Yoo Yeon Seok, Esom, And More Kick Off Script Reading For New Fantasy Legal Drama “Phantom Lawyer”

Yoo Yeon Seok, Esom, And More Kick Off Script Reading For New Fantasy Legal Drama “Phantom Lawyer”

SBS’s upcoming Friday–Saturday drama “Phantom Lawyer” has shared a glimpse of its first script reading session! “Phantom Lawyer” is a quirky yet heartwarming legal drama that follows Shin Yi Rang (Yoo Yeon Seok), a lawyer who can see ghosts, and elite attorney Han Na Hyun (Esom) as they resolve the lingering grievances of their very unusual clients—ghosts—through the law. The script reading brought together director Shin Joong Hoon, writers Kim Ga Young and Kang Chul Gyu, and the main cast including Yoo Yeon Seok, Esom, Kim Kyung Nam, Jeon Seok Ho, Kim Mi Kyung, Son Yeo Eun, Lee Ah Rin, Jung Seung Gil, and Heo Sung Tae. Yoo Yeon Seok, who plays Shin Yi Rang—the lawyer who delivers satisfying justice by resolving the deep-seated grudges of the deceased—led the room with his fluid and versatile acting. From portraying a warm-hearted man who cannot ignore an elderly street vendor selling vegetables to delicately capturing the confusion and emotional turmoil that unfolds when he suddenly begins seeing ghosts, Yoo Yeon Seok showcased a wide emotional range. Notably making his first full-fledged attempt at comedic acting since his debut, he drew laughter throughout the room with his ever-changing speech patterns, facial expressions, and bold reactions whenever he portrayed possession scenes. Esom, who plays Han Na Hyun—the ace attorney of Taebaek Law Firm boasting a 100 percent win rate—instantly dominated the atmosphere with her cold and sharp charisma. She convincingly portrayed a character who feels alive only through winning cases, capturing her relentless drive and fierce ambition through intense eyes and a restrained tone. Kim Kyung Nam, who plays Yang Do Kyung—the representative of Taebaek Law Firm and Shin Yi Rang’s rival—delivered a compelling portrayal of precarious ambition and razor-sharp energy. As a character who has led the firm in the absence of his father, its true owner, he persuasively depicted a man fiercely striving to earn recognition and trust. The supporting characters, including the dependable “Yi Rang Family,” also add warmth to the story. Jeon Seok Ho, who plays Yi Rang’s brother-in-law Yoon Bong Soo, energized the atmosphere with his lively performance and boundless affection for his family. Yoon Bong Soo is a hard-working aspiring actor who works as a staff member at the “Doo Geun Doo Geun Butcher Restaurant,” boasting an eclectic resume filled with various part-time jobs undertaken in pursuit of realistic acting. After becoming the office manager at Shin Yi Rang’s law firm, his everyday survival knowledge shines unexpectedly. Kim Mi Kyung, who plays Yi Rang’s mother Park Kyung Hwa, firmly anchors the story with her commanding presence as the knife-wielding owner of the “Doo Geun Doo Geun Butcher Shop.” Though she raised Yi Rang while cutting meat at the shop, her tough exterior contrasts with her deeply warm and caring nature. Joining her are Son Yeo Eun as Yi Rang’s older sister Shin Sa Rang and Lee A Rin as Sa Rang’s daughter Yoon Da Bong, completing the cheerful and heartwarming family chemistry of the “Yi Rang Family.” Jung Seung Gil, who plays Father Matteo—a mysterious priest and another key pillar of Shin Yi Rang Law Office—adds a gentle warmth to the drama with his spring-like kindness and positive energy. He is set to offer meaningful advice to Shin Yi Rang at crucial moments. Moreover, other renowned actors, such as Heo Sung Tae, are also set to make special appearances in the drama as Shin Yi Rang’s special ghost clients. “Phantom Lawyer” is set to premiere on March 13 at 9:50 p.m. KST.

Lee Mi Sook And Kang Suk Woo Reflect On Their 40-Year Reunion And Mature Romance In “In Your Radiant Season”

Lee Mi Sook And Kang Suk Woo Reflect On Their 40-Year Reunion And Mature Romance In “In Your Radiant Season”

Lee Mi Sook and Kang Suk Woo have shared more insight into their upcoming drama “In Your Radiant Season”! “In Your Radiant Season” tells the story of Sunwoo Chan (Chae Jong Hyeop), a man who lives each day like an exciting summer vacation, and Song Ha Ran (Lee Sung Kyung), a woman who has locked herself away as if life were a cold winter. Lee Mi Sook plays Kim Na Na, a first-generation fashion designer representing Korea and the head of “Nana Atelier.” A perfectionist with firm principles, Kim Na Na commands attention wherever she goes. As a sharp and decisive leader who has also raised her three granddaughters, she reaches a turning point in life when she unexpectedly reunites with her long-buried first love. Kang Suk Woo plays Park Man Jae, a barista who runs a quiet alley café called “Rest.” After retiring, Man Jae lives a slow, peaceful life, listening to people’s stories and offering comfort through his presence. Through regular customer Song Ha Ran, he reconnects with his longtime acquaintance Kim Na Na and begins a second spring in life. Lee Mi Sook explained her reason for choosing the project, saying, “I was drawn to its rare, analog-style sensibility, which is hard to find these days. Rather than a fast-paced story, the narrative quietly follows people’s emotions and the passage of time, and that depth really resonated with me.” She added, “Kim Na Na is a character who embodies the time and life of a woman who has lived diligently, which naturally drew me in as an actress.” Kang Seok Woo also expressed his affection for the project, sharing, “From my very first meeting with the production team, I felt that director Jung Sang Hee had thoroughly prepared for the project, which naturally earned my trust. The moment I read the script, I could almost smell coffee from the character, and I was confident that I could properly convey the unique emotional tone of the drama.” Both actors named “relatability” as a key point to watch in the drama. Lee Mi Sook shared, “It holds great meaning as a drama that families can watch together. It’s a project where each generation will find something they can relate to.” Kang Seok Woo similarly said, “Not only younger viewers but also middle-aged and older audiences will be able to reflect on their own love and lives through this story. I believe it will offer both vicarious satisfaction and warm comfort.” Notably, Lee Mi Sook and Kang Seok Woo are reuniting on screen for the first time in over 40 years since the film “Wanderer in Winter.” Lee Mi Sook remarked, “I was truly happy to reunite with him, and we shared a chemistry that didn’t require words. On set, I felt that an actor’s passion only deepens with time.” Kang Seok Woo added, “This is our first time meeting again as co-leads since the 1986 film ‘Wanderer in Winter,’ and I felt very excited. Rather than the innocent love of youth, I think we will be able to portray the deep love of people who have lived full lives.” Lastly, Lee Mi Sook said, “It has been a while since I encountered a drama that can resonate with viewers of all ages. I hope audiences will watch it comfortably with their families or while reflecting on their own lives.” Kang Seok Woo added, “For viewers who remember ‘Wanderer in Winter,’ I hope this becomes a warm moment to reminisce about the past and reflect on their own life journeys,” asking for viewers’ interest and support. “In Your Radiant Season” is set to premiere on February 20 at 9:50 p.m. KST.

As misunderstandings are resolved and old wounds begin to heal, the two households gradually come together and are reborn as one family. 4 Reasons To Watch Modern Romance C-Drama “Love Between Lines”

Some C-dramas don’t need epic battles, tons of fantasy, or overly dramatic moments to become unique and memorable. Sometimes, they only need a solid plot, relatable characters, and a tiny touch of CGI to be great shows. In “Love Between Lines,” you’ll find all of this and more, proving that even in times when technology and modernity seem to be running faster than ever and the hustle and bustle of the everyday swamp us, romance can still find its way into our lives. Here are some simple reasons why you should definitely watch this C-drama!  Warning: spoilers ahead!  1. The unique virtual setting  Who needs magic or even a time machine when you have virtual reality glasses and a one-of-a-kind location where the most serendipitous encounters can occur? After being stood up on the day of her engagement party, Hu Xiu (Lu Yu Xiao) accepts an invitation from her best friend to attend a unique murder-mystery game in hopes of cheering her up. There, she unexpectedly ends up becoming a spy in Republican China, but before even finishing her mission, she gets killed by military commander Qin Xiao Yi (Chen Xing Xu), the most cunning and handsome NPC in the game. Quickly, Hu Xiu gets enthralled by the aura of this place and by the charming presence of Qin Xiao Yi.  But this setting isn’t only for role play. In this virtual reality, the story develops, and the main couple grows closer. Hu Xiu might feel a little like a wallflower in her daily life, but inside the game, she can show her wits as a clever spy who can even outsmart sharp commander Qin Xiao Yi, who will inevitably get mesmerized by this young woman. While the show continues mainly in a modern setting, the clever integration of these antique scenarios gives the story a unique touch and dynamism that is fresh and fun to watch, getting you hooked right from the start. Although this isn’t the first time shows create alternative identities for some of their characters—for example, when they appear in video games—here, they immerse themselves in the fantasy, making every meeting all the more heart-fluttering. Besides, both the male and female leads look stunning in vintage costumes, giving you a treat for the eyes.  2. The resilient and strong female lead  Hu Xiu is the type of strong, determined, and resilient female lead that everybody loves to watch. Despite her plans for a stable life being shattered by her ex-fiancé, she doesn’t wallow in her misery. She isn’t afraid to quit her job and start anew, pursuing her once-lost dream of becoming an architecture designer. After leaving it behind due to her family circumstances, this moment of crisis seems like the perfect time for her to regain control of her life. But the road isn’t exactly a flowery path for her. She has to overcome prejudice, struggles, and even her own insecurities before finding a position in Dynamism, the architecture firm of her dreams.  At Dynamism, she not only finds a place to hone her skills as a designer, but also gains a brand new confidence. Slowly but surely, Hu Xui learns to stand up for herself in front of her family and co-workers, without ever losing her kind and a bit sassy personality. Her fierce determination and sheer passion for architecture are enough to push her to go an extra mile in her job, granting her well-deserved admiration. She is what anyone would call a sharp blade in a velvet case, in the best sense. And as she further grows as a professional and as a person, she can also open up to love again when she meets Qin Xiao Yi.  3. A mysterious and charismatic male lead  Qin Xiao Yi, whose real name is Xiao Zhi Yu, is what any perfect hero needs to be: handsome, skilled, and slightly mysterious. Whether it is inside the mystery-murder game as a military commander or in real life as a promising architect, his charismatic presence draws everybody’s eyes. However, behind his nonchalant demeanor and straightforward personality lies a painful secret from his past. And time doesn’t always erase the wounds from the heart. Unable to move on after losing his father and being separated from his mother at a young age, he seems to be desperately looking for the answer that could help him shed some light on the devastating accident that destroyed his family.  When Zhi Yu meets Hu Xiu, he starts to long again for the home he once had, which he lost as a child. Inadvertently, the more he knows about her, the more inspired he finds himself by her passionate, honest, and sensible spirit. But just as she is fighting for her dreams, he faces an inner struggle between his long-lasting wish of getting justice for his father and his newfound desire to follow his heart. As the story and his character development progress, you get to understand better the deep sorrow, loneliness, and inner struggles he carries, but also his kindness, honesty, and determination, showing him as an emotionally complex but inherently sympathetic character.  4. The natural and beautiful romance  From rivals in the game to coworkers in real life and even getting to be roommates, in this C-drama, the main couple goes through every trope. They have the chance to fully explore their feelings, getting to know each other to build a foundation for their relationship as strong as the buildings they design. They don’t fall at first sight nor at the second, but that is what makes their romance all the more endearing and relatable. Although they only get together near the end of the show, it doesn’t feel like it’s dragging unnecessarily; it has just the perfect pace.  Their love story feels natural yet special in the way they fall in love as they share their memories, struggles, and happiness. Of course, there’s a bit of yearning and angst along the way, but even the most fateful of loves need a little bit of challenge to become stronger. And once the romance blooms, it makes you feel all the sweetness, warmth, and beauty of the spring even in the middle of winter, giving us one of the best couples of this first month of the year.
