BTS's Jungkook Becomes 1st K-Pop Soloist To Hit 200 Million Views With 3 MVs From Same Album
BTS’s Jungkook has achieved an impressive new feat on YouTube! According to BIGHIT MUSIC, on August 24 at 2:24 a.m. KST, Jungkook’s music video for his 2023 solo hit “Standing Next to You” surpassed 200 million views on YouTube. With this latest achievement, all three of Jungkook’s music videos from his solo debut album “GOLDEN”—“Seven” (featuring Latto), “3D” (featuring Jack Harlow), and “Standing Next to You”—have now reached 200 million views, making him the first K-pop soloist ever to hit the 200 million mark with three official music videos from the same album. Jungkook originally released the music video for “Standing Next to You” on November 3, 2023 at 1 p.m. KST, meaning that it took just over one year, nine months, and 20 days to reach the milestone. HUNTR/X's "Golden" Becomes 1st K-Pop Song To Top UK's Official Singles Chart For 3 Weeks
HUNTR/X’s “Golden” continues its record-breaking streak at No. 1 in the United Kingdom! For the week of August 21 to 27, “Golden”—the smash hit by the fictional girl group HUNTR/X from the film “KPop Demon Hunters” (sung by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami)—remained No. 1 on the Official Singles Chart (widely regarded as the U.K. equivalent to Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in the United States) for the second week in a row. “Golden” has now spent a total of three non-consecutive weeks at the top of the chart, extending its own record as the K-pop song with the most weeks at No. 1. Meanwhile, several other songs from the soundtrack of “KPop Demon Hunters” rose to new peaks on the Official Singles Chart this week. Saja Boys’ “Soda Pop” (sung by Andrew Choi, Neckwav, Danny Chung, U-KISS’s Kevin Woo, and samUIL Lee) reached a new all-time high of No. 3, while Saja Boys’ “Your Idol” climbed to No. 6 and TWICE’s Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung’s version of “Takedown” jumped to No. 31. Finally, TWICE’s 2024 hit “Strategy” (which was released last December but is included on the “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack) leaped to a new peak of No. 35. Just one day into their comeback, Stray Kids’ new album is already a “double-million seller”! On August 22 at 1 p.m. KST, Stray Kids made their highly-anticipated return with their fourth studio album “KARMA” and its accompanying title track “CEREMONY.” According to Hanteo Chart, “CEREMONY” sold an impressive total of 2,080,072 copies on its first day of sales alone, making it Stray Kids’ second album (after their 2023 album “★★★★★ [5-STAR]”) to surpass 2 million sales on the first day of its release. “KARMA” is also Stray Kids’ fifth album to sell over 2 million copies in its first week, following “MAXIDENT,” “★★★★★ (5-STAR),” “ROCK-STAR,” and “ATE.” Congratulations to Stray Kids!
August Singer Brand Reputation Rankings Announced
The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for singers! The rankings were determined through an analysis of singers’ media coverage, consumer participation, interaction, and community awareness indexes, using big data collected from July 23 to August 23. BTS rose to the top of this month’s list after seeing a 25.31 percent increase in their brand reputation index, bringing their total score to 9,535,953 for August. Lim Young Woong climbed to second place with a brand reputation index of 7,311,589, marking a 25.97 percent rise in their score since July. BLACKPINK took third place for the month with a brand reputation index of 6,822,422, while PSY ranked fourth with a score of 2,806,940. Finally, IVE came in at a close fifth with a brand reputation index of 2,786,683 for August. Check out the top 30 for this month below! Mark your calendars for Red Velvet’s Wendy’s first solo world tour! On August 22 at midnight KST, Wendy officially announced the dates and cities for her upcoming world tour “W:EALIVE.” After kicking things off with two nights of concerts in Seoul on September 20 and 21, Wendy will perform in Taipei on October 3, Hong Kong on October 5, and Tokyo on October 22 and 23.
