the acting is the one kept me watching this series, absolutely amazing series. First 3 eps where bloody and kind of unwatchable for me but then each eps became like climbing a mountain. NO BORING EPS AND NO BORING ACTORS!!!! Everything was incredible and interesting. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TO PEOPLE WHO LOVES HORROR!!

Critica sin filtro

It doesn’t rely on cheap jump scares or random twists. What makes it stand out is its consistency. The story builds a system with clear rules — and actually respects them. Every decision has consequences, and the tension comes from watching characters navigate a game designed for them to fail. There are echoes of franchises like A Nightmare on Elm Street or Saw, where the “evil” doesn’t disappear, it just moves on. But this series doesn’t copy — it builds its own identity by mixing folklore with modern elements in a way that feels both grounded and unsettling. The pacing is excellent. I didn’t skip a single scene — and that says a lot. In fact, I found myself rewatching moments just to feel the tension again. And the ending? It’s not the one you expect — it’s the one the story needed. It closes the main conflict while making it clear that the system is still active. They survived… but the game didn’t end.

This drama is about absolute stupidity of ppl who do NOT listen and who think certain things are a joke or some kind of fun, and who utter wishes which are totally ... inappropriate, and who make actions that are totally inappropriate - and then cause unnecessary trouble like crazyFor example: the shaman's daughter wishing that her mother dies. then getting soooo mad about the talisman that she publicly ridiculed her friend; the "pretty boy" who beat up the friend; and then friend wishing they all die and hurting herself. THOSE ARE VERY DUMB STUPID ACTIONSThis drama is really a lesson on karma and what not to do. It is spiritual equivalent of "dont drink and driver or else you will get in trouble."The drama is quite cringe and totally Hogwarts kind of stuff for young pplBASICALLY THE MESSAGE OF THIS DRAMA IS TO STAY CALM, PAY ATTENTION, NOT GO TO PLACES THAT FEEL WEIRD, NOT HANG OUT WITH PPL WHO FEEL WEIRD, AND NEVER WISH OR SAY OR BEHAVE IN WAYS THAT ARE LESS THAN EXEMPLARYthe whole drama is about the law of karmaand the demonic forces that help to execute punishment for creating bad karmaAlso, it is notable that most kids got in trouble for sheer curiosity, stupid needless joking, as well as perceived "needs" such as grades, and asking to get it without any effort, i.e. the kid was delusional in their thinking. Also notice that no kids wished that the app be deleted forever, they all were too self-centered and did not see beyond their own little issues in front of them - and that allows the evil to propagate. Notice that only kids who had the courage and intergrity to HONESTLY TALK about what happened to them survived. Kids that believed some bs and never asked to clarify it, did stupid stuff and died/got stuck. Also notice that all key players actively contributing to the evil app were somehow connected to evil and/or had a propensity for it. For example: Shaman's daughter GENUINELY wished her mother to die, publicly ridiculed her friend, did not stop the beating of her friend by the "pretty guy", wished to create the demonic app - she was truly the daughter of her mother whom she so hated - her mother was a black shaman, capable and willing to harm others... the friend kept hanging out with the shaman mom and wished death to others; Na Ri was a chronic liar and deceiver/manipulator/backstabber, grabber, club goer/drinker and an entitled rich kid; I would think she would end up as a drug addict and/or a major nasty figure of authorityand the weird Discord kid who reactivated the app was taking pills and giving them to HJ; he read the online manual for the app; and he knew for sure that HJ died and the app kills - YET he listened to what the demon wrote online and went to retrieve the phone and reactivate the app. That kid was off the rails somehow... All the kids who helped the evil had some major problems and evil streaksand some looked so cute ... those girls with long hair, so pretty like dolls... but ... killersThe discord kid definitely looked weird and behaved weirdSo the bottom line is - be someone exemplary, live a clean decent life, and do not indulge in things that are overboard, shady, etc communicate honestly, and that will be your "wash your hands before you eat and dont drink when you drive" kinda protection mechanism. >>>>> The drama has some very deep messages that most of the audience might miss while watching the glitz special effects :) <<<<<For those messages, I give the drama 10/10. The gory details and shocks are kinda cringe cheesy so that's why overall lesser rating.

Wishes That Rot

"If Wishes Could Kill" operates on the kind of logic that feels both absurd and uncomfortably believable, like the digital age finally admitting it might actually want you dead. A group of high school students stumbles across an app called Girigo that promises to grant any wish, followed by a neat little 24-hour countdown to your death. It sounds like a joke because it should be one, and for a brief moment, the characters treat it that way, which only makes the shift into horror land harder when the first wish actually works and reality snaps in half. The story settles around five students whose friendships already carry the usual unspoken tensions, the kind that exist in any tightly wound group where affection, jealousy, and insecurity are constantly overlapping. Se-ah and Geon-woo are secretly dating, which feels less romantic than it does fragile, like something that could collapse the second it is exposed. Na-ri openly pursues him anyway, not out of ignorance but out of determination, turning an already unstable situation into something sharper. Around them, the group dynamic starts to erode in small, almost invisible ways before the app steps in and accelerates the damage. What makes the first half work is how deliberately it targets emotional weak points. The horror is not just the inevitability of death but the manipulation leading up to it. The supernatural force uses phantom texts and phone calls to make everyone question what is real and what is betrayal. It understands that in a world mediated through screens, perception is everything, and once that fractures, relationships do not break cleanly, they rot from the inside. The tension builds not through spectacle but through mistrust, and it lands because it feels plausible in a way that is difficult to shake off.Ha-joon, the group’s resident problem-solver, initially approaches the app like a technical issue that can be fixed, which feels almost comforting until it fails. His attempt to delete it leads the story somewhere older and more unsettling, pulling in his estranged sister and her shaman husband and shifting the narrative from digital horror into something rooted in folklore and curse logic. This transition expands the world effectively at first, suggesting that the app is not just a modern anomaly but part of a longer, more tragic chain of events. As the series moves forward, it begins to explore the origin of Girigo, revealing the pain and history embedded within it. There are moments where this deepening of the mythology works, particularly when the characters are forced into confrontations that feel less like plot progression and more like emotional reckoning. The netherworld sequences carry a distinct unease, pushing each character to face fears that feel personal rather than purely supernatural. However, the more the story explains, the more it weakens its own foundation. What begins as a tightly controlled, psychologically driven horror gradually shifts into something over-articulated, where every mystery is unpacked and every connection is clarified. The ambiguity that once created tension is replaced by exposition, and the fear that thrived in uncertainty starts to lose its grip. Instead of letting silence and implication do the work, the narrative insists on filling every gap, as if worried the audience might miss something if left alone with the dark. This shift affects the pacing as well. The second half feels heavier, not because the stakes are higher, but because the story becomes preoccupied with explaining itself. Emotional beats that should linger are often interrupted by information, creating a rhythm that struggles to maintain immersion. The result is a series that continues to look polished and perform well but no longer feels as sharp as it once did.Despite this, the performances remain strong, grounding the more elaborate elements in something recognisably human. The characters are not reduced to archetypes even as the plot becomes more complex, and their fears, desires, and regrets continue to carry weight. There is still an undercurrent of commentary about identity, digital dependency, and the fragility of trust in a hyper-connected world, even if it becomes less subtle over time.In the end, If Wishes Could Kill leaves behind a mixed impression. It is a series with a compelling premise, a strong emotional core, and an early stretch that demonstrates a clear understanding of how to build tension through character and atmosphere. But it also becomes a cautionary example of what happens when a story explains too much of itself, mistaking clarity for depth. It remains engaging, unsettling, and occasionally striking, but never quite as powerful as it is in the moments when it chooses not to explain, when it allows the fear to exist without definition. Those are the moments where it feels most alive, and ironically, the ones it trusts the least.

A Killer App in Every Sense

Would you dare trade your life for a wish that comes true, no fine print except the ultimate cost? That is the Faustian bargain at the heart of If Wishes Could Kill, a high school thriller that spins temptation, fear, and friendship into one very bloody cautionary tale. It all begins at Seorin High School, where five close friends stumble upon an app called Girigo. The pitch is simple and dangerously alluring: make a wish, and it will be granted. The catch is even simpler. You will die soon after. Cue the moral dilemma, the paranoia, and the slow unraveling of a friend group that was already hanging by a thread. Before the app even enters the picture, the story quietly sets up a web of secrets and unspoken tension among the five. Yu Se Ah is secretly dating Kim Geon Woo, fully aware that Im Na Ri has feelings for him. Geon Woo plays the classic “I see nothing, I know nothing” card, even though he probably does. Na Ri keeps chasing him anyway, while also judging Hyeong Uk behind his back for his otaku interests. Hyeong Uk, for his part, carries that insecurity like a shadow. Then there is Kang Ha Jun, silently liking Se Ah despite her relationship. It is less “best friends forever” and more “recipe for disaster,” just waiting for a spark. Girigo becomes that spark, and then some. When Hyeong Uk uses the app to ace a math test, nobody takes it seriously at first. It feels like your typical urban legend, the kind you would laugh about over instant noodles. That disbelief shatters the moment the curse reveals itself through his chilling death. His final moments are unsettling enough to send shivers, and credit goes to Lee Hyo Je for making that descent into something eerie and memorable, even with such limited screen time. His death hits the group hard, though not uniformly. Se Ah is deeply shaken, especially as she witnesses it firsthand, triggering memories of her parents’ death. Geon Woo and Ha Jun are left reeling from the sheer horror of it. Na Ri, however, feels like a question mark from the very beginning. The nail biting, the restless eyes, the fact that she was not there when things went south. Something about her screams “there is more to this story.” That is where casting does some heavy lifting. Having Kang Mi Na as Na Ri adds a layer of assurance. The role demands a careful balance of vulnerability and secrecy, and she delivers that quiet tension convincingly. While many of the younger cast are relatively new faces, her presence anchors the emotional undercurrent, especially when the narrative starts peeling back its layers. As the stakes rise, the story expands beyond the school setting. In an attempt to save Se Ah after she makes a wish, Ha Jun brings her to his sister Ha Sal’s secluded mountain home. Ha Sal, or Haetsal, is introduced as a powerful shaman figure, someone so overwhelmed by her own abilities that stepping outside her domain could literally kill her. It is a compelling concept on paper, but the execution feels undercooked. Despite Jeon So Nee having proven her range in other works, Ha Sal ends up feeling more like a plot device than a fully realized character. The gravitas you would expect from someone holding that kind of power just is not quite there, and the writing does her no favors. Interestingly, the character who leaves the strongest impression is not one of the central five, but Bang Wool. Played by Noh Jae Won, Bang Wool walks in with charm, comedic timing, and just enough eccentricity to steal scenes without trying too hard. He brings a refreshing energy into an otherwise tense narrative, like a splash of color in a grayscale world. There is something oddly endearing about him, to the point where emotional investment sneaks up on you. It does make you wish the script had explored his backstory and the mystery around him a bit more, because there is clearly untapped potential.Back at the core group, the performances are a mixed bag. Jeon So Young as Se Ah shines more in darker, emotionally heavy moments than in lighter scenes. There are times when her expressions feel a bit restrained, which, combined with the writing, makes her presence as the central lead less impactful than it could have been. Visually though, there is a moment during her search for the phone where her look oddly echoes Usagi, which is a fun little déjà vu for fans of survival thrillers. Baek Sun Ho fits Geon Woo’s archetype perfectly, the handsome, devoted high school boyfriend who only has eyes for one person. With limited screen time, he still manages to convey Geon Woo’s loyalty and affection convincingly. Hyun Woo Seok as Ha Jun, on the other hand, struggles to leave a strong impression. Part of it is the writing. Ha Jun is impulsive, loud, and often frustrating, the kind of character who feels like a ticking time bomb but not always in a compelling way. There is a particular moment involving a very questionable decision that might make you want to yell at your screen. You will know it when you see it.Structurally, the drama starts strong. The first half builds tension effectively, pulling you into the mystery of Girigo and the race against time. It is less about the gore and more about the suspense, the constant feeling that something is about to go very wrong. Even if you are not a fan of horror, the show has a way of keeping you hooked. The jump scares are there, and while most are predictable, they still serve their purpose. You brace yourself, and then it happens anyway. The second half, however, feels like it loses some of that momentum. There is an entire episode dedicated to explaining the origin of the app and the curse. While the intention is clear, the execution feels oddly anticlimactic compared to the buildup. Instead of a slow drip of revelations, the story opts for a full info dump, which does not quite match the tone established earlier. The ending follows a similar pattern. It feels rushed, leaving several threads dangling and raising more questions than it answers. If you are the type who enjoys neat resolutions, this might test your patience. On the production side, the drama initially gives off a modest, almost web drama vibe. But as it progresses, the quality of editing and CGI stands out in a good way. The visuals, especially during the more intense sequences, are polished enough to elevate the experience. The soundtrack and sound effects also do their part, sometimes even sneaking in a bit of unexpected humor amidst the tension. At its core, If Wishes Could Kill is not reinventing the wheel. The cursed app concept has been explored before, but what keeps it engaging is the interplay between desire and consequence, wrapped in a suspense driven narrative. It is the kind of show where you do not overanalyze every detail. You sit back, let the tension do its thing, and enjoy the ride, plot holes and all. In the end, it is a quick, gripping watch with enough thrills to keep you entertained, even if it does not stick the landing perfectly. A solid 7.5 feels just right.

If wishes could kill: Triggering, horrific yet riveting.

If Wishes Could Kill' tells the story of high schoolers who come across an app called Girigo that can make wishes come true, but each wish comes at a cost... your life.I found the show riveting from the first episode to the last; there wasn't a dull moment. There's a lot of horrific elements and violence, and those can be triggering, but all the more, it was an amazing watch. It's fast-paced, and everything happens in a way that doesn't drop the ball. The acting is amazing from literally the entire cast, and the backstory of how the app came to be is also well explained, so we don't have a situation of 'why is this happening this way?' It's a fun and exciting watch.Trigger warning, though: there is lots of violence and bloody scenes and elements of horror that could leave you feeling eerie. I advise to watch out for those.

Everyone’s got a price.

Yes—everything has a price, so be careful what you wish for.If this is your first time watching something in this genre, chances are you’ll like it. It’s bloody, disgusting, sad, and oddly charming. But if you’ve seen more than a few similar stories… you’re probably already tired of the same formula: a group of students gets involved in something unknown, which eventually turns into a curse (zombies, monsters, krakens—whatever the screenwriter chooses), and they have to fight for their lives with everything they’ve got. This show is exactly that—nothing more, but nothing less. The story had a good premise. After all, who isn’t at least a little afraid of an app you can’t delete—one that leads to death? I watched the first episode and thought, “Oh, this is good!” But then something went wrong, and it became… let’s say boring. Bloody, but boring. It doesn’t make you wonder what’s behind the closed door or the flowing curtains.Furthermore, the characters are one-dimensional, the situations they find themselves in are predictable, and the dialogue feels unnatural. There’s nothing to challenge your brain—no complex situations to unravel, no sense of mystery about where it’s all heading. Just a growing impatience to reach the end so you can move on to something more worthwhile.I didn’t like it, I didn’t hate it—it just didn’t hit home for me.

Started strong, then just dropped completely.

Alright, I went into If Wishes Could Kill with the kind of optimism you reserve for a fresh mango at peak ripeness. You know the feeling. You’re already mentally tasting it before you even cut it open. Eight episodes? Easy binge. Supernatural horror? My nonsense tolerance is high. I am ready to forgive things if the vibe hits. This drama looked me straight in the eye and said, “I will waste your time efficiently.” And to its credit, it absolutely delivered on that promise. We finished it in a day. Not because it was good. Because it felt like ripping off a bandage you accidentally glued to your skin. The first couple of episodes? Not bad. There was a setup. There was intrigue. There was even a faint whisper of atmosphere trying to form, like the show briefly remembered what good Asian horror feels like. You know the kind, where dread creeps in through silence, where negative space does the heavy lifting, where your brain fills in the horror before the screen even shows it. That delicate tension? Gone by episode three. Fully evicted. What replaced it was a chaotic parade of “boo!” moments like the show discovered jump scares and decided to build an entire identity around them. And look, jump scares are fine. They’re seasoning, not the whole meal. This show took the salt shaker, unscrewed the cap, and dumped it directly into your mouth. Every time tension tried to build, it got interrupted by another loud noise and a ghost popping into frame like it missed its cue in a haunted house attraction. At some point, I stopped reacting. I wasn’t scared. I wasn’t tense. I was mildly annoyed, like someone repeatedly tapping my shoulder while I’m trying to watch something better. What hurts more is the wasted potential. There are ideas here that could have worked. The premise has teeth. The early tone hinted at something unsettling, something that could linger. Instead, the story starts unraveling at an impressive speed, like it actively resents coherence. Characters make decisions that feel less like human behavior and more like the writer throwing darts at a board labeled “plot progression.” Emotional beats land with the impact of a wet paper towel. You can see where the story wants you to feel something, but it never earns it.And the horror logic. Oh, the horror logic. I give supernatural stories a wide pass. You want to bend rules? Fine. You want ghosts operating on vibes instead of physics? Sure. But at least stay consistent within your own nonsense. This drama treats its own rules like optional suggestions. Things happen because the script needs them to happen, not because they make sense within the world. It turns tension into confusion, and confusion into apathy. Once you stop trying to understand, the show becomes background noise with occasional loud interruptions.By the second half, it stops even pretending. Plot threads get dropped, character motivations evaporate, and what’s left feels like a speedrun to the ending. Not a satisfying sprint, more like someone tripping over the finish line and calling it a victory. You sit there thinking, “Wait, that’s it?” Not in a shocked way. In a “you’ve got to be kidding me” way.And the biggest crime? It completely ignores what makes Asian horror shine. The genre thrives on restraint. On what you don’t see. On that slow, creeping unease that settles into your bones. This show replaces all of that with noise and cheap tricks. It’s like watching someone try to recreate a haunting melody using only a car horn.So yeah, if you need a quick horror fix and your standards are currently on vacation, this will fill the time. It’s short. It moves fast. It ends before you have too much time to process how little it gave you. But if you were hoping for something atmospheric, something smart, something that respects your brain even a little bit, this ain’t it.I went in expecting a carefully ripened mango. I got one that looked perfect on the outside and turned out mushy and overripe the second I cut into it. Technically edible. Deeply disappointing. If your alternative is staring at a wall or scheduling a root canal, sure, queue it up. Otherwise, your time deserves better.

Better than I expected it to be

I really had no expectations for this drama, and it turned out to be pretty good. The origin story on how the app was made was probably my favourite part and the highlight of the drama. The whole cast did amazing, but I want to applaud the actresses who played Kwon Siwon & Do Hyeryung, they did a phenomenal job and have a bright future. I actually started this drama mainly because of Kang Mina (Nari), so I was a bit disappointed with how her storyline wrapped up. It didn’t feel fully explained or resolved, which sucks because her character had a lot of emotional weight.Another thing I couldn’t fully get behind was the love triangle. Like, I understand why Geonwoo likes Seah that one felt natural and built up, but Hajoon being in love with her? That kinda came out of left field. They didn’t really explore his feelings enough for it to feel believable, so it just ended up raising more questions than adding depth. This drama would've benefited heavily if it had more episodes though. Like imagine a more in-depth story, could've been a top 5 drama for me this year but that's not the case. That said, despite all my confusion and unanswered questions, I still recommend this, especially if you like horror. The acting was solid, the pacing made it super bingeable, and it definitely kept me hooked. And that post credits scene?? Yeah, they’re clearly setting something up, so I really hope we get a season 2 to fill in all these gaps.

It keeps you hooked!

If Wishes Could Kill is an eight-episode K-drama that, despite its imperfections, is a genuinely solid watch. The cast overall does a good job, though some performances felt less gripping than others. That said, the chemistry between geong Woo and Seoh ah is a definite highlight. The story explores a chilling premise, you can make any wish, but it comes at the cost of your own life. It dives deep into how revenge, jealousy, and hatred can push people to make devastating choices, ultimately spiraling into something completely uncontrollable. The narrative isn’t the most compelling, but it does what it needs to do to keep you engaged. All in all, If Wishes Could Kill may not be perfect, but it hooks you in and keeps you watching till the end.

Very overhyped

So yeah, I watched lots..lots of videos on instagram about this kdrama, fortunately managed to avoid spoiler ones. And almost all of the were like "It's a masterpiece!", 10 out 10 etc. Trailer didn't impress me, but I still decided to give it a chance. Well...can't say that it was terrible decision, but I was surprised in a bad way. Production here is not really bad, but it feels very low budget, like some low-budget trashy japanese series. And btw, this kdrama looks more like jdrama. Especially because of amount of blood. I instantly remembered japanese drama "Crow's Blood". It was also very silly and very bloody. Story is not very interesting, twists are very predictable, characters not interesting, except maybe Na-Ri. Brother-in-law character is comedic relief here, and this is also one of my problems. Too many silly, stupid moments, like in comedy, and with sudden comedic music...in horror show! And as far as I know, it wasn't promoted like a black horror comedy or something like that. Also, the ending...No, I will say in general - after first couple of episodes story went downhill, except maybe episode 6. There are a lot of confusing story elements, and some of them just lead nowhere, or didn't get a proper resolution. Can't really say much about acting - it was ok mostly. Kim Siwon and Hyeryung actresses and Kang Mi-Na are propably the best here, their acting was great, but their storylines felt really underdeveloped. Jeon So Nee was good, but nothing special, main heroine was ok, others - mediocre. So, I don't understand the hype and good ratings. It's not completely terrible show, but not good either. I rated it with 5, mostly because it's short, with fast pacing, good concept overall, but really simirar to the german series "Wishlist", and with some good acting, but that's about it.

Starts Very Well

Okay. First of all, it's not 10 out of 10. And I am only on episode 3. However, I always give generous ratings to good stuff and I don't understand people giving low ratings because it's not to their taste. Drama doesn't mislead you. It's a eerie, horror, teenage drama from the start. And it is executed very well. I got chills. I am intrigued. Even though the concept is not a brand new thing, I highly enjoy it. If you are not a horror fan, of course you are not going to like this. If you are going in thinking everything has to be so rational and realistic... maybe supernatural horror is not for you.I watched a lot of horror movies and tv series, and I can confidently say: this is good. I will revise my review after I finish the show. But until now:- script is good. I am intrigued, curious, and slightly scared. That's all I wanted from this show.-directing is good.-actors are really good. They are new to me. I only know the guy from Cheer Up. But I like them all so far. If you like horror and kdramas, give it a chance.

or more like "if friendship could kill"

Human beings are the only creatures that have the ability to speak, but they can't communicate. As long as human beings' selfish desires exist, no one can break the curse. I am not into these horror , mystery thriller, and gruesome shows, but people on Reddit said it's kinda similar to "Night Has Come", so I picked it up. I went with fewer expectations, but the acting amazed me. Honestly, there are a lot of loopholes in the plot; I can't even fathom whether it is an open ending or a season 2 teaser . The cast gave their everything , it felt realistic with their acting. *clap clap* Maybe it could be better if we could get 12 episodes to show some character story and about their friendship; it passed too fast, even though I was rooting for the second main lead and the female lead, but we needed more of their parts. The story was jumping back and forth with the storyline, so it was kinda confusing If season 2 gets announced, then of course I will watch it because I watched season 1 and want answers to my questions, but I do think the plot could be better. Avoid if you can't watch blood and gore, and please check trigger warnings.

Not a masterpiece, but, yes, a good drama. I think the script was not as good as the others aspects of the drama. I mean, sometimes it portrayed the characters in a very dumb way and solve the problems caused by that with not the complexity it deserved. The acting was good, but we can see the difference between the actings when the drama starts to tell the first 2 girls history, the diference in acting was massive, they nailed it. The best part of the drama for me.I don't think i'm up for a S2 of this drama, because the ending teases, maybe, a loop of the original history... So probably people will get tired of it, but let's hope for the best.7/10 ⭐

dud

it started off with a good shock factor then went downhill. the main fl was consistently irritating from start to finish. i was naturally pessimistic they weren't going to accomplish a lot before the end, and as soon as main fl started doing everything her guide said not to, i completely lost faith in her. plus the 'my friend's still in there' vibes and calling friend's name when she clearly checked out got on my nerves. writing didn't do a lot to help you get attached to the rest of the main group on top of that, but i did appreciate geon woo not being dumb when it counted. it took everyone else way too long to shift gears for me.... entire drama gave me anxiety just from wanting it to be over sooner. only people ready to do their job was the big sister and her right hand man. 2/10 if i'm being honest. for an occult type drama, it didn't really do anything refreshing or new. you won't miss out if you skip it.

This is not your typical horror series.

Level of graphical violence in this drama.

I liked the drama overall. The character of Haetsal / Kang Ha Yeong was portrayed outstandingly by Jeon So Nee. The way she reacted to the attacks and her expression were so on point. At some point i felt Yoo Se A was annoying for acting on her own in many things, like not listning to Bang U when in the house. Kang Mi Na gave life to the characterof nari, i hate her charactersoo much like how can you discriminate your friends, even if you have a love interest, you should listen to your other friends. Hyeong Uk being the typical high school student who will do ant thing to obtain good marks to the point to risk his own life, and using unknown app is a good start. Kwon Si Won the eltimate defination of evil! i found Do Hye Ryeong as a flexible character. anyways she was inocent until she decide to wish for others to die, but she had her reasons so its ok. its a good drama totally recommended but if you cannot take self-harm it's not for you. this drama includes eye cutting, parasites, ghosts, throat cutting, blood everywhere.

What A Disappointment

When the trailer first dropped, I was so excited to watch it. I genuinely thought it was going to be another great survival game set in a high school environment, similar to Night Has Come. But after spending 8 hours watching every episode, I quickly realized this was more The Conjuring-type horror… which was definitely not what I expected or what the trailer really hinted at.The premise itself was actually really interesting: a mysterious app that grants wishes at the cost of your life , dark and thrilling, right?Unfortunately, I went into this drama with really high expectations, which made the disappointment hit even harder. I didn’t completely hate it , the beginning was intriguing, I laughed with the characters and even got scared at times but I never felt truly connected or invested. I was mostly just curious to see how it would end.In the end, it’s a short K-drama that can help pass the time if you’re bored, but don’t expect it to live up to its promising concept.

That another potential hit series but the main character is a little dumb .... again.

Once again, we have a potentially legendary series held back by protagonists who ignore every red flag in the book. Whether it's Se-ah's stubbornness or the group's refusal to follow simple survival warnings about the Girigo app, the plot often feels like it's being dragged forward by the characters' sheer lack of common sense. The K-drama industry needs to realize that we can have drama and intelligent characters. It’s frustrating to see such high-caliber production and visceral scares undermined by characters who consistently ignore common sense, yet the series redeems itself through its experimental edge and impeccable comedic timing. The blend of digital dread and genuine humor is a "chef’s kiss" experience that proves the Korean film industry is still the best at testing new boundaries, even if the writing occasionally sacrifices character intelligence for the sake of drama.

Be Careful What You Wish For!

this was an interesting watch!I feel like the drama had a killer concept (pun intended 🤣) and had the potential to be amazing, but it couldn’t really live up to its potential. it started off really strong, but somehow fell flat towards the middle/end. I liked the underlying message of the drama, “your wishes have consequences, no matter how stupid or insignificant they may seem”. the mix of shamanism with modern technology was a great idea. the acting was incredible. unfortunately, the same can’t be said about the characters. some of the characters were so one dimensional that you couldn’t care less if they died. there were some things i found stupid or didnt like, but I didn’t find the drama as bad as some of these reviews made it out to be. overall, I think it was an interesting drama to binge on a Saturday night. I will probably be tuning in if they make a second season!

So why did nobody wish for it to stop?

With all the wishes being made, you would think at least one person would say, "Okay, a supernatural curse is following and killing everyone; let’s try wishing for it to stop." But no. Not once. It wasn't even on anyone's radar. They just wished for literal nonsense; not a single wish was actually beneficial to the plot.To be fair, horror shows aren't my favorite. I usually dislike them because of the way characters act without a single common brain cell, and this show managed to capture everything I hate about the genre in its entirety.Imagine everyone around you is dying from a supernatural curse and your major focus is... that. You're 18 years old, and all you can think about is yourself and some boy? Nari is one of the worst-written characters I’ve ever witnessed in K-drama history. Honestly, her demise is one of the main reasons I’m rating this mediocrity as high as I am. Almost all the characters were so annoying that I found myself more interested in the side characters, who at least provided some entertainment. I know it sounds wrong, but I wanted the villain to win. I wanted all of them to die because that’s how bored I was. The antagonist was completely justified; she took the phrase "I want my enemies to suffer" literally.Moving past the characters, the plot was so confusing it was hard to keep track of what was happening. The creators relied heavily on cheap jump scares to keep you motivated to watch. The beginning was also far too fast-paced. I understand it’s only eight episodes at less than 45 minutes each, but how can you kill off a supposedly "important" character so early and expect viewers to care? People were dying in almost every episode, and my only reaction was, "Oh, okay." No shock, no emotion—just "What’s next?"It’s not a bad drama—I’m sure someone else will rate it higher than I did—but it’s not very good either. It’s the kind of show you watch once and then immediately forget. Like so many other Netflix Korean dramas lately, it feels more about churning out content than taking the time to develop a show with actual substance. This is just my review, but definitely try it for yourselves.

The story was quite compelling. The execution was something else completely. The drama was shot beautifully. The acting was super good. However, the characters as they were written were hard to connect with because we never spend time with these people to understand their motives. So when they cry or die we feel nothing which isn't good. Even the dialogue felt unnatural, but we had little time to question it before the characters were thrown in another sticky situation. My final thoughts are the logic of the the world they build is none existent. A child dies at school, no police, parents or social services are involved, because why? We are too busy trying to get back to story of the cursed app with only 4 kids on the case.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR

Girigo follows a group of high school students who download an app that grants any wish. The catch? Once the wish is fulfilled, the user only has 24 hours left to live. I found the show not that scary. What it does instead is drown everything in blood. The frequency of the bloody scenes was just too much. After a while, the gore stops being shocking. You see someone slit their throat and you just shrug because the bloody mess doesn't give you the chills anymore. The acting was decent; No one embarrassed themselves, but no one blew me away either. But the real strength of the drama was the plot. I especially liked how the wishes were connected to shamanism. It's refreshing to see a phone app used as a medium to pass on curses. It makes sense because the characters belong to the digital era. The writer did a good job of tying the origin of the curse to the lives of the main characters and making the backstory feel like an important part of the story. I also appreciated the drama’s logic behind the curse, which I found more frightening than the horror scenes themselves. Each person only gets one wish, and once that wish is granted, death follows within 24 hours. Since none of the characters know the price beforehand, their wishes are driven by personal wants. That made their choices feel believable. It also made sense that none of them used their wish to stop the curse. Doing that would mean sacrificing their own life for everyone else, and realistically, most people would not make that choice. That selfish but human reaction made the story feel realistic, despite the supernatural setup. Honestly, I found Girigo to be a solid watch. It won't exactly have you sleeping with the lights on, but the concept is actually cool.It was truly a fun way to kill an evening.

A Wish For A Life : Would You Still Press The Button?

I honestly didn’t expect to finish this in one sitting, but I got so sucked into the mystery that I ended up binge watching it. "If Wishes Could Kill (Girigo)" is one of the best supernatural thrillers I’ve seen in a long time. If you’re looking for a drama that keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you question human nature, this is the one. The plot is so unique and creepy. It’s about a group of high schoolers who find an app called "Girigo" that grants any wish you want. The catch? Once your wish comes true, you only have 24 hours left to live. It sounds simple, but the way the story unfolds is so intense. It’s not just about the horror; it’s about the secrets between friends, the desperation, and how far people will go when they’re pushed to a corner. The mystery behind who created the app and why it exists kept me guessing until the very last second. The cast did an incredible job! Jeon So-young as Se-ah was so powerful, you can really feel her determination to save her friends. Kang Mi-na was also a standout; she played the popular girl Na-ri with so much depth, making her more than just a "pretty face." Even the guys, Baek Sun-ho and Hyun Woo-seok, were amazing. Their chemistry felt so real, which made it even more heartbreaking to watch them struggle against the clock. You can really feel their fear through the screen. I planned to watch just one episode before bed, but the cliffhangers didn't let me! I ended up binging all 8 episodes in one go because I literally could not stop. The pacing is perfect, it doesn't drag at all and every episode adds something new to the mystery. If you like dramas like All of Us Are Dead, Night Has Come, or Death's Game, you need to watch this immediately. It has that same high-stakes energy where you never know who is going to make it out alive It’s dark, emotional, and very psychological. It makes you think: Is your greatest desire worth your life? Do yourself a favor and go watch it right now. Just don’t blame me if you stay up all night like I did!Overall if you are a fan of supernatural, horror genre with thrill, this one is a must watch!!! [Note : This is just my personal opinion and rating. Everyone has different tastes, so if this isn't your type of drama, that's totally fine we don't all have to agree!]

will there be a s2

The ending of the series was undeniably a cliffhanger, and I must say it left me both intrigued and frustrated. I absolutely loved the journey throughout the series, but the final moments raised so many questions that I just can't shake. The way the plot unfolded, with its intricate character arcs and thrilling twists, kept me on the edge of my seat. However, what was that ending all about? It felt like a rollercoaster ride that suddenly stopped right before the big finale. One detail that particularly caught my attention was the red in the guy's eyes. This seems to imply that the story is far from over. It has me wondering whether the threat posed by the girigo is still looming large. If there was ever a moment that screamed for a continuation, this was it! The tension built throughout the season suggests that the creators have left things purposefully unresolved, which can be quite maddening for viewers who are invested in the characters and their fates. The series had done an excellent job of building its world and characters, each with their struggles and complexities. I found myself genuinely caring about what happened to them, and now the uncertainty about their future is almost unbearable. The unresolved issues and the potential for further conflict make it seem like there's no way the creators would leave it at this cliffhanger without planning for a second season. I believe it's safe to say that fans like myself are eagerly awaiting news about Season 2. The promise of more twists, character development, and resolutions to the many open threads in the plot is something that I can’t wait for. It’s clear that there’s so much more to explore, and I truly hope the creators recognize that their audience is hungry for more. After such an intense build-up, it would be a disservice to leave the storyline hanging like this. Here’s hoping for a continuation that elaborates on these lingering questions!

Too Much Gore, Not Enough Story

This story seemed kind of intriguing at the beginning. I love a good horror series. It seemed to have a blend of shamanism with a touch of "The Ring" horror movie blended together. A count down of 24 hours instead of seven days ....However, there was real difficulty for me getting pulled into this story. At times it was a bit confusing and a little mixed up with the direction of the plot. It seemed to be focused on blood and gore. I mean, I get it, it's a horror theme, so naturally you need the blood and cutting flesh and all the good stuff that goes with it ... but it just seemed to be excessive, showing the same scenes over and over again. It wasn't until episode 5 that the series started to redeem itself. I'm kind of glad I was able to stick it out that long, because there were a few times I just about gave up on it. From episode 5 through the final episode, it was a much more enjoyable watch. The characters become more in focus, as does the story, too ... all except the ending. Not exactly sure what the ending is trying to suggest or hint at maybe a sequel?? but it really didn't work for me.Overall, not a bad series, but could have been so much better!!!!!

Creepy, winding, esoteric… and incomplete

I was unimpressed in the beginning. It felt like If Wishes Could Kill was trying to reheat Night Has Come’s nachos, which didn’t sound particularly appealing considering I didn’t care for those nachos fresh. But then it took a step back from shock-value gore and leaned more heavily into eldritch suspense, and it started to grow on me. It knew when to slow down and linger, when to pan away, when to lighten the mood and let the viewer breathe, and when to trust the viewer to read between the spoken lines. For a minute there, it felt like I was in good hands. I could just sit back and enjoy the ride while the rollercoaster took us up, up, up the track to the misty summit, where the carriage crested, the mist cleared, and we plummeted…10 feet. After all that anticipatory climbing, the ride proceeded to slow to an anticlimactic stop not even a third of the way down, dump us, and reverse. Is that it? Is the ride over, or is it still under construction? Why would they let us on an unfinished ride? Why build it so high if they didn’t have the materials to bring us the same distance back down?Yeah. That’s the feeling, and it’s a shame because I think this cast had a lot to juggle and, for the most part, managed to pull it off (shout out to Mina—I haven’t really kept up with her since IOI and she did a fab job portraying a completely incomprehensible character). And what did they get for their hard work?A non-ending positively swimming in unanswered questions.• What happened to Si Won’s dad?• What did Si Won do to provoke whatever it was her mom died trying to protect her from?• Why was Hye Ryung so easily convinced to just… leave her friend’s mom to die???• Why did Hye Ryung immediately jump to SACRIFICING HERSELF IN THE MOST GRUESOME MANNER IMAGINABLE TO CURSE HER EX-BFF & FORMER CRUSH when she was bullied for the first time?? I feel like that is a plan z course of action???• Why did Si Won wish for the curse to continue? The only people she might want dead are ALREADY dead?? What was the thought process here, because attributing it to revenge is just not cutting it for me• How did Hyeong Wook’s death get settled so quietly??• Why introduce the mechanic of subsequent wishes stopping the timer on previous wishes if Si Won is still gonna hunt all wishers down, regardless?• Why did no one even consider wishing to end the cycle?• Why was Se A given such Chosen One treatment if there wasn’t gonna be any payoff? No dormant shamanistic aptitude? No family secrets? No “I almost died in the accident that killed my parents and have a stronger connection to the afterlife” reveal? NOTHING???• Ha Yeong. What’s with the snake? How did she go from Regular Joe to Vessel of Divine Power? Was the power acquired? Awakened? How did she link up with Bang Ul? Ffs.• If Ha Yeong can weaken Si Won’s influence, why didn’t anyone suggest rounding up all the wishers and bringing them to the shrine, if only to contain some of the chaos while Se A and Bang Ul set out to fight the final boss?? Hello?? Risk & liability avoidance anyone?• Why was Na Ri so fixated on her crush??? Girl, you were just STABBED, and you’re more mad that your crush got with your friend??? Be so frI could go on but I don’t feel like itYou get the ideaThis drama is a tease

I wishes it could have been better.

What I disliked:Few participant: The show tries taking a turn from the normal high school drama, but the turn wasn't good in the aspecct of leaving 5 students playing the game, for how few the numbers of the game player was, it created less thrill to me, the death was once and all, the last death happened because she was a big villain that deserved death, not because you were innocent, the death was created to get your attention into the show for those who love horror and suspense tag. With how few the student participating actually is and only the main characters made a wish, the story wouldn't definitely want to leave half of the main characters dead. The concept was nice, but wasn't a strong pulling force: Expected something more, like the students forced inot the app or entered accidentally, not expecting you having a choice to make a wish and coincidentally with most of the main characters playing the game they all made a wish which was lame and dumb.A student actually writes down their birthday and everything and tells the app to grant their wisha and you say they thought it was a joke 'I find it a joke", when your birth calendar has been written purposely, and you then wish for the death of your friend in the so-called phone and you don't believe in the app, it sucks. They could have just made them real villainsTalking about some ridiculous concept, it was already reluctantly okay with the the premise, but then the wish could actually stop, at some incidence I mean does the writer actually wants to save the children.Pacing Inconsistencies: The minor problem that I actually found heart wrenching the pacing was bad the writers were wrong they jumped from a real suspense moment of searching the house of an occultist into flashbacks on one of the leads and it continued through the end I mean are you actually playing me down in seeing my etching suspense.Pick up one: Stop playing some rom-com in my suspense-horror, we didn't come for those hectic romance, you could have stopped in EPS one since the horrors haven't yet come by then and not stretched out to the romance to the end, they can play the real rom-com at the end of their struggles. What I Loved:The actors performance: As young as the actor they were the light of this show, the performance carried out by each of them was noteworthy and I was overwhelmed by distinctive villain and saving roles. The suspense was a real hook, the horror was okay and the lighting gave in a lot for those horror.Overall If wishes could kill is a drama I can't rewatch (I don't basically rewatch dramas) it had some horrors in to that, it gave me some flinching jumpscares, with plot holes that kills me and I find it had not to get tired but I basically enjoyed it.P.s Netflix better stop their greedy nature the series have come to a close, their is no need to foreshadow that their is gonna be S2. The ending was really okay.

Great Premise Ruined by Poor Writing

The first 4 episodes were fantastic. Like 'edge of your seat, trying to piece everything together' type of fantastic. However, the latter half takes all that away and ruins it. The story is filled with plot holes and relies on idiotic characters to further the plot and raise the stakes - Spoiler, the stakes remain dead in the water.I think the writers had a great idea. Combining tradition, i.e., shamanism, with technology, a killer app, and a not-so-stable friend group was a solid idea. If only they hadn't made their characters' one consistent character trait be bad decision-making. Tbh, of the 5 main characters, the one character who (largely) made smart decisions throughout was Kim Geon U. Even Ha-Joon, who was presented as the logical friend, was only proverbially saved by the bell from adding his name to the kill list of that appGenerally, I expect such shows to have dumb characters. It's part and parcel of the genre. Frustrating, yes, but you've got to sacrifice a few for the theory of evolution by natural selection. However, when the majority of the group is dumb, the viewing experience becomes frustrating.I wish they had given me1. Better, smarter characters - Personally, I believe that smart characters make for a better viewing experience. As a viewer, I'm not dumb, so the writers shouldn't treat me as such. Stupid mistakes being the thing that consistently pushes the plot is insulting my intelligence. And undervaluing my time2. Tighter plot - There are so many plot holes with the main and even supporting characters. I could list them out, but I'm not enjoying typing this out. Part of me suspects that this could have been intentional for them to try to create a hook for the 2nd season. However, that just made this season feel incomplete. It's like buying a sandwich and finding out it's all crust and a few unseasoned lettuce leaves. Then being told that you now need to get a 2nd sandwich so you can get all the other good stuff - The actual bread, the sauce, and the meat. Why TF would I buy from you again? Not only did you make me waste my money, but you could end up giving me another crust sandwich and telling me to wait for sn 3. No, thank you.3. A better villain - Honestly, I'm lowkey tired of the whole 'insecure bully from a broken family' narrative. When the show started, I had hoped that the backstory of the app would be quite sinister. They classified it as horror after all. However, learning that all this happened coz one girl wanted to bully her one genuine friend... *insert hard eye-roll* come on now. Kwon Si Won being evil for the sake of being evil is just... mehPS. Actually, I don't mind a villain who's evil for the sake of being evil. But they need to face smart and resourceful 'heroes' for the story to stand out and keep me hooked. Three Extra Thoughtsa. I will say, the most memorable thing was the eye in.... was it episode 3 or 4? That eye made me jump. I think it (and the 1st time we see Do Hye Ryeong slit her throat) were the only parts of the entire story that felt like they fit adequately with the horror tagb. There is a lesson here about choosing better friends. About not staying friends with mean people simply because of history. About not trying to save everyone because (again) of history or coz you're a nice person c. If they were to announce a 2nd season, I suspect that Na Ri would be the villain in that one - based on the after-credits scene. I, however, will not be tuning in. Netflix hasn't had a great track record with sequels, even when they had strong 1st seasons. Look at shows like Sweet Home, BloodHounds & the 1st 2 seasons of Alice in Borderland. Strong starts that were butchered later. This show didn't even have a strong start. I'm doubtful that the 2nd season will be anything good.

Do you like blood?

Here’s my review of this new drama that just came out:Personally, I had never seen a drama that puts self-harm and suicide so front and center. I think this drama isn’t for everyone.First, the story:I found the story good overall, but a bit messy on one point. Yes, the girl commits suicide on the app and curses everyone who uses it. On that aspect, I thought the development was a bit strange. How do you curse an app? Sure, she’s a shaman, but they could have shown how she performed the ritual or something. Just saying “the app is cursed because of the suicide” feels a bit too easy and lacks real depth. At the very beginning of the series, we see her suicide scene and the app is immediately cursed. Then the main story unfolds, and only at the end do we finally understand why the app was cursed (thanks to the scenes revealed at the end). I think it would have been better for the viewers if the full intrigue had been introduced right from the start. That way, we would immediately understand how and why the app was cursed, by who, and for what reason all while following the high school students who discover the “cursed” app, what happens to them, and how they try to escape it. Then, at the end, we could reach the same final scene where she has to destroy the phones to stop everything. That’s my feeling about how the series handled the main theme of the story. In short: they should have shown all the scenes about the girl’s suicide and the curse right at the beginning instead of revealing them only at the end. Now, about the actors and their performances:Honestly, nothing to criticize here. I thought all the characters were well cast and played their roles convincingly. Especially Na-ri at the end she really surprised me. I didn’t expect her to act that well! The OSTs are good, but they didn’t particularly impress or surprise me.The visuals the blood, the appearances, and the “ghosts” are very well done!In short, it’s a good series and I recommend it, but if you’re sensitive to blood or suicide themes, don’t watch it!

I Wish it was better

I was eagerly awaiting this one and after binge-watching it in one seating I must say I am quite... disappointed ? I found the Shamans couple much more interesting overall, and I felt the main teen characters all lacked depth and emotional maturity... Even considering their age(they’re supposed to be 16-17), I found they all lacked emotional depth and felt like flat archetypes/2D characters, not really “alive." The actors did a good job portraying emotions so it's really not their fault, i think it's because of the production.. I'm throwing some shade here tbh but back in my days, dramas used to be able to pull credible characterisation even with shorter episodes. Enough for us to get attached to the characters you know?I am aware that with multiple main characters and a group of friends, you can’t really do that deep dive and show their family or the dynamics in the group with more scene, etc (oh and conveniently the main character's aunt is always away etc. felt like a budget decision more than anything), but they felt more like archetypes : the otaku, the sporty girl, the rich mean girl, the nerd, the cute guy. I don’t know, it just lacked that zest. Also I would’ve loved more scenes with the older shaman lady and at school. It lacked that “this is satisfying” feeling you sometimes get when you're get REALLY into a drama you binge watch, so I felt they didn’t delve deep enough. Also, the timeline and school stuff were skipped. This felt lazy and I am starting to wonder if they use AI to write some of the scenes. ( wouldn't be surprised)I understand Netflix’s strategy of spending less on dramas with a small cast to boost viewership, rack up numbers and keep everyones eyes stuck on their screens.. but even with just eight short episodes, I think they could’ve gone deeper into the details to really immerse us in the series. Finally I agree with some comments there and reviews there, especially those comparing it to previous short productions like 8 Show, Pyramid Game, and Might Has Come.

Interesting Concept with badly written characters...

Similar to what many have mentioned there wasnt any bond built between the viewers and the characters, so if anything bad happens we are just like "ok next". This is also probably cause the characters were not unique or interesting. Its like every school drama has the same type of people, some overly kind and some just inhumane...Honestly the most interesting character in this show for me was the shaman's husband, probably the only person I was hoping survives. Logic....logic is something definitely not found here cause I still find it weird how the phones were left untouched but there were no bodies....lol (prob a plothole). There are no higher ups involved at all like that portion of the story is fully removed. The focus is only on the kids. But...the kids are not that smart as well...the decisions they make are so bad its ridiculous...Overall although it is a thriller, its not the exciting kind...you just want to know the end.

the acting is superbb!!!

okay so i went in fully expecting wall-to-wall jumpscares and honestly? i was so ready to be scared out of my mind every five minutes. but this drama said no actually, let’s do something different — and that ended up being the right call. the horror doesn’t hit you over the head constantly. it builds, creeps up on you, and when it does go there, it lands so much harder because you’re already emotionally attached. love when horror works like that.the premise is genuinely clever. Girigo is this app that supposedly grants any wish you upload as a video. sounds too good to be true, obviously, and it is — turns out the whole thing is a curse deliberately created by whoever built it. once that reveal starts unfolding, the story gets way darker and way more personal than i initially expected. it stops being about a spooky app and starts being about people.and that’s where the drama really shines for me. the underlying message hits different — it’s not just the classic “be careful what you wish for” thing. it’s more about how human desire is messy and complicated. people think they’re wishing for something good but underneath it’s tangled up with revenge, with feeling abandoned, with wanting to hurt someone back without admitting it to themselves. that kind of nuance? in a YA horror? didn’t see it coming and i respect it.acting-wise everyone holds their own but let’s talk about the worst characters because oh my god. Nari, Kwon Siwon, and Gitae — absolutely insufferable and i mean that as a compliment to the writing because they made me genuinely annoyed in the best way possible. and Hyungwook broooo 😭
