Ma Dong Seok Embodies Fierce Tiger Energy As Leader Of The Angels In "Twelve"
The upcoming action drama “Twelve” has unveiled a new character poster and stills of Ma Dong Seok! Inspired by the 12 zodiac animals of the East, “Twelve” tells the story of 12 angels living in the human world in human form to protect the Korean Peninsula from evil spirits. Long ago, the angels barely managed to seal the forces of evil in the gates of hell through their sacrifice, bringing peace. However, with the evil spirits awakening, chaos returns. Ma Dong Seok, who plays Tae San, the leader of the 12 angels, said, “I’ve long wanted to try creating a superhero story with an Asian touch.” An angel with the power of the tiger, Tae San lives quietly in the human world, carrying the pain of losing comrades who were like family in a long-ago battle against evil forces. Beneath his strong exterior, he harbors a deep sense of loss and responsibility. While portraying Tae San, the leader of powerful angels, Ma Dong Seok also captured his inner struggle of being caught between his deep wounds and his drive to protect the human world. To amplify Tae San’s commanding presence and identity, Ma Dong Seok personally proposed and brought to life a range of ideas, from the character’s stride and tiger-print costumes to his weighty yet agile punches reminiscent of a tiger’s front paws. To convey Tae San’s superhuman strength convincingly in action scenes, Ma Dong Seok focused on creating realistic, impactful movements. Flames added to his punches will deliver an even more satisfying and thrilling visual impact. Building anticipation for the leadership and chemistry he will showcase in the drama, Ma Dong Seok said, “I focus on respecting each angel’s individuality and abilities, along with drawing out their hidden potential as we fight together.” The newly released character poster highlights Tae San’s identity and commanding aura, showing his resolve to stand firm against a massive threat of evil. In the poster, Ma Dong Seok adopts a battle stance in front of a tiger-printed character for tiger, creating a striking image of unmatched power. “Twelve” will premiere on August 23.
Lim Yoona Dishes On Her Upcoming Drama "Bon Appétit, Your Majesty"
Girls’ Generation’s Lim Yoona has shared her thoughts on her upcoming drama “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty”! Based on a popular web novel, “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” is a fantasy romance drama starring Lim Yoona as Yeon Ji Young, an award-winning French chef who winds up traveling 500 years back into the past. There, she meets despotic king Lee Heon (Lee Chae Min), who is known as the worst of tyrants—and who also happens to be a discerning gourmet. Lim Yoona shared, “I’d always wanted to work with director Jang Tae Yoo, and I’m truly happy to be working with him for the first time through ‘Bon Appétit, Your Majesty.’” Regarding why she chose to star in the drama, Lim Yoona explained, “I was drawn to the theme of cooking and found the character of Yeon Ji Young, who works as a chef, very appealing, so I wanted to take on the challenge [of playing her].” As for her character’s biggest charms, she picked “charisma, wisdom, and confidence,” explaining, “Yeon Ji Young always speaks her mind clearly and chooses her own path instead of being led by others. Her wise, confident, and charismatic nature left a strong impression on me.” On how she prepared for the character of Yeon Ji Young, Lim Yoona shared, “For about three months, I met with actual chefs and learned everything from handling cooking tools to the entire cooking process in detail. I also practiced cooking in various ways to prepare for the role.” She continued, “I learned a new skill called flambé [a French cooking technique where alcohol is added to a dish or sauce and quickly burned off over high heat], and I think it was the technique I showcased the most [in the drama]. Thanks to that, I became more confident in cooking, and while playing Yeon Ji Young, I found myself thinking, ‘I can’t believe I can do something like this.’ It was my most impressive performance.” Lim Yoona also revealed that she added subtle details to her styling and speech to highlight the character’s time-slip from the modern day to the past. She explained, “To clearly show the contrast between the present day and the past, I made sure to wear modern accessories like sunglasses, scarves, and earrings. I also kept Yeon Ji Young’s speech and tone confident, cheerful, and modern.” Encouraging viewers to tune in to the drama, Lim Yoona remarked, “If you pay close attention to the beautifully shot cooking scenes and the emotions between the characters, I think you’ll be able to enjoy the drama even more. Please look forward to ‘Bon Appétit, Your Majesty.’” “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” will premiere on August 23 at 9:10 p.m. KST.
