BTS, IZ*ONE, TWICE's MISAMO, And aespa's Karina Earn RIAJ Platinum And Gold Certifications For Streaming In Japan
The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has announced its latest batch of official certifications! In 2020, the RIAJ implemented a new certification system for online streaming of songs, as an addition to its pre-existing certification systems for physical album shipments and digital download sales. According to the new system, songs are certified silver once they reach 30 million streams, gold at 50 million streams, and platinum at 100 million streams. This month, BTS’s 2022 title track “Yet To Come,” IZ*ONE’s 2020 hit “Panorama,” and TWICE’s MISAMO’s 2024 song “NEW LOOK” were all certified platinum for surpassing 100 million streams each in Japan. Meanwhile, BTS’s 2018 B-side “Love Maze” and aespa’s Karina’s solo song “UP” were both certified gold after surpassing 50 million streams each in Japan. Congratulations to all of the artists!
February Individual Rookie Idol Brand Reputation Rankings Announced
The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for individual rookie idols! The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community awareness indexes of various rookie idols, using big data collected from January 5 to February 5. ILLIT’s Wonhee held onto her spot at the top of the list this month with a brand reputation index of 523,296, marking a 43.04 percent increase in her score since January. High-ranking phrases in her keyword analysis included “three-stage high note,” “20 years old,” and “NOT CUTE ANYMORE,” while her highest-ranking related terms included “charming,” “pretty,” and “cute.” Wonhee’s positivity-negativity analysis also revealed a score of 87.05 percent positive reactions. TWS’s Jihoon shot to second place with a brand reputation index of 394,587, while CORTIS’s Keonho came in at a close third with a score of 388,667. ILLIT’s Minju took fourth place for February with a brand reputation index of 245,963, and TWS’s Dohoon rounded out the top five with a score of 216,643. On February 10, Hanteo Chart announced that “GOLDEN HOUR : Part.4” had already sold over 1 million copies, making it ATEEZ’s fifth album to reach the milestone within the first week of its release. Hwang Minhyun To Release New Song "Truth"
Hwang Minhyun is making his return as a singer after being discharged from the military! On February 11 at midnight KST, PLEDIS Entertainment announced that Hwang Minhyun’s new song “Truth” would be released online at 6 p.m. KST later that day. Notably, the song marks Hwang Minhyun’s first new release since completing his military service in December. Hwang Minhyun first performed “Truth” in a surprise premiere at his fan meeting in Seoul this past weekend. Nana will appear in T.O.P’s new solo track music video! On February 9, a media outlet reported that Nana will star in T.O.P’s upcoming music video. In response to the report, both T.O.P’s and Nana’s agencies confirmed, “It is true that Nana will appear in the music video for T.O.P’s solo track.” Nana and T.O.P completed filming for the music video last year. The project marks the first time the two have worked together, drawing attention to their chemistry on screen. Earlier, on January 1, T.O.P posted a video on Instagram with the message, “A NEW ALBUM IS ON THE WAY.” He also added the phrase “ANOTHER DIMENSION,” hinting at the title of the upcoming album.
