August Girl Group Member Brand Reputation Rankings Announced

The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for individual girl group members! The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, communication, and community awareness indexes of 725 girl group members, using big data collected from July 17 to August 17. BLACKPINK’s Rosé held onto her spot at the top of the list this month with a brand reputation index of 6,815,907, marking a 15.80 percent increase in her score since July. High-ranking phrases in her keyword analysis included “JUMP,” “APT.”, and “Billboard,” while her highest-ranking related terms included “record,” “celebrate,” and “prove.” Rosé’s positivity-negativity analysis also revealed a score of 93.42 percent positive reactions. IVE’s Jang Won Young maintained her position at second place with a brand reputation index of 6,441,557, marking a 13.41 percent rise in her score since last month. BLACKPINK’s Jennie remained third on the list this month with a brand reputation index of 6,280,705, marking a 17.13 percent increase in her score since July. IVE’s An Yu Jin similarly held steady at fourth place with a brand reputation index of 4,186,388, marking an 18.96 percent rise in her score since last month. KATSEYE Cancels Summer Sonic Osaka Performance Due To 2 Members Falling Ill

KATSEYE will no longer be performing at Summer Sonic Osaka today. On August 16 at midnight KST, KATSEYE announced that they would not be able to perform at Summer Sonic Osaka that day as originally scheduled. According to their agency, the cancellation was “due to two members feeling unwell, which has led to delays in their travel plans to ensure they can properly rest.” However, because “both members have fully recovered and have been cleared to fly to Tokyo,” KATSEYE will still be performing at Summer Sonic Tokyo as scheduled on August 17. In addition to the official announcement, the KATSEYE members also posted a handwritten letter to their fans expressing their regret at having to miss Summer Sonic Osaka. The official cancellation announcement is as follows: This is your KATSEYE community manager. We are very sorry to share that KATSEYE will not be able to perform at Summer Sonic Osaka on Saturday, August 16, due to two members feeling unwell which has led to delays in their travel plans to ensure they can properly rest. We know many EYEKONS [KATSEYE’s fans] were looking forward to seeing KATSEYE at Summer Sonic Osaka and we sincerely apologize for the sudden change. BLACKPINK continued their reign at the top of the list this month with a brand reputation index of 6,943,448. High-ranking phrases in the group’s keyword analysis included “JUMP,” “world tour,” and “BLINK,” while their highest-ranking related terms included “gather,” “surpass,” and “collaborate.” BLACKPINK’s positivity-negativity analysis also revealed a score of 92.27 percent positive reactions. Meanwhile, BTS maintained their position at second place with a brand reputation index of 6,169,542 for August. IVE held onto their spot at third place with a brand reputation index of 5,193,674, marking a 35.87 percent increase in their score since July. Lee Ji Hoon’s agency has confirmed that he is the actor who was reported to the police by his wife for alleged domestic violence. According to the police, they received a phone call on the afternoon of July 24 claiming that Lee Ji Hoon had assaulted his wife at their home in Bucheon. During an argument with his wife, the actor reportedly tried to leave his house, and his wife attempted to stop him, leading to a physical fight. Although the police began investigating Lee Ji Hoon on the allegations of assault, his wife did not wish to press charges, so the incident was classified as a domestic violence case rather than a criminal one. Additionally, based on witness testimony and the fact that the accuser did not want Lee Ji Hoon to be prosecuted, the police intends to close the case soon. On August 14, Lee Ji Hoon’s agency Y.ONE Entertainment responded to reports about the incident in which he was referred to as “40-something actor ‘A’” by confirming that Lee Ji Hoon was the actor in question. However, the agency stated that while it was true that Lee Ji Hoon’s wife had called the police on him during an argument, there had been no assault during the incident. The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community awareness indexes of various rookie idol groups, using big data collected from July 5 to August 5. AHOF, the group formed on the survival show “Universe League,” shot to the top of this month’s list after seeing a whopping 1,779.94 percent increase in their brand reputation index since July—bringing their total score to 1,045,445.  High-ranking phrases in AHOF’s keyword analysis included “The Universe,” “Rendezvous,” and “fan-con,” while their highest-ranking related terms included “lovely,” “youthful,” and “refreshing.” The group’s positivity-negativity analysis also revealed a score of 83.29 percent positive reactions. TWS took second place with a brand reputation index of 995,992, while KiiiKiii ranked third with a score of 914,670 and ILLIT followed in fourth with a score of 863,314.
