The royal wedding is coming true in “Perfect Crown”!

Set in an alternate universe where modern-day Korea is a constitutional monarchy, MBC’s “Perfect Crown” tells the love story of Seong Hui Ju (IU), a chaebol heiress who has everything but is only a commoner in status, and Grand Prince Ian (Byeon Woo Seok), a prince who has nothing despite being the son of the king.

Previously in “Perfect Crown,” Seong Hui Ju and Grand Prince Ian made their engagement official by securing the king’s approval during a surprise proposal at the royal ball.

The May 1 episode will showcase Seong Hui Ju and Ian’s royal wedding ceremony. In the stills released ahead of the episode, Hui Ju and Ian are shown in traditional wear, gazing at each other with looks that seem to contain more sincerity than the emotions of a contract marriage.

Meanwhile, Min Jeong Woo (Noh Sang Hyun) and Yoon Irang (Gong Seung Yeon), who expressed opposition to their marriage, wear stiff facial expressions, adding tension to the situation.

PLAVE has joined Soompi for an exclusive interview!

Having recently made a successful comeback with their fourth mini album ‘Caligo Pt.2,’ PLAVE sat down with Soompi to share insight into the new music, their creative process, the path they are taking as a virtual group, and more.

Why was “HMPH! (feat. SOLE)” chosen as the pre-release track and “Born Savage” as the title track for this album? How would you describe their different charms?

YEJUN: “HMPH! (feat. SOLE)” was actually considered as a title track candidate at one point. However, since the song has a clear easy-listening appeal, we felt it could reach a wider audience without feeling overwhelming. Because “Born Savage” is such a powerful and intense track, we decided it would be better to share “HMPH! (feat. SOLE)” as a pre-release track, as it carries a lighter, more exciting energy that fits well with the spring season.

EUNHO: The pre-release track “HMPH! (feat. SOLE)” and the title track “Born Savage” have completely opposite charms! “HMPH! (feat. SOLE)” is a song that feels perfect for a walk through a city filled with cherry blossoms. It’s also our first time featuring another artist on our song, and SOLE’s vocals really added a fresh and bright touch to the track. Musically, it felt like a great new attempt for us. On the other hand, “Born Savage” is a track that amplifies our raw and powerful rock energy. We wanted to capture a phoenix-like feeling, rising from the ashes and reigniting the flame. It’s the kind of song that’s great to listen to when you need motivation, whether you’re working out or pushing yourself through something.


What are some distinctions for the ‘Caligo’ duology in comparison to the ‘ASTERUM’ trilogy? What does Part 2 show that Part 1 didn’t? 


NOAH: If the ‘ASTERUM’ series portrayed a bright narrative of our birth and encounter, the ‘Caligo’ series deals with the confusion and fights we face when confronting an adversary. If ‘Caligo Pt.1’ represented the beginning of darker emotions and a sense of “Dash,” then ‘Caligo Pt.2’ can be seen as the stage of “explosion” to fully accept who we are now and move forward with confidence.


HAMIN: In the music video of “Born Savage” from ‘Caligo Pt.2,’ there are scenes where our outfits and weapons are upgraded. You’ll be able to see more intense and determined moments from PLAVE, such as powerful kicking action using my special weapon and coordinated group operations that highlight our teamwork, which are much more intense than ‘Caligo Pt.1.’

BAMBY: Performance-wise, ‘Caligo Pt.2’ has become much stronger and more powerful. We prepared striking concepts with eye-catching special effects and makeup for the performance. While our previous title track, “Dash,” carried a tense, heightened sensitivity before the full battle began, “Born Savage” clearly shows a more confident side of PLAVE taking the lead in the fight.

What is your favorite part of the creative process of making a new album? 


EUNHO: Honestly, the most exciting part is the early stage of developing a track, when we’re throwing around ideas among the producer members and shaping them together. On the other hand, the most challenging part for me is recording. Once I step into the recording booth, I feel this strong desire to push beyond what I already have. Especially for this title track, “Born Savage,” the concept itself calls for a rough, intense tone that I really strive for, so I remember raising my energy a lot in the booth, almost like trying to awaken the wolf inside me.

NOAH: For me, recording and the post-production process, such as mixing and mastering, are the most important. To be honest, it would be a lie to say it’s always enjoyable. It’s a meticulous, perfectionist process where we refine every detail of the sound and keep revising until we’re satisfied. It’s tough but also rewarding because you can really hear the difference in the final result!

HAMIN: I really enjoy the process of working on choreography with BAMBY, as we constantly revise and refine it to find the best possible version. Sometimes we get so full of ideas that we end up calling or messaging each other non-stop. Filming the music video is tough, but fun as well. I’m pretty confident when it comes to physical performance, so I often share ideas for the choreography incorporated in the action scenes. And when I watch the finished music video later, I sometimes find myself thinking, “Wow, I really look like an action hero!” and quietly admiring it by myself.

What is it like to meet international fans on tour? Are there any especially memorable moments from the “DASH: Quantum Leap” tour?

YEJUN: It’s hard to put into words what it feels like to meet PLLIs in different cities in person. Especially when they sing along to our songs, it sends chills through my whole body. It was a moment where I truly felt, firsthand, what it means to connect through music even without sharing the same language.

BAMBY: In addition, what made it special was how each city had its own unique energy from the fans. One moment that really stands out to me is when I was dancing on stage and PLLIs created waves with their light sticks.

What would you choose as PLAVE’s most memorable achievement so far?

NOAH: I think it would have to be the moment we won first place on a major music show for the first time. At the beginning, there were doubts from people who wondered, “Can a virtual idol group really make it?” But in the end, we proved ourselves through our skills. The achievements our PLLIs helped us build, one by one, have come together to make PLAVE what it is today. Oh, and recently, BAMBY passing the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) N2 is also a huge accomplishment for our team.


BAMBY: Personally, I think the “DASH: Quantum Leap” tour has been our biggest achievement. It still feels unreal that we were able to go beyond Asterum and meet fans from various regions around the world. And recently, as I’ve taken on a 5th-generation MC role, I’ve been reading more and studying famous quotes. I’d love to show the results of my studies soon as well!

EUNHO: Seeing our songs on the streaming platform charts made me incredibly happy and proud. Even now, every time we release a song or an album, it still feels surreal. Whenever I hear our songs playing in places like cafes, stores, or restaurants in Terra, I feel so proud of PLAVE and our PLLIs.

After three years, PLAVE has reached unprecedented success as a virtual idol group. What is PLAVE’s strength as a virtual group, and what are some limitations you have faced?

HAMIN: I think our biggest strength is communication. And something we can confidently call a strength is that every single one of PLAVE members has a strong interest in comedy. That’s probably why people enjoy our content so much. As for challenges, I think it’s the pressure of having to carve out a completely new path ourselves. But now, even that difficulty has become something we embrace and turn into part of our charm.


YEJUN: Our unity as a group is also one of our strengths. We understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses well, which allows us to bring out each other’s full potential. I think that’s why we were able to create an a cappella track like “Blossom Parade” from the latest album, using only our voices without any instrumental backing. It was made possible by our strong teamwork. On the other hand, a challenge would be the preconceptions people have. In the early days of our debut, it was hard not to be aware of them. But now, after three years, I think we’ve grown confident enough to face those perceptions directly, especially because we have PLLIs who support and love us.

What are the greatest strengths of the member sitting next to you?

HAMIN → NOAH: He naturally leads everyone in a calm and comfortable way. No matter what concerns I share, NOAH always listens and gives sincere advice. That’s why I sometimes feel like he’s a true adult.

NOAH → BAMBY: One of BAMBY’s biggest strengths is his flexible way of thinking. Sometimes he points out things I hadn’t even considered, and in those moments, it feels like a complicated problem suddenly unravels.


BAMBY→ YEJUN: YEJUN is like the ocean. You can feel how he embraces everything with a broad and open mind while continuing to move forward. Seeing that sense of responsibility makes him incredibly reassuring as a fellow member.


YEJUN → EUNHO: EUNHO gets along with everyone so effortlessly. He has such a positive and easygoing personality that just being around him lifts your energy and mood. Since most of our team tends to be more introverted, having someone as lively and sociable as EUNHO helps keep PLAVE’s energy up.

EUNHO → HAMIN: HAMIN’s greatest strengths are his incredible ability to absorb things and his natural sensibility. Not just in dance and physical performance, but also in vocals and music, his speed of learning new things is unmatched. I’m really looking forward to seeing what he’ll be like next year.

How would you describe what PLAVE is to you? 


YEJUN: To me, PLAVE is destiny. It’s the only path that allowed me to meet PLLIs, and it’s like a home where I pour all of my sincerity.


BAMBY: PLAVE is the source of energy that keeps me growing and moving forward. It makes me want to do better and move more people emotionally. Thanks to PLLIs who love and believe in PLAVE, my world keeps expanding. 


What is your ultimate goal or dream for PLAVE as a group?


NOAH: Our goal is to become an idol group without limits. Both technically and musically, we want to keep showing new sides of ourselves without being confined to any boundaries. And beyond language and cultural barriers, we want PLAVE’s music to resonate throughout Terra.


EUNHO: I want to see PLAVE’s songs charting in different regions around the world. There are still so many cities and venues we haven’t visited yet! We’ll keep working hard to connect with more audiences and create legendary stages that are uniquely ours.

HAMIN: As artists, I want us to firmly establish PLAVE’s own distinct color, and I think that ultimately ties back to our original intentions. As the other members said, there are still so many areas left for us to explore. I want to show more of PLAVE’s unique performances so that people look forward to what we’ll do next.

In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming episode, Grand Prince Ian pays a visit to the home of Seong Hui Ju’s father, Castle Group’s Seong Hyeon Guk (Jo Seung Yeon). Unable to hide the awkwardness she feels around her family, Seong Hui Ju’s expression has visibly hardened.

Ian, on the other hand, does his best to gain the trust of his future father-in-law. Despite looking slightly nervous, he wears a faint smile as he sits next to the older man.

As we reach the final leg of “Phantom Lawyer,” another case ends but a new one arrives. And this one might be the most complicated, both emotionally and professionally, for Shin I Rang (Yoo Yeon Seok). Though the drama has shown a steady pace and consistency in most of its run, in the latest episodes, some situations have brought more than a couple of conflicts, raising all kinds of feelings and shaking our hero and viewers to our core. Keep on reading to learn which ones they were!

Warning: spoilers from episodes 13-14 ahead. 

1. The boy’s ghost saying goodbye to his parents

Last week, we saw Shin I Rang running around to solve the case of a small boy’s ghost, with the situation escalating to the point of almost killing him. However, that false alarm only serves to rage-bait whoever sees it, because I Rang quite literally returns from the doors of heaven after a few seconds, almost as unaffected as if it had never happened. Afterwards, him and his team get back to business to discover the boy’s missing corpse, since the perpetrator refuses to reveal where it is. 

An emotional moment happens while the boy possesses I Rang’s body, pushing the criminal to give the corpse’s location and finally reveal the circumstances in which the boy died. But contrary to the other cases, this one feels somehow rushed or cut short. Despite having a sort of “happy” ending, the parents barely make an appearance at the end, only saying goodbye to their son for a couple of minutes. This minimizes the actual weight of their loss and only focuses on the perpetrator’s story. It makes you tear up a little, but aside from that, it doesn’t feel like it had the closure it deserved. 

2. Shin I Rang distancing himself from Han Na Hyun 

Afterwards, things don’t get all that better. After a near-death experience, anyone would assume that I Rang and Han Na Hyun (Esom) would take the step to finally confess their mutual feelings. But again, this part of the plot keeps getting unnecessarily dragged, preventing them from developing an actual romantic chemistry between them. Admittedly, this isn’t a romance show, so not having that much of it shouldn’t be a disappointment. But still, it feels like a waste of a good pairing to keep them in the game of pulling and pushing. 

Luckily, the characters’ personalities don’t give way to unnecessary misunderstandings. Na Hyun isn’t the insecure type, nor is I Rang a petty man, so ultimately they talk and reach an agreement. Their union might not be that of lovers just yet, but they remain good friends and colleagues. And this time, I Rang might need as much help as he can, because this new case is about to shatter his whole world. In a sense, their team is more important than any kind of romantic relationship that could potentially be born.  

3. Shin I Rang learning about his father’s past 

Upon learning that the boy ghost’s dad is related to the man who ultimately led to the death of I Rang’s dad, our hero has no choice but to face the past that he has been avoiding for so long. Despite suffering much of the scorn and resentment from society, it is only until this moment that he has the courage to learn the full story. Or at least, the story that has been known so far. And given I Rang’s naive nature, it doesn’t take much to shatter the image he’s had about his father. 

Furthermore, Yang Byeong Il (Choi Kwang Il) turns out to be even more vicious and crafty than anyone could have expected. The man goes as far as to risk his own health to prevent anyone from revealing the truth, manipulating and twisting the facts. Even his son, Yang Do Kyung (Kim Kyung Nam), starts to fear what could be behind his father’s extreme actions. But sadly, he successfully ignites the seed of doubt in I Rang’s heart. And he’s the only person who could reveal the truth by connecting with his father’s ghost. 

4. Shin I Rang reuniting with his father’s ghost 

One of the most anticipated moments from this drama arrives when his father, Shin Gi Jung (cameo by Choi Won Young), appears out of the blue in his office. But what could have been an emotional and tenderhearted reunion between father and son turns out to be a cold and awkward meet-up. I Rang not only refuses to help him, but also decides to send him off without even returning his memories, something highly out of character for him. 

One of the things that stands out more is the inner conflict in I Rang, who struggles to reconcile the loving and caring image that he has of his father with the corrupt and selfish version that Yang Byeong Il has created throughout the years. Fortunately, he decides to follow his heart and trust the man that always showed to be a good father to him. By returning his memories, he is prepared to face the truth once and for all. But what will be the ending to this story? Let’s find out together next week!

Get ready for the next installment in Mnet’s “PLANET” audition series!

On May 1 KST, Mnet officially announced that “GIRLS PLANET 2” was set to air in 2027. The network also announced, “Starting today, we are beginning the recruitment of participants from all over the world.”

“GIRLS PLANET 2” is the latest installment in the “PLANET” series that kicked off in 2021 with the audition show “Girls Planet 999,” which gave rise to the girl group Kep1er. It has since continued with “BOYS PLANET” and “BOYS II PLANET,” which formed the boy groups ZEROBASEONE and ALPHA DRIVE ONE respectively.

Online applications for “GIRLS PLANET 2” open on May 1 at 8.m. KST, but Mnet also plans to recruit contestants through in-person auditions at various locations across the globe, including KCON JAPAN 2026 and KCON LA 2026.

Any female born before January 1, 2013 is invited to apply, regardless of nationality, place of residence, experience level, or affiliation with an agency.

On April 30, SBS’s “Sold Out on You” saw a slight dip in viewership for its fourth episode. According to Nielsen Korea, the new romantic comedy fell to an average nationwide rating of 2.7 percent, marking an all-time low for the show.

Meanwhile, KBS 2TV’s “Cabbage Your Life” rose slightly to an average nationwide rating of 1.6 percent for its sixth episode.

SBS’s upcoming drama “My Royal Nemesis” has released a new teaser!

“My Royal Nemesis” is a romantic comedy starring Lim Ji Yeon as Shin Seo Ri, a struggling actress who is suddenly possessed by the spirit of a notorious villainess from the Joseon era. Heo Nam Jun will star as Cha Se Gye, a ruthless chaebol heir who is known as a “monster created by capitalism.”

The newly released teaser opens on a damaged painting from 300 years ago that depicts infamous Joseon villainess Kang Dan Shim (also played by Lim Ji Yeon) from her time in court. After glimpses of Kang Dan Shim together with a mysterious man, the flashback ends with her meeting a tragic end in the rain.

However, to her own surprise, Kang Dan Shim wakes up in the present day in the body of Shin Seo Ri. Breaking out into a smile in the pouring rain, she says to herself in amazement, “I’m alive. I survived.”

As she begins the second chapter of her life as Shin Seo Ri, two men enter the picture: Cha Se Gye and his distant cousin Choi Moon Do (Jang Seung Jo). Cha Se Gye takes her hand with a smile as he says, “I look forward to working with you, Shin Seo Ri,” while Choi Moon Do makes a cryptic offer by saying, “I’ll promise you a real future. A comfortable future.” Later, Cha Se Gye declares, “It turns out that I need you. Desperately.”

With a second chance at life having unexpectedly fallen into her lap, the intrepid Shin Seo Ri decides, “I’m going to carve out my own destiny.”

“My Royal Nemesis” will premiere on May 8 at 9:50 p.m. KST.

Um Tae Goo plays Sang Gu, TRIANGLE’s overly passionate rapper, whose enthusiasm far exceeds his talent.

Sang Gu once dreamed of becoming a true hip hop warrior, but in reality, he only ever had just a few lines in songs. After the group disbanded, even his ambitious solo album failed, leaving him buried in debt and barely getting by as an insurance salesman.

Um Tae Goo perfectly captures both the overly passionate side of Sang Gu and the sorrow of a “failed rapper” struggling to survive.

Um Tae Goo commented, “The character of Sang Gu was new to me in every way, and participating in this project was a challenge in itself.”

To prepare for the role, the actor entered “trainee mode” for five months, frequenting the JYP Entertainment headquarters. He received comprehensive hip hop training—including rap-making lessons, styling, and stage presence—from producer Kass, who has collaborated with groups like GOT7, Stray Kids, and NMIXX.

From his signature rapping style, which makes full use of his distinctive husky voice, to a wide range of expressions, poses, and choreography, Um Tae Goo perfectly embodied the uniquely comedic character of Sang Gu. Attention is focused on how Um Tae Goo, who is known for his overly shy and introverted personality, will portray this comedic and overly passionate character.

The upcoming film “HOPE” has unveiled new stills featuring its cast!

“HOPE” follows the story of Beom Seok (Hwang Jung Min), the head of the Hopo Port branch office located in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). After hearing news of a tiger sighting from local youths, the entire village is thrown into a state of emergency as they encounter an unbelievable reality. The film is helmed by director Na Hong Jin, who received rave reviews for masterpieces including “The Chaser,” “The Yellow Sea,” and “The Wailing.”

Hwang Jung Min plays police officer Beom Seok, head of the Hopo Port branch office. Zo In Sung plays Sung Ki, a young hunter tracking the creature that attacked the village. Jung Ho Yeon plays Sung Ae, a principled police officer.

Kang Dong Won stars as Hyun Woo, the group’s leader and a “dance machine” known for his signature windmills and headspin moves. Although TRIANGLE won first place on a music show just one year after their debut, following the group’s disbandment, Hyun Woo now drifts through the entertainment industry in obscurity. Kang Dong Won is expected to portray the character’s transformation in a multidimensional way, moving between his once-glorious past and his grueling present.

The newly released stills capture Hyun Woo sporting a variety of hairstyles, from dyed hair to curly hair.

According to the production team, Kang Dong Won underwent five months of intensive choreography training to synchronize with the character.

Choreographer Yang Wook, who was in charge of the film’s performances, explained, “Despite the significant amount he had to cover, from b-boying to hip hop and TRIANGLE’s choreography, he enhanced the realism through meticulous training over a long period. In particular, he executed high-difficulty moves such as headspins with stability, earning admiration from all the staff.”

Director Son Jae Gon, who helmed the film, expressed strong trust in Kang Dong Won, saying, “Every director has probably imagined making a project with Kang Dong Won at least once. Shin Ha Kyun plays Jung Ho Myung, a former National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent who has spent the past 10 years working as the head chef at a Chinese restaurant while hiding his past. After a failed critical operation years earlier, he went to Yeongseon Island to deal with the aftermath and has since lived a normal life, cooking and making deliveries. However, he eventually encounters the person who played a key role in ruining that operation 10 years ago, and his life begins to change.

The newly released stills show contrasting sides of Jung Ho Myung. Outside, he appears as a cold, sharp NIS black agent, while at home, he lives as a husband and father who ranks at the bottom of his family’s hierarchy.

On April 30, the production team released photos from the script reading, which brought together Park Eun Bin, Yang Se Jong, and Ong Seong Wu as well as director Lee Min Soo and writer Choi Jung Mi.

“Spooky in Love” is an investigative occult romance drama about a hotel heiress who can see ghosts and a passionate, empathetic prosecutor who team up in a chaotic partnership. It is a remake of the 2011 film “Spellbound.”

The session began with Park Eun Bin’s lighthearted comment: “I’ll do my best to help viewers spend a chilling summer amid the intense heat.” The actors then fully immersed themselves in their respective characters.

First, Park Eun Bin plays Cheon Yeo Ri, the heiress to the country’s top luxury hotel group. Although she appears glamorous and is extremely wealthy, she lives cut off from the world because she can see ghosts. Park Eun Bin conveyed the character’s emotions through sorrowful eyes and voice.

In the main poster, Eun Chae Ni (Park Eun Bin), Lee Un Jeong (Cha Eun Woo), Son Gyeong Hun (Choi Dae Hoon), and Kang Ro Bin (Im Seong Jae) are running as they leave behind the chaos of Haeseong City. Under the tagline, “Lovable misfits will save the world,” the city is shown in complete disorder, with cars flying through the air and buildings and signs collapsing.

Set in an alternate universe where modern-day Korea is a constitutional monarchy, “Perfect Crown” tells the love story of Seong Hui Ju (IU), a chaebol heiress who has everything but is only a commoner in status, and Grand Prince Ian (Byeon Woo Seok), a prince who has nothing despite being the son of the king.

Previously on “Perfect Crown,” Seong Hui Ju and Grand Prince Ian became officially engaged after a proposal at a royal court banquet and the king’s approval. Grand Prince Ian accepted Seong Hui Ju’s contract marriage proposal, which she made to secure social standing, and the two became a team working toward the same goal.

Both share similar childhood loneliness and emotional wounds. They comfort each other and gradually grow closer. In the epilogue, it is also revealed that Grand Prince Ian had been interested in Seong Hui Ju since their school days, adding intrigue to their deeper connection.

However, opposition to their marriage is also beginning to emerge. Prime Minister Min Jeong Woo (Noh Sang Hyun) reacts with mixed feelings to news of their marriage.
