Based on a popular web novel and webtoon, “The Legend of Kitchen Soldier” is a military fantasy-comedy drama that tells the story of army cook Kang Sung Jae (Park Ji Hoon). When a mysterious quest window pops up in front of him one day, Private Kang Sung Jae begins an unexpected journey that will lead him down the path toward becoming a legendary cook.

After graduating from boot camp as the top trainee, Kang Sung Jae is assigned to the Gangrim Outpost, where he unexpectedly becomes the center of attention within the unit.

Kang Sung Jae enters boot camp with a strong sense of determination despite receiving his enlistment notice without warning. On May 11, PLEDIS Entertainment announced that Picheolin will release his first mini album “吉BOARD” on August 3. The album name reinterprets the 1990s Korean street culture term “gilboard” by combining the Chinese character “吉” meaning “good fortune” with the English word “BOARD” to convey Picheolin’s resolve to turn the streets into a stage that the entire nation can enjoy.

Picheolin is a character that first appeared in SEVENTEEN’s 2021 fan meeting VCR and has continued to receive much love from fans. He is also the energetic producer and head of agency BOMG.

MBC’s upcoming drama “Fifties Professionals” has unveiled new stills featuring its splendid supporting cast!

“Fifties Professionals” is an action-comedy about three seemingly ordinary but secretly dangerous middle-aged men who are brought back into action by destiny. The three men, who once reigned at the top of their respective fields, find themselves exiled to the remote island of Yeongseon after a mysterious incident. There, they begin a bittersweet and comedic quest to uncover the truth about the fateful day from 10 years ago that changed their lives.

The drama centers on the story of former National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent Jung Ho Myung (Shin Ha Kyun), North Korean operative Bong Jae Soon (Oh Jung Se), who lost his memory after an unexpected accident, and gangster Kang Beom Ryong (Heo Sung Tae), who is pursuing Jung Ho Myung. All three are now on Yeongseon Island following an operation that failed 10 years ago.

The newly released stills feature a strong supporting cast of talented veteran actors including Han Ji Eun, Kim Sang Ho, Hyun Bong Sik, Shin Dong Mi, Lee Soon Won, Lee Han Wi, Kim Byung Ok, and Jung Suk Yong. The relationships between characters intertwined within police, organized crime, family, and power structures are expected to deliver both tension and human warmth.

Han Ji Eun plays Park Mi Kyung, a patrol officer at the Yeongseon Police Substation. She is a character who feels skeptical about corruption within the organization but never lets go of her sense of justice.

Kim Sang Ho takes on the role of Jo Seong Won, a team leader in the NIS’s anti-communist investigation unit. Although he possesses an excellent sense of intuition and a strong sense of justice, he is framed due to internal betrayal and ends up on the run. He later tracks the truth while hiding his identity for a long time and engages in a strong partnership with Jung Ho Myung.

Hyun Bong Sik appears as Yoo In Gu, the head of the Ingu faction. In the past, during his time with the Hwasan faction, he was overshadowed by Kang Beom Ryong and failed to make a name for himself, but he eventually grew into a core figure of the organization by leveraging his social skills. However, he lives in constant anxiety, fearing revenge from the disappeared Kang Beom Ryong and Ma Gong Bok (Lee Hak Joo).

Shin Dong Mi plays Ho Myung’s wife Kwon Oh Ran, portraying a realistic story of a married couple. As the daughter of the long-standing Ohran Restaurant, she is a character who endures the weight of reality amidst childcare, the family business, and her lethargic husband. The indifferent affection and lived-in chemistry typical of a long-married couple are expected to add warmth to the drama.

Lee Soon Won plays Geum Gang Sik, the second-in-command of the Ingu faction. He is a character who has solidified his position in the organization by relying on power rather than ability; while he is Yoo In Gu’s right-hand man, he also harbors ambitions to take that position one day.

Lee Han Wi takes on the role of CEO Kwon, the owner of Ohran Restaurant, showcasing a realistic father character who acts as the anchor for his family.

Kim Byung Ok appears as Hwang Hwa San, the boss of the Hwasan faction. Once called a legend in the organized crime world, he fell from grace after being framed for murder following a failed NIS operation. He places his final hope on Kang Beom Ryong and Ma Gong Bok, adding tension to the story.

Jung Suk Yong plays Ri Cheol Jin, the person in charge of the People’s Armed Forces’ special forces, and will act as a key figure who shakes up the board amidst power and desire.

The production team stated, “The quality of the project has been further elevated by the performances of actors such as Han Ji Eun, Kim Sang Ho, Hyun Bong Sik, and Shin Dong Mi. EVAN (Heeseung), formerly of the group ENHYPEN, is returning as a solo artist next month!

On May 11, an official from EVAN’s agency BELIFT LAB stated, “EVAN is preparing new music aimed for a June release,” adding, “We will provide further details through a future announcement.”

EVAN originally debuted in 2020 as a member of ENHYPEN. He departed the group on March 10, 2026 and changed his stage name from Heeseung to EVAN.

Having already demonstrated his capabilities in songwriting, composing, and producing through tracks such as “Highway 1009” and “Dial Tragedy” during his time with the group, attention is focused on what kind of music he will present as a solo artist this coming June.

On May 10 local time, Billboard announced that BTS’s latest album “ARIRANG” had ranked No. 7 in its seventh consecutive week on the Top 200 Albums chart, which ranks the most popular albums in the United States.

“ARIRANG,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spent its first three weeks at the top of the chart, has now become the first album by a Korean artist ever to spend seven weeks in the top 10.

Both tvN’s “Filing for Love” and JTBC’s “We Are All Trying Here” are on the rise!

On May 10, “Filing for Love” wrapped up the first half of its run on its highest viewership ratings yet. According to Nielsen Korea, the sixth episode of the romantic comedy jumped to an average nationwide rating of 9.4 percent, nearly doubling its ratings from the night before.

Not only did “Filing for Love” take first place in its time slot across all channels, including public broadcast networks, but it was the most-watched show of any kind to air on cable on Sunday—and the second most-watched program overall.

“We Are All Trying Here” also achieved its highest ratings to date last night, when it rose to an average nationwide rating of 3.9 percent—marking the drama’s first time breaking out of the 2 percent range.

Finally, KBS 2TV’s “Recipe for Love” continued its reign as the most-watched show of Sunday with an average nationwide rating of 14.3 percent.

For the fourth consecutive week, MBC’s “Perfect Crown” remained No. 1 on Good Data Corporation’s weekly list of the dramas that generated the most buzz. The company determines each week’s rankings by collecting data from news articles, blog posts, online communities, videos, and social media about dramas that are either currently airing or set to air soon.

In addition to topping the list of the most buzzworthy dramas, “Perfect Crown” also held onto the top spots on the list of the most buzzworthy drama cast members, where leads IU and Byeon Woo Seok remained No. 1 and No. 2 respectively.

tvN’s “Yumi’s Cells 3” swept the next spots on both lists, maintaining its position at No. 2 on the drama list. Leading man Kim Jae Won held steady at No. 3 on the actor list, followed by star Kim Go Eun at No. 6.

In a newly released preview for next week’s episode of “Home Alone” (“I Live Alone”), Joy reveals that she has begun attending a pet grooming academy and is studying to obtain a certification.

Explaining why she began studying pet grooming, Joy says candidly, “If I wind up not being able to do this job [singing] in the future, I thought it would be good to have a skill set.”

After revealing that she’s been studying for two months now, Joy dives into trying to complete her first wig, but the task proves more difficult than she  expected. 

Joy then introduces her dog Haetnim before studying for her written exam, which is coming up in July.

Last week, CORTIS released their second EP “GREENGREEN” on May 4. By the end of the day, “GREENGREEN” had already sold over 1 million copies, smashing CORTIS’s previous first-week sales record of 436,367 (set by their debut EP “COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES”) within just its first day of sales alone.

Hanteo Chart has now reported that “GREENGREEN” went on to sell a total of 2,313,291 copies in the first week of its release (May 4 to 10), more than quintupling CORTIS’s previous record.

The behind-the-scenes look shares insight into the cast’s portrayal of the love triangle between Dam Ye Jin (Chae Won Bin), Matthew Lee (Ahn Hyo Seop), and Seo Eric (Kim Bum). The set is filled with laughter as Ahn Hyo Seop hilariously captures his character’s extreme jealousy.

While filming a scene where Ahn Hyo Seop and Kim Bum fight over the cup of water poured by Chae Won Bin, the actors and director suggest creative ideas to make the scene even funnier while rehearsing. The newly released making-of video begins with the actors experimenting with their portrayal, trying different enunciations to convey the gravity of the scene. IU and Byeon Woo Seok also film their hugging scenes multiple times until they perfect their movements smoothly.

Furthermore, despite Jo Jae Yoon’s chilling portrayal of his character, he shows a softer side with the cast, complimenting Gong Seung Yeon and telling IU that he is a fan and attended her concert.

After the scene where IU gets on her knees in tears, Chae Seo An shares, “I teared up slightly,” saying how she held her tears in for the sake of continuity. Lee Jae Won agrees, “My heart ached while watching through the monitor.” Chae Seo An adds that IU cried for all 10 takes.

“Perfect Crown” airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:40 p.m. KST.
