Go Hyun Jung Breaks Down Her Role And Transformation For “Queen Mantis”
Go Hyun Jung shared her thoughts on her upcoming drama “Queen Mantis”! A remake of the French series “La Mante,” “Queen Mantis” is a crime thriller starring Go Hyun Jung as Jung Yi Shin, a famous serial killer nicknamed “The Mantis” who brutally murdered five men 20 years ago and has been imprisoned ever since. When a new serial killer emerges, copying The Mantis’s distinctive style, the police approach Jung Yi Shin for her assistance in solving the case. Talking about her character, Go Hyun Jung explained, “Jung Yi Shin is a serial killer who brutally murdered five men in the past, which earned her the nickname ‘Queen Mantis.’ But at the same time, she is also a mother to a child. I think she’s a character who can’t be defined in just one word. At times, she exudes such a chilling aura that you immediately understand why she’s called ‘Queen Mantis,’ yet at other times, she has this empty gaze and expression that makes her seem detached from the world.” She continued, “The moment you think, ‘Ah, so this is who Jung Yi Shin is,’ she reveals an unexpected side that shatters that impression. That’s why even while acting, I constantly kept in mind Jung Yi Shin’s unpredictable and mysterious nature, and I tried to use that to create tension.” Go Hyun Jung added, “In order to maximize the appeal of this intense crime thriller, one of the key points was to make viewers curious about the character Jung Yi Shin. Rather than directly showing her emotions or true feelings through her eyes and expressions, I wanted to highlight the subtle details unique to her, so that viewers would fall deeper into doubt and suspicion. To achieve this, I had many in-depth conversations with director Byun Young Joo on set.” Regarding her physical appearance for the role, she shared, “To emphasize the character’s dry, lifeless aura, I minimized external adornments such as hair and clothing. Since she is a death row inmate who has been imprisoned for a long time, I thought it would be good to also show the passage of time—like age spots and wrinkles, so I added those details through makeup.” “Queen Mantis” premieres on September 5 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
Uhm Jung Hwa Reunites With Old Friend And Top Makeup Artist Cha Chung Hwa For Her Comeback In “My Troublesome Star”
Uhm Jung Hwa is gearing up for her comeback in tonight’s episode of “My Troublesome Star”! “My Troublesome Star” is a romantic comedy about Korea’s biggest star Im Se Ra (Jang Da A), who mysteriously vanishes and wakes up one day as Bong Cheong Ja (Uhm Jung Hwa), an ordinary middle-aged woman. Song Seung Heon stars as Dokgo Chul, a former detective who helps Bong Cheong Ja as she struggles to navigate life after losing 25 years in the blink of an eye. Spoilers In the previous episode, Bong Cheong Ja reached a turning point. Seeing Go Hee Young (Lee El) win the Cannes Best Actress award reminded her of a long-lost dream, prompting her to resolve to reclaim both her passion and her place in the spotlight. Meanwhile, her relationship with Dokgo Chul, who repeatedly comes to her rescue in times of crisis, began showing subtle sparks of romance. The episode ended with a heartfelt moment as Dokgo Chul seemed to realize Bong Cheong Ja’s true identity as Im Se Ra. The newly released stills capture Bong Cheong Ja’s comeback show and her highly anticipated reunion with former colleague Min Tae Sook (Cha Chung Hwa). In an earlier teaser, Min Tae Sook appeared cold toward Bong Cheong Ja’s arrival, but the new stills show her embracing Bong Cheong Ja with visible emotion, hinting at a touching and intriguing reunion. As Bong Cheong Ja’s loyal supporter, Min Tae Sook’s role is particularly exciting—having shared Bong Cheong Ja’s glamorous past, she knows her charms better than anyone. How will the top makeup artist transform Bong Cheong Ja for her comeback? The stills also capture the reunion between Bong Cheong Ja and current top star Go Hee Young. What was once a natural position for Im Se Ra now represents the dream stage for Bong Cheong Ja. As she soaks in the atmosphere with overwhelming emotion, Go Hee Young’s sharp gaze suggests that her comeback show will not be easy. Given Go Hee Young’s previously sharp reactions to the mere mention of “Im Se Ra,” viewers are already excited to see if she will recognize Bong Cheong Ja and how their reversed dynamic will play out. Yum Jung Ah Follows Park Hae Joon And Oh Na Ra Back To Their Alma Mater In “Love, Take Two”
“Love, Take Two” has shared new stills ahead of tonight’s episode! “Love, Take Two” is a heartwarming comedy drama about 43-year-old single mother Lee Ji An (Yum Jung Ah) and her 23-year-old daughter Lee Hyo Ri (Choi Yoon Ji). The pair moves to the countryside to start a new chapter in their lives, encountering various people and chaotic situations that teach them profound lessons about life. Spoilers In the previous episode, Lee Ji An and Lee Yeo Jeong (Oh Na Ra) clashed in a subtle battle of nerves over Ryu Jeong Seok (Park Hae Joon). Yeo Jeong’s jealousy and competitiveness showed through her dismissive, almost rude behavior toward Ji An—whether at the restaurant opening she suddenly showed up to, or at the construction site. Meanwhile, after witnessing an accident involving Jung Moon Hee (Kim Mi Kyung), Ji An was reminded of painful memories about her late mother. Though she tried to hide her fear and sadness, she secretly wept alone. Watching from a distance, Jeong Seok was reminded of his past self, who had once failed to approach her. But this time, Jeong Seok was different—he embraced Ji An warmly, telling her, “You don’t have to hold it in. It’s okay to cry,” offering comfort that was both moving and heart-fluttering. Now, the tangled triangle between Ji An, Jeong Seok, and Yeo Jeong continues beyond Cheonghae. The three are spotted together on a university campus. While Jeong Seok and Yeo Jeong naturally walk side by side, Ji An—unfamiliar with the surroundings—keeps a step behind them. As it turns out, this is the alma mater where Jeong Seok and Yeo Jeong first met in their twenties. How did the three end up here together? The production team shared, “In tonight’s episode, the hidden past of Ryu Jeong Seok will finally be revealed. Through this, Lee Ji An will also experience a subtle change in her emotions.” The next episode of “Love, Take Two” airs on August 26 at 8:50 p.m. KST.
