Park Hee Soon and Jang Dong Yoon may star in the upcoming drama adaptation of “The Miracles of the Namiya General Store”!

On April 28, media outlets reported that Jang Dong Yoon and Park Hee Soon have joined the cast of the Korean remake of “The Miracles of the Namiya General Store.”

In response to the reports, Jang Dong Yoon’s agency BH Entertainment shared, “‘The Miracles of the Namiya General Store’ is one of the projects he received an offer for and is reviewing positively.” Park Hee Soon’s agency has yet to respond.

“The Miracles of the Namiya General Store,” which is one of author Higashino Keigo’s best-known novels, tells the story of three thieves who hide out in the Namiya General Store, a place where the past and present connect. While writing replies to letters asking for advice, they come face-to-face with the secret behind a miracle-like connection intertwined with their own lives.

Previously, it was reported that actors Lee Chae Min, Kim Hye Yoon, Moon Sang Min, Go Ah Sung, Yum Jung Ah, Park Se Wan, Ryu Seung Ryong, Kang You Seok, and Jung Chaeyeon have been offered roles in the drama, further heightening anticipation.

Park Ji Hoon has shared his thoughts on the upcoming drama “The Legend of Kitchen Soldier”!

Based on a popular web novel and webtoon, “The Legend of Kitchen Soldier” is a military fantasy-comedy drama that tells the story of army cook Kang Sung Jae (Park Ji Hoon). When a mysterious quest window pops up in front of him one day, Private Kang Sung Jae begins an unexpected journey that will lead him down the path toward becoming a legendary cook.

Park Ji Hoon, well-known as a “military enthusiast,” has been cast as Kang Sung Jae, a soldier assigned to the kitchen. He has heightened anticipation for the project by sharing behind-the-scenes stories, ranging from his reasons for choosing the role to his preparation process.

Park Ji Hoon said, “I had always wanted to try wearing a military uniform in a project, and I also wanted to take on a new challenge. I found it particularly interesting that the character Kang Sung Jae is someone who builds his own standing while adapting to an unfamiliar environment. Furthermore, the process of him earning trust within the unit and making friends through his amazing skills was very appealing to me.”

He added, “I even took cooking lessons before filming to convincingly portray the unique profession of a kitchen soldier. As I learned to cook one dish after another, my knife skills gradually improved,” further raising expectations for his performance.

As the character Kang Sung Jae is set to level up his cooking skills by completing quests, the role required a unique approach to acting. While rehearsing the waltz, IU tells Byeon Woo Seok the various tips she learned from their dance teacher, such as how to bow and get pulled in. The two struggle to hold in their laughter throughout practice.

When asked what they thought about their waltz chemistry, Byeon Woo Seok answers. “It’s practically perfect.” IU honestly answers, “I was a bit nervous yesterday—I felt a bit stiff. The newly released video showcases the film’s creative direction and the actors’ first impressions. Referencing his previous hit films, director Yeon Sang Ho explains, “While my previous projects focused on events unfolding within specific spaces, this time I wanted to focus on the zombies themselves.” Koo Kyo Hwan shares that he was intrigued by the concept of infected individuals being “updated,” while Shin Hyun Been adds that the unique mode of expression stood out to her.

The video also highlights what sets the film apart. Kim Shin Rok mentions the apocalyptic thrill created by focusing on infected beings that differ from traditional zombie tropes. “The Scarecrow” follows a detective investigating a series of murders who is forced into an unlikely partnership with a man he despises. Set between 1988 and 2019, the suspenseful story tracks two men bound by misfortune and an uneasy alliance of hatred as they chase the truth across 30 years.

Previously, Kang Tae Joo (Park Hae Soo) launched a full-scale investigation into the Gangseong serial murder case. From meeting survivor Park Ae Sook (Hwang Eun Ho) to a sting operation using a female police officer as bait, he carried out an around-the-clock effort.

However, Cha Si Young (Lee Hee Joon) diverted investigative manpower by sending detectives to handle riot control. Seo Ji Won (Kwak Sun Young), who was assigned to the sting operation, was knocked unconscious in a surprise attack by the real culprit. In addition, Kang Tae Joo became involved in an assault case with Jeon Kyung Ho (Kang Jung Woo), a fellow teacher of his younger sister Kang Soon Young (Seo Ji Hye) and a nephew of the county governor. As a result, Cha Si Young regained control of the investigation.

Amid the tense standoff between Kang Tae Joo and Cha Si Young, the investigation into the Gangseong serial murder case continues to intensify. “Salmokji: Whispering Water” is continuing its strong run at the box office!

According to the Korean Box Office Information System (KOBIS), “Salmokji: Whispering Water” surpassed 2 million moviegoers as of April 27.

This marks the second Korean movie of 2026 to reach the milestone following “The King’s Warden” as well as the best score for a Korean horror genre film post-pandemic as the first Korean horror film to surpass 2 million moviegoers in eight years following “Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum.”

To celebrate, the cast members of “Salmokji: Whispering Water” including Kim Hye Yoon, Lee Jong Won, Kim Jun Han, Kim Young Sung, Oh Dong Min, Yoon Jae Chan, and Jang Da A as well as director Lee Sang Min gathered together for a group photo, using rocks to symbolize 2 million.

“Salmokji: Whispering Water” tells the story of a production crew sent to a reservoir named Salmokji to reshoot road-view footage after an unidentified figure was spotted in their initial footage. There, they encounter a mysterious presence lurking in the deep, dark water.

Son Suk Ku, Ha Jung Woo, Ji Chang Wook, Hyun Bong Sik, and Seo Hyun Woo will star in Netflix’s new film “The Generals” (working title)!

Directed by Yoon Jong Bin of “Narco-Saints” and “Nine Puzzles,” “The Generals” tells the story of Roh Tae Woo, the second-in-command who stands beside absolute ruler Chun Doo Hwan, wearing the mask of an “ordinary person” while striving for greater power, along with the people around him.

Director Yoon Jong Bin, known for portraying people struggling to survive in worlds shaped by rigid hierarchies and class systems, will once again explore the raw faces of his characters and their survival strategies against the backdrop of modern Korean history in “The Generals.”

Son Suk Ku plays longtime second-in-command Roh Tae Woo. He is set to portray the complex and subtle inner life of Roh Tae Woo, who was long remembered only as the friend of absolute ruler Chun Doo Hwan and a perpetual No. 2, as he finally rises to the top position he has long sought.

Ha Jung Woo plays Chun Doo Hwan, the absolute power at the center of the military regime. Anticipation is building for the pairing of Son Suk Ku and Ha Jung Woo, who will depict a close friendship formed as classmates at the Korea Military Academy, along with the complex and subtle relationship between a No. 1 and a No. 2.

Ji Chang Wook will play Heo Hak Seong, a junior from the Korea Military Academy whom Roh Tae Woo sees as a thorn in his side, adding sharp tension to the story.

In addition, Hyun Bong Sik will play Jung Ho Joong, a classmate and friend of Roh Tae Woo and Chun Doo Hwan.

Seo Hyun Woo will play Park Cheol Woong, a public security prosecutor at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office and an aide to Roh Tae Woo.
