21.71 percent rise in his score since March.

Kim Jong Kook rose to fourth place with a brand reputation index of 2,493,088, marking a 0.24 percent increase in his score since last month.

Cha Eun Woo has shared a personal statement addressing the tax-related controversy involving him.

Previously, on January 22, it was reported that Cha Eun Woo had been investigated last year by the Investigation Bureau 4 of the Seoul Regional Tax Office on suspicion of tax evasion, and that the National Tax Service had issued an additional tax assessment exceeding 20 billion won (approximately $13.6 million).

On April 8, Cha Eun Woo took to his personal Instagram to apologize and confirm that he has fully paid the related taxes.

This is Cha Eun Woo.

I sincerely apologize to my fans and everyone else for the disappointment and confusion caused by the recent tax-related controversy involving me.

As various administrative procedures were underway, I had to be cautious in expressing my position, and I apologize once again for the delay in speaking out.

Although it is late, I would like to personally share my thoughts and position now.

I respect the procedures and findings of the National Tax Service, and to prevent any further confusion, I have fully paid the related taxes. I will also diligently comply with any remaining procedures.

Having received so much love and support, I am taking this matter very seriously and reflecting deeply. If there were aspects I failed to carefully review, the responsibility lies entirely with me. I will not avoid accountability by saying “I didn’t know” or that it was “someone else’s decision.”

During a period of various changes and uncertainties in my career, I established a corporation to help manage my activities more stably. However, looking back, there were areas I did not examine thoroughly enough, and I believe the responsibility lies not with my family or company, but with me.

Hello. This is WAKEONE.

First, we sincerely apologize for the delay in issuing our position to all fans who care for and support ALPHA DRIVE ONE.

Our company has a responsibility to support our artists so they can focus on their activities in a stable environment and to manage them so they can uphold the basic attitude and standards required as artists. However, we feel a heavy sense of responsibility for failing to sufficiently fulfill these duties.

We would like to clarify the facts regarding Kim Geonwoo’s remarks that have been raised online. The relevant incident occurred on set when filming content prior to debut. At the time, Kim Geonwoo expressed dissatisfaction using inappropriate language without realizing that his microphone was on. His remarks were not criticism or a personal attack directed at any specific individual but were spoken in the form of a muttered remark to himself. Nevertheless, they were inappropriate under any circumstances. We once again offer our deepest apologies to the staff on site who may have felt uncomfortable as a result. We are also truly sorry for causing concern to our fans.

Immediately after the incident, he conveyed his apology to the production team, and our company understood the matter to have been concluded through mutual communication. “Yumi’s Cells” tells the story of an ordinary office worker named Yumi (Kim Go Eun)—from the point of view of the many brain cells in her head controlling her every thought, feeling, and action. When Shin I Rang spotted a hair roller still stuck in the back of Han Na Hyun’s hair—something she hadn’t had time to remove during her hectic morning—he quietly took it out to spare her any embarrassment. However, Han Na Hyun misunderstood his action as a random prank of him tugging at her hair and reacted angrily, unable to hide her bewilderment as she asked, “What are you doing?”

At that moment, instead of explaining himself in detail, Shin I Rang simply said, “I was just happy to see you,” willingly choosing to be seen as someone who behaved rudely. By sacrificing his own image to protect Han Na Hyun’s perfection, this scene highlighted his extraordinary thoughtfulness.

Based on the web novel literally translated as “Children’s Day in Ninth Grade,” the drama follows the unlikely connection between He Chu San (He Chang Xi), a principled college student, and Xia Liu Yi (He Yan Zhao), a notorious gangster with a violent past. As their worlds collide under dangerous circumstances, the series unfolds a story that is as intense as it is emotionally compelling. Here are five reasons why you should check out this BL.

Interesting action-noir plotline

Even though “Sammy’s Children’s Day” is a BL (short for Boys’ Love), the drama defies expectations by delivering an intense, action-heavy noir storyline that, rather than overshadowing the romance, actually heightens it.

The story begins with a comedic setup: Xia Liu Yi, the right-hand man to one of the most powerful gang leaders in town, kidnaps He Chu San. Not because He Chu San owes him money, nor because he witnessed a crime, but for a surprisingly absurd reason. Xia Liu Yi is producing a movie for his boss and needs a scriptwriter. Naturally, he decides the best candidate is the only man in the city who got into college.

The only problem? He Chu San is a finance major who knows nothing about scriptwriting. Still, after witnessing Xia Liu Yi casually chop off another man’s fingers, he reluctantly agrees to help.

Soon after this comedic exposition, the story takes a sharp turn.

Xia Liu Yi’s boss, who is also his brother-in-law, and his sister are murdered. Xia Liu Yi becomes the prime suspect, turning most of his own gang against him. From this point on, the narrative shifts into a survival story, with Xia Liu Yi fighting to stay alive, while his relationship with He Chu San develops quietly in the background.

In a different story, such a heavy noir plot might overwhelm the romance and make it feel out of place. However, “Sammy’s Children’s Day” balances both elements seamlessly, with the tenderness between the two leads cutting through the story’s darker, grimmer moments.

Longer, fast-paced episodes

While BL as a genre has become increasingly mainstream in recent years, one persistent issue is runtime. Many BL dramas, particularly outside of Thai and Taiwanese productions, suffer from short episodes, with some Korean BLs running as little as 15 minutes per episode.

“Sammy’s Children’s Day” sits comfortably in the Goldilocks zone, with nine 45-minute episodes. Despite the longer runtime, the series maintains a brisk pace, making it highly bingeable. While the main plot moves quickly, with Xia Liu Yi constantly on the run, the romance between him and He Chu San unfolds gradually and tenderly. From the beginning, He Chu San is shown to be drawn to Xia Liu Yi, but even by the midpoint of the drama, neither fully understands nor acknowledges their feelings.

This slow build creates a strong sense of anticipation, making the eventual emotional payoff all the more satisfying.

Complex main and side characters

The central dynamic between a gangster and a college student may sound tropey at first glance and could easily be dismissed as a commercially driven choice. However, “Sammy’s Children’s Day” avoids this pitfall.

Despite having only nine episodes, both main characters are well-developed and feel fully realized, each with their own struggles, motivations, and quirks.

At its core, the story is about He Chu San, a diligent scholarship student, and his unexpected entanglement with Xia Liu Yi. However, the events that repeatedly bring them together are largely driven by the decisions of those around them. The supporting characters are equally fleshed out, with their own arcs and motivations, making the drama feel richer and more expansive than a simple love story.

Wong Kar Wai’s influence

“Sammy’s Children’s Day” carries a romantic, almost nostalgic melancholy that strongly recalls the work of Wong Kar Wai, particularly films like “Chungking Express.”

While the drama is far from a direct stylistic replica and its cinematography isn’t flawless, the influence is clear. Certain scenes, especially those set on the streets, feel chaotic yet vibrant, capturing a sense of urban isolation and emotional intensity.

Although the color grading could have been more refined, the series succeeds in delivering a moody, melancholic aesthetic that complements its themes.

On April 7, the production team behind KBS’s upcoming variety show “Happy Together—Glad I’m Not Alone” (literal translation) announced, “‘Happy Together’ is returning to viewers for the first time in six years with a new concept. Yoo Jae Suk, the longtime anchor of ‘Happy Together,’ will serve as the main MC, and the first broadcast is scheduled for July.”

“Happy Together” is a variety program that aired for a full 20 years—from 2001 to 2020—establishing itself as a brand in its own right. Combining witty talk with a wide range of variety-show elements and presenting multiple formats over the years, “Happy Together” received tremendous love for creating iconic segments such as “Backpack Talk,” “Tray Karaoke,” “Friends,” “Sauna Talk,” and “Late-Night Snack Bar.”

Returning after six years, the program is coming back this time as “Happy Together—Glad I’m Not Alone.” It is being billed as the first-ever storytelling music audition designed to prove “the reason to sing together.”

A campus romantic-comedy set in the late 1990s, “Green Light” follows the story of a man, who only knows baseball, as he enters law school in order to meet his first love. The drama will capture the heart-fluttering vibes of first love and youth.

Choi Hyun Wook has reportedly been offered the role of Han Tae Young, a first-year law student who was formerly one of the best high school baseball pitcher. On top of the mound, he is more passionate and confident than anyone else, but in front of love, he is a pure-hearted youth who only knows how to be straightforward. He is a figure who willingly turns his life around for his first love.

As a former baseball athlete himself, Choi Hyun Wook was a pitcher on the winning team of the 2017 National Junior High School Baseball Championship, but he quit baseball following an injury in the first year of high school.

Jung Chaeyeon will be reportedly taking on the role of second-year law student Song Ji Woo. Although she appears bright and firm, she harbors wounds and secrets that she can not easily tell anyone else. Through her reunion with Han Tae Young, she faces long-buried feelings once more, causing her time to start moving again.

The drama will be helmed by director Kim Moon Gyo of “Trolley” and “Connection” and written by writer Yeo Song Eun of “Good Good” Season 5.

BLACKPINK’s Jennie and Tame Impala are soaring to new heights on Billboard’s Hot 100 with their hit remix of “Dracula”!

On April 7 local time, Billboard revealed that Jennie and Tame Impala’s collab version of “Dracula” had risen to a new peak of No. 18 on the Hot 100, Billboard’s weekly ranking of the most popular songs in the United States.

The song is currently both Jennie’s and Tame Impala’s highest-ranking song to date on the Hot 100. Before “Dracula,” Jennie’s highest-ranking solo song on the chart was her The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp collab “One of the Girls” (which peaked at No. 51).

“Dracula” also jumped to a new peak of No. 4 on both Billboard’s Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. chart this week, in addition to rising to No. 12 on the Streaming Songs chart and debuting at No. 14 on the Digital Song Sales chart.

On Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart, which measures weekly plays on mainstream Top 40 radio stations across the United States, “Dracula” climbed to No. 25 this week.
